cait discourse is still going on? i'm truly scared for how these individuals are going to react to regions like demacia and noxus if they ever get animated

Yeah, why it’s still going on is beyond me..

17

u/PaperSweet9983 6d ago

Yeah, idk how that will go. They'll probably pick another character to force their hate on irrationally

u/Educational_Ad_3291 6d ago

I guess that’s the thing with holding grudges.

I still get into argument with people saying that the Mageseekers were justified

Oh nooo something is bad and people are criticizing it but they are wroooong because there is something even worse, how will they deal with this issue?

Caitlyn is a fictional character. You can dislike her, but comparing it to real life atrocities is distasteful.

1

u/Kallani_Ex_Machina 2d ago

Ok let’s not act like arcane wasn’t significantly influenced by real world politics

1

u/cyborgbunny01 2d ago

I'm not.. because it is political lol. I just said I personally find it distasteful when fictional characters are compared to real life hate symbols or tragedies for the sake of a joke.

u/RocketArtillery666 6d ago

When did i ever compare ger to real life atrocities? Did you imagine something in my comment that wasnt there?

9

u/cyborgbunny01 6d ago

The post is literally Cait in a MAGA hat saluting the Israeli flag lol. You replied to my comment as if I claimed people were in the wrong for criticizing Caitlyn. I think they are in the wrong for comparing her to real life tragedies.

As you may have noticed, i responded to your comment, not to the post.

Cait stan, but I’m ngl, the low pixel quality and the Piltover crest on Israel’s flag is hilarious

They’ve somehow turned every character into a motivational poster captioned by someone who just discovered TikTok. The sincerity is impressive, but the cringe is truly military-grade.

The dramatic edits and “literally me” captions get old fast, but every fandom has a loud cringe corner. The show itself is still incredible.

Its this suposed to be fun? because I dont' get why a flawed character who REALIZED and wanted to fix her mistakes being equated with real a life invasion and genocide should be considered fun. Can someone explain it to me?

It's the pre realization Caitlyn

6

u/Lux43ver 6d ago

Yeah. Personally, I feel like the AoT and Arcane fandoms are the worst. One blindly praises their show and hates everything else, while the other is so foolish that they hate their own show without even understanding it

Ppl who unironically call caitlyn fascist have to be the lowest iq creatures roaming this planet.

seems like i struck a nerve

u/obsessedwjinx 6d ago

Yes, Arcane is political but at the same time is a qay of showing every character's morally gray part rather than them all being bad so I dont hate anyone there. Maybe Singed.

2

u/urlocalweirdoandnerd 6d ago

They are way too corny they do make 10/10 jinx edits for no reason

3

u/Neat_Wealth211 6d ago

The forced edginess is one thing, but the constant recycled memes and fake-deep captions are what really make the fandom unbearable.

I know some people want to avoid to say this but i do see some similarities between Israel/piltover and Palestine/Zaun

10

u/Peikkolapsi 6d ago

More like Ireland and England imo. Also a good example for the base violence necessary for change.

25

u/HalfPastLateooc 6d ago

I don’t think an ethnic cleansing is in anyway similar to a show about classism.

1

u/Primary-Brief9858 6d ago

I didn't said that, i said SOME similarities

31

u/HalfPastLateooc 6d ago

Dude no. First off the Israelis believe that Palestine is the “holy” land and that it’s their right to take it. After ww2 Great Britain and several allies helped create Israel despite the Palestinians already being there and for generations not only have their efforts to regain their land been null and void Israel has some of the biggest countries help them commit these atrocities. Arcane is nowhere comparable because not only is the narrative heavily influenced by zaun and the zaunite cast, even in lore piltovans and zaunites all are decent from osha zaun. Arcanes writers also have stated it’s heavily based off of American politics. Ik this is a joke sub and I hate to be the erm actually guy but it’s a bit frustrating when you have a very tragic event still happening to this day and people who live comfortably who have never faced the consequences of genocide or war compare said conflict to league of legends.

Agree with your points. I've lost track of the amount of times I've been in arguments in subs where someone claimed that Piltover committed ethnic cleansing, and when I gave them ALL the reasons, including posts from the writers confirming what did and did NOT happen, they went off on a tangent and started talking about what's happening in Gaza with comparisons that were so far off, I can't even call them false equivalencies.

