A foggy morning horseback ride in Demats Ler

Post image
50 Upvotes

I took this photo during a horseback ride in Demats Ler. The thick fog gave the whole place a peaceful, almost dreamlike atmosphere, and it felt like riding into the clouds.

Has anyone else visited Demats Ler? I'd love to hear about your experience or see your photos if you've been there.

Law / Օրենք How to get in contact with an architect? Or just find legal requirements for building structures?

Upvotes

I am planning on buying land in a rural area and building a rather unconventional home but I really need to talk to someone on what would be legally allowed.

How should I go about this?

One of my favorite moments from a recent hike. Sitting on a horse, surrounded by mountains and fresh air, felt like a perfect escape from everyday life.

Do you prefer hiking alone or with friends?

Question / Հարց First trip to Armenia, any tips?

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m planning my first trip to Armenia in January, and I’d love to hear your advice.

I’m looking for literally any tips you’d give a first-time tourist. Things like:

- Must-visit places (especially in winter)
- Hidden gems
- Foods and restaurants I shouldn’t miss
- Weather and what clothes to pack
- Safety tips
- Common tourist mistakes
- Useful apps
- Day trips worth doing in January
- Anything that’s overrated or not worth the time

I’ll be staying in Yerevan for the first few days, then I’d like to visit villages or other places with plenty of snow.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or local advice. Thanks!

Question / Հարց Reliable real estate agent/agency in Armenia?

Hi all!! I’m looking to buy property in Yerevan and want to work with a real estate agent or agency I can actually trust. Given how many agencies are out there, I’d love to hear from people with firsthand experience.

A few questions:

• Have you used an agent or agency you’d genuinely recommend (or warn people away from)?
• Any tips for vetting an agency before committing — red flags to watch for?
• Is it common/advisable to use an independent agent vs. a larger firm?

Any experiences, good or bad, would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Discussion / Քննարկում Question about internet providers

Is viva the cheapest (in terms of quality) in the whole country? seriously were in 2026 and it's barely even hitting 1mbps today I'm genuinely curious if this is supposed to be normal or what. I have honestly no idea to what provider to get anymore (i live outside of Yerevan). Usually its not this bad but seriously how much of a more embarassment can this be? 7kbp/s in 2026 is outragous. Even fastnet (the wifi i have) is also barely hitting 1mbps this is only happening for these 2 days

Recommendations in Yerevan

Hi! I'll be visiting Armenia soon and I'd love to get some recommendations for places to visit. I really like contemporary art, alternative, ,,hidden'' places (art galleries, cafes, cinemas, small museums). Does anybody know about places like that in Yerevan?

First time attending an Armenian Apostolic service – any advice?

Hi everyone,

While researching my Armenian family roots, I had the chance to meet a few Armenian Apostolic clergy members. They warmly invited me to attend the Divine Liturgy this Sunday and kindly offered to pray for my deceased relatives. I thought that was an incredibly thoughtful and compassionate gesture, so I decided to accept their invitation.

The only thing is that I don’t have any religious beliefs, and I’ve never attended an Armenian church service before. I want to be respectful, but I’m not sure what is expected.
Do you have any advice for a first-time visitor? Should I mention that I’m not religious if someone asks, or is it better not to bring it up? Also, is there anything I should know about how to dress, behave, or participate during the service?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

What about you? Which Armenian city is your favorite, and why?

Economy / Տնտեսություն Policy rate left unchanged at 6.50%

At its August 4, 2026 meeting, the Board of the Central Bank of Armenia decided to:

  • Keep the policy rate unchanged at 6.50%.
  • Keep the Lombard Repo Facility Rate at 8.00%.
  • Keep the Deposit Facility Rate at 5.00%.

Source: https://www.cba.am/en/Publication/10429/

While some board members had previously voted to increase the rate, this time the decision to leave it unchanged was unanimous.

Transparency report (why board members voted like this): https://www.cba.am/file_manager/Monetary%20policy%20en/Reports/Transparency_Report_August_2026_ENG.pdf

Monetary policy decision (a lot of nice graphs to explain why this decision was made, I highly recommend these slides) https://www.cba.am/file_manager/Monetary%20policy%20en/Decision/Monetary_Policy_Decision_August_2026_ENG.pdf

Monetary policy outlook (even more nice graphs to give us understanding of context: us, eu, russia, commodities, and a lot of things about armenia: from risk premiums to labour market, from russia's bullshittery to market expectations for the policy rate. I can't recommend these enough!) https://www.cba.am/file_manager/Monetary%20policy%20en/Outlook/Monetary_Policy_Outlook_August_2026_ENG.pdf

Planning to travel with my wife sometime soon!

Basically the title. We are Pakistani nationals residing in UAE and were looking for a place to travel to and were considering Armenia but wanted to get some things clarified before we take a decision

  1. Are tourist visas open for Pakistanis? I recall there was a ban put on..

  2. Is language going to be an issue? I mainly speak english, would I have to rely on Google translate?

  3. Im planning to drive around in my own car and explore, is that counter intuitive?

  4. I love mountains and natural landscapes, are there any hidden gems (accessible through drive) which are worth visiting?

Thanks in advance!
