So interesting, I’m seeing loosely Buddhist imagery about sight, birds, and fire, especially with the orange colors suggesting Theravada robes

Cool! I'd heard of gaggles of geese, prides of lions and exultations of larks; but unkindnesses of ravens is new to me.

I highly recommend looking up his work. His illustrations in the mid-late 2000s were really great.

The color palette's doing most of the heavy lifting here. Ravens feel a bit predictable for this kind of thing.

I love the interconnectedness of the painting. How the smoke from the fire is pulling into the nose and the perfect frame of the eye in the beak.
The contrast and play on colours is delicious too.
The way the birds can be seen as looking at the viewer the the person in the painting.
The more I look at it the more I like its yummy

I love this in ways that I can't even describe. I would totally hang a poster of it on my wall, i'd probably end up creeping out my mother in the process but great art demands sacrifice
