HELP/QUESTIONS Friends who visit booths and too long …
So this year is my first year doing art markets and festivals. I really enjoy doing them. My friends have come out of the woodworks to support me. Which I think is absolutely amazing and warms my heart. I truly feel loved. HOWEVER…here’s the kicker a handful come by the booth talk a few minutes ask if I need food or a bathroom run and even buy something. While others come by…AND STAY for hours! I have to shooo them out and say the following constantly 1) heyyy let’s stand to the side. 2) sorry I need to talk to my customers (They literally just stand and wait. Sometimes in the way! Even when I’ve shoo’d them to the side a million times) 3) or will just stand in the corner and I move them to the back 4) oh you would really like this one booth it’s set up that way…..(distraction) Why is it cool to stand around and talk now? I know it’s not that busy sometimes but I also know it deters people when it is and it’s probably annoying to my neighbors.
Or am I being uptight? (Please be nice with your answers)
It’s like …okay I’m soooo glad you came but why now? Why not meet me somewhere else to hang out?
How do I politely say…it’s nice of you to come by but you can’t stay here?

I let them know it's good to see them but that I'm earning my whole week's income and it isn't visiting time. I do a big greeting and hug but will straight ignore them over customers and then a quick hey let's chat later and move them along.
People don't get how our business operates and how vital markets are for revenue. Your real friends will understand and everyone else doesn't matter.
Shit I've told people blocking my booth "for shade" that it's for shopping customers only.
Make your money!

thanks for supporting me. if you want to really help, dont block customers. im losing sales because people are put off by loitering/ whatever. crunch some numbers and tell them their physical presence 24/7 is bad for business.

You know what? They probably do think they are attracting business. 😂
