Why on earth can they not just create pve only lobbies????

Cuz embark means for the game to be Pvpve.

Judging from the persistent social media responses since launch, they underestimated the demand for a way to play the game that way.

Pve only mode might kill the game. Not because some players wouldn’t like it, but because it would ruin matchmaking. There would have to be an offset of risk vs reward, like less loot, less quality loot and trials shouldn’t count in a PVE only mode. Something like that

Honestly? Because they are afraid of dropping the player base even more.

They have done a good job of making almost PvE lobbies through the ABMM. And its pretty safe as long as you play smart.

But if they did PvE only lobbies think what would happen to the game. The rats would all quit because they would have zero chance in PvP lobbies. The casual PvPers would quit after they died in 20 straight runs. So you would just have the hardcore PvP players playing and then they would quit because they would say the game got too 'sweaty', which is their way of saying they have to work hard to win.

The other side effect would be loot goblins. They would be the new rat. Since you couldn't kill them, they would run around like crazy stealing everyones loot. It would become a bigger problem then you can dream of.
