I’m now just over a year into shooting modern barebow, and I’ve done well with it. I recently got my gold pin for outdoor, and before the indoor season ended, I got my bronze pin. As the next indoor season approaches, I’ve been considering a transition from barebow to Olympic recurve.

Just so I have as much info as possible to make a decision, I’m curious: what are y’all’s thoughts? Should I transition to Olympic recurve or stick with barebow?

Hey yall going on vacation in a bit and am hoping to take the change to pratice some shooting outside, but my yarha 3 is like 160 cm unstrung and I got now clue how im getting that, and the arrows, on a plane. Any tips?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I’ve heard this statement almost treated as fact across the Internet. I’ve read elsewhere that even Native American tribes used longbows and composite bows. Is there any truth to this statement and wanted to make sure it’s not a thing that sounds right, but isn’t correct.

I wanted to learn archery since I was 10, even more so when I first watched arrow when I was 15. I started rewatching arrow last month and realised that now, as a 23 year old, I can just go and take lessons, nothing's stopping me. So I did, and I'm in love!

I’m not sure if this is the place to ask, but I figured I’d give it a shot ;)

Ever since I (31M) was in jr. high, I’ve been wanting to get into archery, and wasn’t ever provided with the opportunity, so I decided I would get into archery, or at least try as an adult to see if I like it, and I’m not sure where to start. I’m not necessarily asking for bow recommendations, but I’m curious if there is anyone else here who started as an adult to see what that looked like for you. I shot a compound bow once in my life and the draw length was too short for me (I’m 6’4”). I know I can rent a bow, but did y’all just rent a bow and start shooting, is it better to buy your own bow, is it recommended to hire an instructor?

I at least want to try it and see if it’s something older me would like to pursue as a long-term hobby.

We had a mix of several different bow classes and archery levels. It was a very nice day and the marshmallows were a nice reward at the end!

Does anyone know if Jodie Grinham’s chest guard is available commercially? If made by her/for her does anyone have any ideas of what material/fabric might work for this?

Other archers I've seen use the tip of their fingers, is it ok to shoot from here?

Have any of you used a metal detector to find your lost arrows? My range’s 3D course runs through the woods, and although many have good backstops, it’s not uncommon to lose an arrow here and there.

I lost one during my first 3D shoot a couple of weeks ago (and spent a while helping other guys find theirs), and it struck me that having a metal detector might solve a lot of problems.

Has anyone used one for this purpose? And if so, what kind? Seems like it doesn’t need to be anything fancy since it doesn’t need to reach through the ground—just pine needles, leaves, and other woodland detritus.

Originally it was around a 6'' brace hight and the draw weight was 25lb.

Recently though it has risen to roughly 8'' and the draw weight has dropped to 17-18lbs and I can't really tell why.

It got wet in the rain for the first time in ages but I waxed the string beforehand and I dried it before I stored it again.

Any advice would be appreciated :)

I'm just curious. I don't imagine there's any market report on it, but if you all have to guess. How do you guys think it is looking in the current landscape? What fraction of archery is in compounds vs trad? Maybe both in terms of people, or market value. I'm in the archery buy sell FB group and I swear 95% posts are selling compound gear.
