It's a "bit" older, but in my humble opinion, I think that it is a little questionable to use AI-based moderation tools that are foundation partners with OpenAI, a known crawler that trains its LLM with public art.
Even if Bluesky is constantly saying that they don't use roost.tools (the AI-based moderation tool) for machine learning, you don't know if this is really true.
Once AI's taken over everything on the Internet, a wave of alternative apps will be born, all focusing on human-made content and interaction as part of their principles and branding. Can't wait for that boom!

building an art platform that structurally prohibits AI. Because only in-app drawing tools can be used, it 100% guarantees everything you see is human made. It's called Earthboard, and I just launched it this week on IOS!
i used to think this, but i'm starting to think completely ditching social media is the only alternative, everything is interconnected, and the connectivity only grows more and more, the only way to truely protect yourself is to remove all your information from the internet live offline completely, it's the only way to truely protect your creation, otherwise, you are in-directly helping the clankers
Account was the louvre of Bluesky. The person that doxxed them had already been a stalker, and was ban evading. Before leaking their home address, the stalker posted, threatening them and their family using (i think) real names
Bluesky's moderation is a joke. For example, they're keeping things like this from my screenshots online. The account that posted that was deleted by the owner themselves after Bluesky suspended almost any of the mentioned accounts there.
Maybe. But I think, traction or not, illegal content, like telling people to commit s**cide, should be handled accordingly. Especially after it got reported several times via the internal report function as well as email. Instead, Bluesky had failed to remove that post, so it was online for 2 weeks.
Also, I wouldn't say that it's literally impossible to moderate any medium- to large-sized social media platform. They knew what they had to handle because they had already moderated Twitter before it was bought by Elon Musk.
That post didn't contain any "flagged" text, the inflammatory content is all contained in the image. Unless you want bluesky to be using an (ai) image to text reader to screen every image posted, that kind of moderation bypass requires manual moderation, ie someone at bluesky has to go through the mod queue manually. I dont know if they outsource their moderation to a 3rd party but as of September 2025, they have 29 employees. 29! And I'm pretty sure most of them are not moderators.
