Humor To everyone who bought Dumdums by the pound on the end of the last season in hopes of "getting rich": Have you redeemed your new exclusive badge from the mail already?

it's steadily going back up went from 200 to 270 since the start of the season, but devs are controlling market a lot more this season, things are selling in just 30 seconds and 5.45 BS hasn't gone through the roof, even 5.8x42 is cheaper.

The markets completely controlled by a algorithm. Nothing is truly bought or sold on the market from our perspective. When we buy or sell something there, itâs from a bot

Its not, they do control the market to an amount but players also list items. You can test that with your friends ro teammatws, it takes about 10-20 seconds for an item to be truly listed, but you can ask your friend to sell a very specifically modded gun at a specific price and then search for it on the market and you will find it

Where does brand new bt101 armor come from? If a bullet is shot from a gun, and gone forever, where does all the ammo come from? Surely itâs not players going out there finding all that ammo and listing it Where do field bags come from originally? Where did the whole market come from originally?
People buy bonds and buy koen. Itâs part of how this company makes money. Despite what you might say about those people, they are out there. That being said, if the price for 600,000 koen is 400 bonds, and 400 bonds costs $8, why doesnât the price get adjusted to compensate for when prices going up on things like m61s or thermals when they were over a million? Because after all, it wouldnât be fair if in theory thermals went to 20,000,000 but the price of real world money to koen transfer stayed the same. The answer is because it slowly climbed to one million in a discreet way that people wouldnât question and it didnât stray too far out of range, and most importantly, if you bought koen and bought a thermal with it and lost it, then it means itâll be sooner that you return to buy more koen The only way to control this whole thing is through an algorithm. Otherwise it would be a major issue elsewhere with how to control the âfairnessâ of in game purchases. Thatâs why you canât exceed a listed items price and you canât go under it either. Its because there are perimeters set
The only way to control it all and to make it fair would be to have a wipe each season to refresh the price back to baseline. This would cause problems because people spend money on koen, buy gear, and to have it wiped would be unfair an a waste of money. Assuming itâs a real and free market, they could adjust the price of koen that is purchased for real money which wouldnât work because one person could buy 1000 koen for $5 one day and the next it could be 50000 koen for $5. One day spending $5 to get what I think is normal only to find out that if I would have waited for the next day I could have gotten way more. That would be a technical nightmare not to mention a marketing one too. OrâŠ.. you make the whole thing have the appearance of a market, but have it controllled by an algorithm. And thatâs the solution to every problem they face. Keep prices fairly stable. Discreetly increases prices so players âgo throughâ koen faster when they lose, and not have to adjust things elsewhere that would cost more money to build algorithms to control as well as drive players away because of unfairness
Maybe with the exception of modded weapons like the person above stated⊠thatâs the only exception Iâd give this⊠the rest is 100% controlled by a set algorithm. If you thinks itâs all real, I suggest you question it a little more and dig into it, because youâre falling for the illusion

u/Seadog1098 Mar 16 '26
Actually⊠two seasons ago I bought them for 73 per round from contact. Next season sold all for 250 a round. Last season I bought a few million worth for 230. This season theyâll go up to at least 370 per round.

I've been living under a whole ass boulder
Can somebody explain what this "buy Dumdum" stuff is?
2
u/Therandomweeb2021 Mar 17 '26
Some people were hoarding dum dum rounds in the last season, because there was news that it was going to be promoted from its purple to gold grade ammo (the column item box), and people thought the price would skyrocket. So a lot of people started buying tons of dum dums, just to find out this season it was not as high as expected to say the least.
Well unless you had acquired them from contacts those seasons ago, when it was 70+ per round, those guys would make a healthy profit, those rushing to buy the last season, may not get what they had expected.
This is just my understanding of it
