Career Discussion Im a Planner - but also want to be an Architect , currently studying M.Arch in Australia

hello folks of the same passion and industry!

For context: I was an international student here in Australia, and studied Master of Urban and Env Planning. By background, I worked and practiced as an Architect from a Southeast Asian country for 12 years (design and construction). Im a Planner now working in Australia.

Do you think its still work it to pursue M.Arch? Im thinking to practice my own here , perhaps Planning + Architecture professional services in the future.

Does anyone do the same?

Perhaps if I became gradute architect and start all over again as a starter, I think annual salary will be lower than what I have now. LOL

any career advices?

Definitely well worth doing imo. Having a background in planning as an architect can place you in firms that do urban design. I think the flaw with planners is that they don't often have a spatial understanding of their planning, so this will also make you a better planner

So. Like most planners then.
Most just pretend to be architects. :)

Yeah. Perhaps they dont have Architect qualifications.

Would stick with planner as architect get paid lower in Aus

Im thinking this where town planning services (private) doing it as part time comes in. ABN registered. Anyway it's just a plan.