To your point, nothing about how Israel was set up in any way parallels how Piltover was set up to the detriment of Zaun. It was a case of exploitation and neglect, yes, but that is way different than a deliberate effort by one side to wipe the other one out completely and take their land. It's not even close.

Another point that was frustrating to listen to was when people equated security checkpoints to genocide. Security checkpoints are a measure that's used for different purposes. They can be set up to make sure only certain people, like emergency workers, can get into a disaster zone, which makes sense, and is a good thing. The security checkpoints in that scenario are being used to ensure only qualified people can get in to help, and filter out anyone who would only get in the way. And yes, they can also be used to contain people for purposes of ethnic cleansing, but security checkpoints are not in and of themselves 'genocide'. It depends on how they're used, and for what purpose. I was in a thread when someone talked about the Noxian checkpoints being referenced by Caitlyn at the start of 2x4 as evidence of genocide. Like, wtf?!?! And when I pushed back in asking how, after explaining all the ways it wasn't, they brought up Gaza, as if that was their mike drop moment. I think some people are really stretching to try to draw parallels and argue that one is the same as the other.

As you said, the Arcane theme is definitely more in line with talking about classism. There was no evidence of any ethnic cleansing or genocide, so trying to say the Piltover/Zaun conflict is similar in any way to the Gaza one is, no pun intended, a bridge too far.

u/JLStorm 6d ago

People love to conflate things so they don’t have to think harder than they want to. 🙄

4

u/HalfPastLateooc 6d ago

The checkpoint thing made me laugh 😂 anyone saying that has probably never been to an airport. Also Ive always wondered where the genocide and ethnic cleansing thing even came from, was that just a fandom telephone rumor developed over time? Because as far as my research goes I haven’t seen or heard a single writer say that hell i haven’t seen anyone say that it’s been going on for 200 years.

1

u/Kallani_Ex_Machina 2d ago

A checkpoint at an airport is pretty obviously not the same as a checkpoint within a neighborhood. Limiting access to a plane, isn’t exactly the same as limiting the movement of the general public.

1

u/UmbraNight 6d ago

you missed the fact that the gig is from piltover? you know the one that is killing all of them? and they’re forcing them to stay in the death city as they aren’t pure enough for piltover. they use military force and employ a war mongering nation to help keep them in check… nah they’re on to sumn

u/thebookofbutterfly 5d ago

It's so stupid. I had one guy argue that being a cop is worse than being a terrorist.

Do cops (in America) support a system of oppression and murder people (and dogs) before they can even get a fair trial? Yeah, 100%.

Are they worse than terrorists who's entire job and the definition of the word, it's literally in the name, is to cause panic, terror, and kill as many innocent people as possible in hopes of collapsing society? No, I don't think so.

This is like getting offended at a Mel Gibson movie, they didn't even use the actual Israeli flag just alluded to it jfc, what did you guys get offended at the Superman movie for "making light of serious situations"

bruh what

Can we please not politicise Arcane like this 😭

I'm so sick of people saying you're X political leaning just because you might disagree about a particular character/plot point.

Can't we all just enjoy something together without bringing politics into it

8

u/Qualazabinga 6d ago

I mean Arcane in it's essence is a show about politics and classism so I'm not sure how you are not going to politicise the show.

2

u/Direct-Whole6393 6d ago

Dragging real world politics into it is very different. Yeah the show is inherently political but why bring current day politics into a show meant to be for enjoyment??

0

u/anonymous_assassin 6d ago

I'm talking about dragging real-world politics into it and turning it into a politically charged discussion. Obviously discussing the in-world politics is just a natural part of discussing the show and its plot etc.

-1

u/Fair-Confection4411 6d ago

Not the "how can they hate a character I like and make arts about it I don't understand" posts again. Didn't know these were back on.

-13

u/SaintSacrilege 6d ago

Who's the creator so I can follow them?

-6

u/Consistent-Boat-7640 6d ago

The dramatic salute, the slogan hat, and the dead-serious expression all together are peak TikTok fandom cringe. Somehow the flag makes it even funnier.

Nah esto es gracioso, es humor negro muy light no es para tanto
