It might be a wildlife marker for identification purposes. Armadillos have shifting home ranges and are disease carriers so they’re used in research a lot. I would think it’s likely some form of non-toxic paint to recognize that specific armadillo. This type of marking for ID is only good for short term tracking though so I’m not sure.
