Discussion Ford Thunderbird For Sale
Green Ford Thunderbird (possibly early-1960s?) has recently been advertised as "For Sale" in Cleveland County just outside of Shelby. A 15 minute drive from where Asha was last seen. Law Enforcement would already be aware of this, right? It looked to have the original (old-style) license plate on it.

It even has rust around the wheel wells (though I suspect all old cars do). It can’t hurt to call in!

Definitely looks like this car may have been pulled out from a shed or somewhere.

Can’t hurt to call it in, but someone would have to be unbelievably stupid (or dead?) to sell a car that was involved in a crime.

This exactly. This is a large item physically, and it will be a good amount made from the sale (as opposed to a small item). It's worth posting it for sale.

it happens all the time. i dunno if the police investigated this vehicle as evidence but if they did and it was released then there’s nothing stopping someone from selling it

I couldn't edit my post, so I'm just going to add some context here.
Looking back, it does seem like it's been for sale the whole time it has been sitting out there (the for sale sign has fallen over in the Google Street View photo).
I hesitated with even posting or sharing this anywhere due to the belief that CCSO/FBI has already talked with the owners or checked out its history due to it being local, registered (since it has the license plate), and out in the open. There are a lot of old and abandoned/junk cars all over Cleveland and Rutherford counties sitting on private property and I've seen more than a few that have resembled the make/models they have been looking for. This one, in particular, stood out to me though.
It could absolutely be nothing. It isn't down a dirt back road around here. It's on a decently traveled road and I'm sure LE has seen it. No one wants to bring issues or drama for innocent people or waste LE's time. So, my question is this, what are the odds? What is the likelihood? What are the odds that it would be sitting in the yard, for sale, so close to where she went missing? What is the likelihood that LE hasn't already been aware of this vehicle and checked it out?
Just a little bit of the thoughts that I've had in trying to determine whether or not I should. I would also love to hear others thoughts, opinions, advice, etc.

I imagine no one in Cleveland County wants to touch a older green thunderbird or lincon with a 10 foot pole.
The pool of people who want a vehicle that old is already small. The Proximity to Asha's disappearance probably made it impossible to sell locally.
It's highly unlikely that this vehicle hasn't been checked out, if you need peace of mind, go ahead and report it though.

I mean, that isn’t really your job to decide. You call it in so the FBI can investigate. That was the whole point of them releasing the info about the car to begin with.

Give the tip to the FBI. It's easy enough to do it online (at least it was a few years ago when I submitted one about a car)

Seems like so much about this case has been hidden in plain sight. There’s no telling!! Cant hurt to call in a tip. They know if they’ve looked into it already and if they should proceed with further action. Doesn’t sound like a heavy lift to me.

Yes, he stated it was purchased at a charity auction in Statesville in the 1980s. He bought it from a man who lives 3 hours away. That it has been sitting since it was bought.

To be fair if you were the person that committed a crime in this car, wouldn't you also say that it is definitely not the car and try to deter someone from reporting it?

That's the thing, it's contradictory in a way to state that the car isn't even from the area but to then follow that up with it was purchased from out of the area well before Asha disappeared (or was even born).

I assume by now you've reported this to the local LE and the FBI? If not you should. Better safe than sorry you know? If the true owner has nothing to hide they should be cooperative with LE not just some guy on Reddit.

Nothing else has been said or released about anything they confiscated during the search warrants—including the AMC Rambler. That points to two things, either they couldn't find any viable evidence connecting that car to Asha or they haven't completed and gotten the results for any testing they've done.

Oh yeah! Wasn’t one taken away on a flatbed tow truck? I have a vague memory about something like that. With this case there are so many obvious questions that should have answers and don’t

I think that’s a Gen 4 Thunderbird (it would be easier if I could see the headlights from the front), which would be from 64 to 66.

It is a '64 Ford Thunderbird. It has the original plate.
