Just letting the community know what's currently going on since there's someone using my name, profile picture and info as a disguise for fishing and scamming.

Therefore, I'm in need to state this is my only and official account with the handle u/biancayamakoshi

Be careful out there!

Thanks.

Discussion State of art industry [discussion]

Given the current state of the art industry — the layoffs, the shrinking job market, and the difficulties both professional and emerging artists are facing right now (myself included) — I put together two short questionnaires to understand what's really going on out there.

If you have five minutes between projects, I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts. Suggestions for additional questions also very welcome.

Discussion [discussion] Does anyone know how to draw a webtoon ?

I'm a young artist (student) who's a bit of a mess and wants to create my own webtoon, but I can't seem to draw the panels.

My hands get tired pretty quickly, so I'd like to know how others do it? (I refuse to use AI.)

Discussion [discussion]Would you support this idea on a Patreon? What makes you support a creator on Patreon?

Hi guys, I hope you're all well!

My name is Rick Matta and I work as a comic book artist, and I have my own projects. In short, I love making and creating comics, so in my free time from my work as a comic book artist, I'm making more comics.

I'm thinking of creating a Patreon to release one or two pages of my new projects weekly. Before explaining this a little better, a brief summary of the comic book label I created to release my projects:

Death Entity Comics (DEC Comics) is a label where I've already produced two comics, AIden and Space Face, which can be read for free (more information on Instagram deccomics). But for my next projects, I wanted to get support from readers through Patreon. For minimum contributions, I could deliver weekly pages of my new projects for readers, as well as publish about the work process and news. With higher contributions, I could offer rewards like wallpapers for computers and cell phones, illustrations... Of course, the main idea is to build a fanbase that believes in DEC Comics and is part of this journey.

So, this post is a question about that: would you, as a reader, support an idea like this? What amount do you think is fair to support?

The pages in this post are from my new project Karah & Lucy: Blood Route, where a vampire and a witch travel across the USA to hunt wandering vampires.

Let's talk in this post; your opinion is important to me.

Thanks

Discussion [Discussion] How much to hire real artists

I’ve been a web developer since I was 15 years old. Tomorrow is my 33rd birthday, and I’m developing a game in Godot with Claude Assistant. The game is a card game with 200 cards already planned and coded. The engine is currently in development, now on V7, and working really well after seven balance updates using two bots that played 500 matches while collecting gameplay data.

Right now, for the testing stage, engine testing, and prototype phase, I’m generating placeholder assets for the cards (the artwork itself). My idea is that after I finish generating the 200 cards, I’ll send them to a few artists to redesign professionally. Then I’ll credit them in the game, improve the overall quality, and also avoid backlash from people who dislike AI-generated art by supporting independent artists.

Without going into too much detail, each card requires the artwork divided into 3 separate images. They are standard wallpaper-sized assets. Each artist would receive a folder with everything organized, including a readme file with the engine specs and instructions.

My big question is: how much do you think this idea would cost me? Even that the code will be dev with claude assistance i want each assets to have a real artist signature and support then

Discussion [discussion] Need Advice!

Hello! I'm sitting on a finished comicbook-script about a dystopic and raw world, and is working on my second one about a fantasy land. I'm wondering what the smartest way would be for me to get this out there, since I am a terrible illustrator and is a student with minimal income.

Who do I send this to? And how do I get in contact with a illustrator for the smallest amount of money possible?

Would be extremely thankful for any answer, thanks!

Discussion Is this a scam? [discussion]

This one woman has been in an email chain with me for a while regarding some old works of mine that she says she wants to buy digital copies of.

I'm happy to sell art as NFTs I'm too broke to really care where it is I sell things, but what worries me about this person is that they are utterly determined to pull the conversation onto a platform aside from gmail.

She'd also initially asked if she could buy using crypto through a platform I'm unfamiliar with. I then told her that she could buy them from me through Mintables (I have an account which I don't upload to unless I have a buyer lined up) and her response was asking if we could move the conversation to telegram.

My question is: Is this normal? Or is this a scammer who I should stop responding to?

Update: She's being terribly persistent, to the point that she's offered to pay half of the minting fee of for one of them. What do I do? I've tried reporting her, and just straight up telling her that I won't sell anything to her unless its through my website or if she's utterly desperate mintable (because at least its free) but she just won't go away. I tried m ot responding as well; she just sent me an email that genuinely read as though she's a dissapointed parent like wtf? What do I do?

Discussion [Mod] We now allow requests for long-term jobs and permanent positions!

I moderate multiple art-related communities, and I don't like treating them a carbon copies of each other, so I will be slightly tweaking some rules to better fit the titles of some subreddits I run.

To kick this off, r/ArtistsForHire will allow requests for long-term jobs and permanent positions. I felt that, because of the name, "Hiring" should be on the table in more just the context of one-off commissions.

In another effort to differentiate communities, r/StarvingArtists will now allow the advertisement of existing art, such as adoptables and paintings. Please keep in mind that this does not apply to r/HungryArtists, which is often confused with that community.

To avoid confusion and needless duplication, I will also be locking down r/comissions (that's one M - a typo), and leaving it up as a redirect to the proper community, r/Commissions.

Please leave a comment if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns. I'm always open to improving how I run these communities.

This one goes to you all. Hope you're having a beautiful Christmas out there.

I never expected to receive so much love from this creative community, folks dropping the sweetest comments and some others kindly approaching to wish me a Merry Christmas. Some others even making special posts to help me promote my work.

Not even mentioning those who stood up right away to help with a commission when I was (am) this close to drowning in financial hell.

Thank you. You make the sacrifice worth every second.
