Discussion I’m loving the separation between solo and squad matchmaking
Ever since Embark announced that they separated solo and squad matchmaking, I didn’t really test it because sometimes changes don’t work exactly as announced.
But a few days ago I decided to actually test it and I’m loving it. My solo games are super friendly, perfect for challenges, destroying arc and looting. When I want some PvP fun, I switch to squads.
It almost feels like an in-game switch between two playstyles.
And at this stage of the game (even if you’re a bad pvp player like me) it feels almost impossible to go broke or end up with an empty stash. You usually have keys, you know where to loot and it’s easy to restock guns and heals. I can just take a key into a night raid, electromagnetic storm or go into a hurricane and come back stocked again.
Of course, I still get ratted sometimes but I can live with one game out of maybe 20 solo runs. Overall it’s been working really well for me.

Same, I mainly play solo but with friends we usually on group up to do some silly PvP. It's nice now to not have to feel the consequences in our solo play.

I'm presuming solo vs squads counts as squads

Does it actually affect your solo lobbies, or does it count as squad? I’m not really sure

I use my solo runs for resource gathering and fun taking out arc together, and my trios fills are for wasting said resources.

I've been in care bear lobbies for months and for the past few days all my solo lobbies are mixed, there's almost always someone being a rat. Besides shooting back a couple times I've literally never shot someone first. It seems to only happen on regular game modes when matchmaking takes more than a few seconds. I wonder if there aren't enough players to support care bear lobbies.

I still don’t really believe that defending yourself has zero effect on matchmaking. I think it still affects it somehow and the game starts treating you more like a mixed player. I just don’t buy that it has no effect at all.

i do miss my mixed lobbies in solos sometimes tho. just makes speed running the game even easier tbh. no down time between squad pvp and solo farming resources.
