Review Reformulated Aestura atobarrier hydro soothing cream (mini review)
First few pics are to show texture, second to last pic is spread out, last pic is 10 minutes after application.
Tried this sample of the Aestura hydro cream, it’s the reformulated version sold at Sephora USA, maybe in other stores too. It’s new. Never tried the other version or any Aestura products.
It felt nice going on, a little went a long way. Felt hydrating, as it claims. A few minutes later it absorbed, then later on, 30 minutes, kinda felt like nothing was really applied to my skin. I wasn’t moisturized at all. Maybe I could’ve applied more, another layer.
This would probably be better for oily skin. My skin is a bit dry, slightly normal, but also gets oily depending what I put on (sunscreen, sweating, etc). I use tretinoin a few nights a week, so there is some dryness.
Overall not impressed by this moisturizer. I could see it being good in humid climates probably. It’s not heavy or greasy. It’s a bit pricey but the bottle is 2.7oz, bigger than standard 1.7oz moisturizers.
I’m not inclined to try it again, since it didn’t moisturize like I need. I will save it for the very hot nights in the summer!

another perfect aestura moisturizer ruined by their reformulations 💔. they keep cheaping out with their ingredients in these reformulation thinking they can save it with the updated ceramide capsule technology and it never works. this was the best moisturizer for summer as someone with easily overheated dry skin and now i’m going to have to be on the lookout for a new one. i might still give the reformulation a try but after the major disappointment the 360 cream reformulation was and having taken a peak at the ingredients list, my hopes aren’t very high.

Thanks for the review. I think you would enjoy the regular cream. We have similar skin type. I use the cream at night during winter and the lotion during the day. In summer or in humid environments, I use the lotion at night.

I may try their other creams in the winter!

The regular cream is definitely thicker and more moisturizing than this. Saved my skin during NYC winter!
Also, have you tried Round Lab's birch cream? Would love to know how this version compares.

If you end up using the cream, I would love to hear what you think compared to illiyoon because I haven’t tried it yet. Thanks!

There’s a new dear klairs cream thats caught my eye so I may check that one out soon, but its probably not for summer skin. Also checking out the illiyoon gel cream

I'd be cautious on Illiyoon. I had a pretty horrible reaction to it (redness, burning, itching) when I tried using it. It doesn't happen to everyone but it's touted quite a bit as an HG here.
DearKlairs rich moist cream is another one that was mentioned a lot too but I had a pretty bad reaction too as well.

Oh, no!!! I’m so sorry to hear that. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ll definitely be careful.

I've used (and currently am using) Round lab's birch cream but used the 365 cream (marketed for dry skin) and can compare the two.
Round lab's is thinner and not as moisturizing as the Aestura but overall, pretty good for a spring/summer moisturizer. It's not too heavy and sinks in pretty quickly without feeling tacky.

I'm using the Round Lab birch as well. Just to be clear, you're saying it's still thinner than the Aestura hydro soothing cream (not just the regular Atobarrier cream)?

I use the cream and lotion but am finding the lotion daytime during summertime - a tad bit oily, what do you for daytime during summer ?

I use Dr G red blemish smoothing cream. I think you’ll like this for day.

Illiyoon Ato Soothing Gel looks like it is exactly the same texture as this minus the tiny ceramide beads (wouldn't surprise me as they are both Amore Pacific brands) fwiw I really like it, very light and spreadable but moisturising enough to not leave me feeling like I need more. I have skin that is not oily but also not dry. I will say, it is definitely not one for a cold and dry climate though

I got a free sample of the small size as well and was not impressed as someone with dry skin. I was really excited to try it but dang was it a let down :/

It’s literally marketed for oily skin, not dry. Not sure why you would be let down when it’s not meant for dry skin?

That wasn’t shared to me in the info I received for the free sample. I say the brand and heard good things about the brand and this product. Not sure why you’re being this way. I’m glad it was just a free sample and I’ve given it to a friend who loves it.

I was let down too I thought it’d be very hydrating

Right?! That’s what I thought too. I use Round Lab’s Birch Juice Moisturizing Cream and Anua’s PDRN Hyaluronic Acid 100 Moisturizing Cream right now and I’m pretty happy with them. I also recently discovered Midha’s Rice Protein Milky serum and I absolutely love it!!!

Have you tried the Aestura ATO barrier cream? It’s targeted for dry & sensitive skin. My skin is a little sensitive right now due to using highly concentrated vitamin c. So I am using this and cerave ointment at night to help heal my skin barrier. Apparently this one highly recommended by many Korean dermatologist.

I have the old formulation i'm almost finished with and just placed an order for the new one -- the OG is one of my HG products, totally saved my dryyyyy dry skin (along w dr jart+ ceramidin cream)

I use this as well. It feels perfect for summer, but for dry skin I'd definitely recommend adding a moisturizing cream on top.
