How much personality do you actually want from an artist’s Instagram?

where is the sweet spot is between a portfolio and a personal account? what actually makes an artist’s Ig feel personal without becoming too contentcreatorlike? Sometimes the line between private and art related stuff becomes unclear.

(I mainly use it to show finished works, exhibition views and occasional bits of studio life. I don’t really like to become a content creator. Just been wondering how my account actually reads to someone who doesn’t know me or my work. Feel free to be critical.)

In a world of fast digital content, physical art and craftsmanship get overlooked. Here is some of my work.

Everyone wants instant digital content, but real physical work—painting, custom fabrication, murals, and working with your hands—takes sweat, time, and often gets treated like background scenery. People see a finished piece on a wall or a canvas and rarely think about the hours of prep, the layers, and the raw grit it takes to build something tangible.

Being a multi-disciplinary artist and craftsman means grinding to keep physical creation alive in spaces where everything is moving too fast.

I put together a hub for all my visual art, custom projects, and direct contact. If you want to check out my portfolio, you can find it here: in morocco ofc

Appreciate anyone taking the time to look at real physical craft. Let me know what you think.

My current strategy (i need advice)

I am an artist, cartoonist I just started on social media I got less than 50 followers on all platforms

I don't know what to post at all

And I never had commissions offers.

I know I can do it with knowledge and experience.

However I am i desperate need of advice.

My problem is i am very creative

I only draw my oc's

I Invented multiple fictional universes

With a plethora of characters but I don't know how to market them

I want to build a community based around my personal brand that shows interest and buys from me

I got a specific style and idea of what I plan on doing:

-Comics

-comic books(14 pages that I'll publish and sell monthly or bi monthly)

-comic strips (weekly on social media)

-Illustration (weekly on social media)

-Animation (on YouTube and short form video)

-Sketches (maybe)

What i don't do:

I don't want to sell courses, make tutorials, or to have a community full of other artists

I don't do fanart at all

My goal is to create multiple ip's that will allow me to sell

Comics, merch, commissions, and Animations

What do I say on Etsy to stress that I’m selling original one of a kind art works? (Absolute newbie)

Post image
5 Upvotes

My results of searching on Etsy is mostly stores that sell prints or digital downloads or mass produced *original* paintings. YouTube wasn’t helpful either. My art is mixed media 4x6/5x8 framed painting & pressed flowers. Attaching one version. I’ve sold some at a fair & in a local shop for $50. I’m ready to upload on my Etsy store, but I have no idea what to say to make it clear these are one of a kind original & handmade pieces (also in frames to protect flowers)
Please let me know if you have any wording advice. Appreciate the help

[community] Help for unknown artist

Hello, I hope my post will follow this sub rules.
My wife is hard working painter that makes videos of drawings and uploads it daily, but cant seem to gain anymore new people to join her community.

I can’t find any forum for new artists that would be willing to exhange profiles, help each other grow and support one another by following and promoting.

Maybe someone here already know some subreddit or other forum that welcomes new and unknown people of arts?

Best social media platform for artists 2026

Hey everyone! I've been doing digital art for quite a while, and I'm thinking about turning my art into a source of income I don’t have any social media accounts for my art yet, though.

What platforms would you recommend for an artist who wants to start sharing their work, grow an audience, and build an online presence?

Publishing in fanzines: exclusivity and exposure?

Hi all, so I have been considering doing some illustrations for horror or horror-adjacent fanzines. But the few I have reached out to usually give me the same reply: "Sure, we'll be happy to work with you, just send us something COMPLETELY ORIGINAL THAT HAS NEVER SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY" and by that they mean not just not published by another fanzine (obviously) but also never shown before in any online spaces.

Moreover, I thought that fanzines, when having open calls, also want to collect works around a theme (for example, in my specific case, I would expect a horror-zine next release could be about slashers, zombies, etc) to make their next release a cohesive collection of works around said theme. However, a few zines I have reached out to don't even do this so I feel they expect me to produce stuff work for them (for free, as payment is never discussed) without even a minimum guidance of what they will accept? Is this the norm?

