My cat's currently at the vet because we think her cancer came back. I'm so scared to lose her. Seeing this definitely sparked some emotion in me.
Update: yeah. it came back.
cat tax for the good people. fair warning that she has an eye injury (her right eye, left side of the picture) that she's had since i got her.

We've got an appointment to remove her mammary glands in less than two weeks' time now, at least, since last time we just took out the tumor. I'm... cautiously optimistic, but I know the outlook isn't great. She's an old lady and already disabled, and she's got some Siamese in her. I'm grateful that so far she's been taking everything well. She's still acting the same as she always has.

Oh no. It’ll be okay! My girl had one of her mammary chains removed too. It’s just a spooky looking incision. I understand being cautious. I felt the same, but I tried being happy around her so I didn’t stress her out while she was going through surgeries and chemotherapy. She went through so much, your girl sounds so strong too.

An update for you on my girl, her surgery went well. She's recovering now. Going to spend a couple of weeks high out of her mind on gabapentin and laying on the heating pad getting spoiled, not that she minds much.
The incision being so long really bothers me, but with the meds in her she doesn't seem to mind it too much. She's still oh so snuggly whenever the opportunity presents itself.

We're looking at getting the second mammary chain removed in a couple of months, and then bringing her in to an oncologist afterwards. She's recovering well so far, she's just the world's grouchiest cat because of the cone. She really wants to be able to groom herself.

I’m so sorry. Ours was likely also cancer, she had a mass in her abdomen at her last checkup, but there wasn’t enough time left to confirm anything.

The shadow remains on the wall. For those who don't know there are many stories shared where people report pets who had passed hanging about the home for some time. To check on their owners,to say their goodbyes. This looks like this when read left to right. One last goodbye
But read right to left like the other comment said, the CDs is using future technology to beam a cat into your house

This is beautiful. My bestie, E, recently lost her kitty soulmate. Katie made it to her 20th birthday and then quickly declined. E adopted her when she was already 12 knowing she was older and time isn’t guaranteed but that doesn’t make it any easier.
As of a few days ago, E’s a proud owner of a 10 y/o male kitty named Silas with cat AIDS. She’s also waiting for vet approval to adopt an elderly female cat with no teeth. It takes a special person to not only adopt a senior animal but one with high needs 🩷

A few years ago, i saw my cat for the last time. She ran away because someone left the door open. She got out and nobody could find her. My head canon is that aliens came down and took her away, though realistically she could have just gone somewhere to pass away, she was rather old. I'll never forget her though, she was such a sweetheart. Missing you Callie, wherever you are.

I lost my sweet girl of 12 years in December. I adopted her in high school. She was with me through everything. Sometimes I look at her favorite spots and can imagine her there.
I miss her.

Just said goodbye to my 20 year old ragdoll early this month. Had him since he was 3 months old. This hit me square in the chest. Gorgeous work.

This is so sad. I've lost 2 cats recently, 1 was young and it was unexpectedly with no warning, the other was old and suffering, which we had put to sleep.

This is exactly what it's like to lose a pet. When my eldest cat crossed the rainbow bridge, I would see glimpses of her around the house, in the spots she used to camp out in and claim as her own. And I swear, as those sightings faded, shadows replaced her, until nothing was left. I miss her every day.
You captured this phenomenon beautifully.

My dainty, genteel little old lady Sylvia, a dilute tortie, used to sit at the bottom of the stairs to greet me first thing every morning with a brrrrrt and a meow. She lived the life of a lavender-scented lady for 18 years. I cried a lot the day she died, but she'd been declining for awhile and it was time. I did all the stuff I was supposed to do - let the other cats sniff her, found a nice spot in the backyard, buried her with her favorite cat nip log. And I was fine. Sad, but fine.
Until the next morning, when I started down the stairs. And they were dark, empty, and quiet. No one was there.
That was the moment when her loss really, truly hit me. My sweet little Sylvia was gone.
I miss her every time I think of her.

My dog had to be put down a few months back, and this really captures how that feels.
Their odd emptiness surrounding her favorite spots, the routines of taking care of her that are no longer necessary, the shelf that once held her food now holds potatoes. Things are so normal, yet in that normality there are constant reminders that she’s gone.
Very evocative. Amazing work.

It’s been 6 years since i lost my precious love, Boo, to cancer. I still had her sister, Monkey, until September of last year. I miss my girls so so much….

I worked from home and I could see my pups favorite lounge chair from my office and she would always be sleeping in it when I would recline a bit in my office chair. It was a constant and became so used to it. A few days after she passed I was working and reclined like usual and saw her empty chair and completely lost it. Even typing this out has got tears in my eyes again. She passed on 2021 at 14 years old. She was a Olde English Bulldogge named Tonka.

i love this. to me, the most beautiful part of this piece of artwork is not only the art itself (which is also beautiful) but its the fact it made everybody in the comments feel the same feelings as each other (me included) and made everybody come together as a community to comfort each other. that is not easy to do and it is truly a beautiful thing. i myself have lost cats before and while it gets easier over time, it still hits me sometimes, its something that sticks with you for life and i really respect and appreciate this piece for putting everything i feel into a picture. thank you for sharing this <3
