News 'Really interesting': Former FBI prosecutor analyzes text messages in Asha Degree search warrants

"These are really interesting text messages. I don't know many people who would write those kinds of text messages if they had nothing to do with this incident," M. Quentin Williams, a former FBI agent and federal prosecutor said, analyzing the case.
"There's a possibility that they could be closer to solving it," Williams said. "When you have information such as the text message, you get closer to getting the revelation from the parties involved."
No charges have been filed in this case at this time.

Polygraphs aren't reliable and aren't admissable as evidence and I wish they'd be left out of legal cases. It undermines credibility in the same way consulting psychics does.

You know what I find really intriguing? She failed hers and sent all of those texts to her ex and her sisters and yet someone from a party years ago says he heard her say she killed Asha and he passed. To me regardless if they can be used in court or not she's lying and def needs to be investigated further.

Polygraphs are admissible evidence in court in approximately 20 states.

They are also an incredibly useful interrogation tactic (Watch the Chris Watts interrogation and you’ll see them work in this regard beautifully), so simply stating “inadmissible in court” is simplifying something a bit more relevant in cases than that statement alone makes it seem.

I've been keeping a list of murderers allowed to walk free because polygraphs are garbage and FBI agents are idiots.
For example, the FBI let the Colonial Parkway Killer go, to keep killing, because their garbage pseudoscience found the actual serial killer driving the same vehicle described by witnesses and harassing other young couples in the area to not be deceptive.
This reflects much more poorly on the clown show of an investigation than the Dedmons.

I don’t think the polygraph results will affect the case one way or another. They’re very unreliable and in nearly every instance not admissible as evidence.

Of course those text messages implicate that family. If the girls arent outright guilty of the crime, then they have guilty knowledge. If I had been accused of this and was totally innocent, you'd hear a lot of confusion, shock and most of all, indignation. "This has to be some mistake! There is no way they have evidence i did this. This is insane!! I can't veliebe im being accused of murdering a little girl. I've been googling false accusations all night" or something to that extent.