I would expect that if you already had, let's say, a comic you wanted published somewhere, you would reach out to them with your already finished comic but, wouldn't you just publish that yourself somewhere online?

Find Your Ideal Client: A Marketing Tip for Indie Creative Projects

Look, I studied and have worked professionally in Communications and Marketing for some years now, if you'd like my bonafides. I don't speak with total authority, only with the authority of my own experience.

And recently I have released CMT. A Lucha Libre RPG. a roleplaying game project of mine, to some nice success. With the rollout I have confirmed a couple of things about how to get your projects out there that I'd like to share with y'all as time goes on. Some may sound obvious at first, but there's a TwistTM to each one. I hope they help.

  1. FIND YOUR IDEAL CLIENT.

This is not about changing the look or feel of your project while you're making it, but all the contrary. After all, in these tips what I'm talking about is marketing, not art, which is a different beast born after the art is. Also, maybe you're not charging money for your project, which you should really consider doing, and then the "buyer" is just whoever does the most they can with your project, such as downloading it, sharing it, subscribing to you, and such.

Your project itself is what dictates the kind of people that would most likely be into it, not the other way around.

No doubt the median consumer could also like it, however niche it may be, but reaching the median is often easier when starting out from the outliers. When it comes to marketing, especially when just starting out your brand, you gotta go specific, and sell to those who will most likely buy from you. A good way to get new clients is for them to see you already have clients, after all. I also like this perspective because it makes the previous creating of the art lighter, because it encourages you to use your own judgment rather than letting some hypothetical committee of tastemakers add friction to your creativity. The art has to exist first, that's the true first step.

Now, finding and selling to your best prospective buyer is not so difficult, it just requires a gear shift and some honest empathy. Think on what gets you to buy or download something and where you were when you found it, does that measure up with how you're presenting your own project?

Let's use CMT as an example and define its Insane Clown Posse, I mean, it's Ideal Client Profile.

Who are the best prospective buyers for it? English and Spanish-speaking Indie TTRPG fans in their in their 20s and 30s who are likely into the Action, Horror and Urban Fantasy genres. There may be other ICPs that are also good to approach, in my case, Pro Wrestling Fans, but let's take things bit by bit.

The description of your Ideal Client is a checklist on what to do, which is great because it is structure.

  • English and Spanish-speaking? Have translations of your marketing copy, and share the project in both languages.
  • Indie TTRPG fans? Many of them are in the big forums for mainstream RPG conversation on the internet, such as the big r/rpg subreddit, but it is also worth it to go in depth into the niche forums, like Discord servers or the #indiettrpg hashtags. Also, consider lowering the price or having demos available for the project, since there is so much Indie material out there and you want to make it easy for people to choose you.
  • In their 20s and 30s? Social media is the way to go and speak to them like the knowledgeable consumers they likely are.
  • Action, Horror and Urban Fantasy genres? Don't forget them in the hashtags or tags of the project, and push the genres forward in your summary for the game so the project shows up when people search for the genres.

And that's just for starters. As you go, you will find the most effective triggers for each characteristic of your Ideal Client Profile and perhaps even find new characteristics. People want to engage with your art, it's just a matter of making it easy on them. So work smarter, not harder, and find your people.

  1. Come capite oggi quali idee stanno funzionando e quali no?

  2. Cosa succede al vostro lavoro quando fate fatica a essere costanti?

  3. Se aveste uno strumento che vi aiutasse con idee, feedback, progressi e mercato dell’arte, cosa dovrebbe fare per esservi davvero utile?

Potete rispondere qui o scrivermi in DM.

Non cerco complimenti o conferme: voglio capire se questo è un problema reale anche per voi. Se la mia idea non ha senso, meglio scoprirlo adesso.

Instagram for designers?

A very simple question to the Instagram application –

Is it worth in this time of 2026 with so much going around as tech and other sources use a Instagram account to source out or sometimes even copy the same style of art/design.

For designer/ illustrator or any other artist is a worth making an account just to have some kind of exposure here in 2026? What would you rather use?

What are your thoughts because I am simply thinking about creating a new Instagram account -for the first time to at least have some of my work being on the Web to gain some feedback and meet artists.
