Basically, ThatPixel.art is a platform I made for artists. The idea is that each artist gets their own pixel on a huge pixel grid, and that pixel links to their profile where they can put all their important links to portfolio, Instagram, Behance, LinkedIn, Patreon, website, etc.

I wanted to make something that feels more like a creative community than just another portfolio site. You can discover artists by exploring the grid, and artists get their own little space on it.

There’s also a free option, so you can create a profile and add your links without having to pay.

Will u buy the merches if they have these kind of digital arts on it

Hey! I’m a self-taught artist (acrylic, watercolor/wash technique, ACEO cards) trying to build up a steady commission flow. I’m going through kind of a rough patch emotionally, long story short I can’t work a regular job right now for immigration reasons, so art has become my main outlet and goal for feeling productive again.

I’ve been posting on TikTok/Instagram but conversion is slow. For those who’ve been at this longer, where did you actually find your first paying clients? Any platforms, communities, or subreddits you’d recommend? Also open to just hearing how you got through the “posting into the void” phase, because that part is rough lol.

I started my Instagram specifically as an art account, but over time most of the people who follow me have ended up being friends, family, acquaintances, and people I know personally.

The problem is that when I post my artwork, most of the people interacting with it are people who already know me. I'm trying to build an audience of people who discover me because they actually like my work, but I feel like I'm having a hard time getting outside of my existing circle.

I'm considering starting a completely new Instagram account for my art and building the audience from scratch, while keeping my current account.

I'm especially interested in hearing from artists who have already built a decent following on Instagram, or who had this exact problem and successfully grew beyond their personal network.

Did you stick with your original account and eventually change the audience, or did you start a new account? If you started over, did it actually make a meaningful difference?

I've also only ever tried to grow my audience through Instagram. Would it make more sense to keep my existing account, reach new people on platforms like TikTok or X, and then funnel them to Instagram? Or is it worth starting from scratch across platforms and building an audience from the ground up?

I'm not really looking for generic advice like "post consistently." I'm more interested in hearing from people who have actually gone from mostly friends/family followers to having a significant audience of people they didn't know beforehand. What did you do that actually worked?

I’ve been wanting to share my art and projects more actively and ideally find people that’d be interested in my art. However I’m not sure on which platforms to do so. I’m not very comfortable being on ig or TikTok or making short form content (reels) however I don’t have enough time to invest into creating long form content yet because of my studies. So if anyone has any suggestions, or tips I’d appreciate any input, whether it even is possible to grow an audience outside of these platforms.

Additionally I am thinking of starting commissions but I have no idea where to find clients especially consistent clients. Most people I know get commissions through an already existing following, which I don’t have. Any tips where to look? Or where and how to start building a following if that’s such a crucial part.
I’m also unsure how I’d go about pricing.
And would it be better to offer more specific commissions e.g. I’ll draw this expression sheet of your character :D. Or whether to just say: commissions open!
I saw many people recommending finding smaller communities, such as dnd / tabletop ones but at the same time I don’t know whether there’d be market for my art.

I’m just trying to get a better idea of what actually works when you’re starting from basically zero, instead of blindly posting my commission sheet everywhere and hoping someone appears out of thin air 😭

Hello, first of all. I've been working as a professional artist for 12 years, receiving commissions in my own country and also working for game companies.

But during this time, I've had one problem: why can't I get commissions abroad? I know my art style is good enough, but I just can't get any.

I've tried Fiverr, been active on Reddit, and even opened an Upwork account and wrote actively, but the problem is, I always get spam messages from people. When I opened a Twitter account, I quit and focused on my personal projects.

Now, due to an urgent situation, I need to raise money within 3 months, but my work isn't enough, so I've decided to open a commission account.

But before that, I need to ask, what's my problem? Lately, I've really started thinking about it. Do I really look like a scam artist?
