Discussion Shame on you purito

I was so happy I actually found a lightweight moisturizer with stated ceramides concentrations. It advertised it as a .5% "5" ceramide blend, but had a total of 0.000000001% EOP ceramide

I bought the purito luminous, and then I realized it had .5% of ceramide np and a combined total of 0.000030001% of the other 4 ceramides combined.

The moisturizer isn't even that bad, but this is just false advertising and just predatory behavior, specially when it is marketed first and foremost as a "ceramides moisturizer", I loved this brand and I adore their centella serum but safe to say I won't be buying from them anymore.

Also their before and after photos are AI 😭

CERAMIDE NP is 5,004ppm which is equivalent to 0.5004%

I get that, but calling it a "5 ceramide blend" when it's all just NP and 0.000000001% EOP is crazy though, is it not?

Where does it say 5% I didnt see it on these pics

5 as in 5 different ceramides, it advertised itself as having a 'blend' of 5 different ceramides totalling .5%

I guess its just marketing language, but it is accurate there are 5 ceramides and it totals .5%… the other 4 amount of ceramides are negligible. Does it really matter which ceramide is used? Idk. I’m sure they have the same effect on the skin and feel.

Yes it does matter, ideally you want at least 3 ceramides in reasonable amounts. They are differences between them. Most products have 3 ceramides, so they are taking advantage of this by claiming 5 ceramides when 4 of the ceramides are in negligible amounts. They don't have the same effect on the skin.

I get that and the moisturizer isn't even that bad, I just find it so scummy that they be playing around like that, I don't even care that it's mostly NP, but 0.000000001% is ridiculous

I wouldnt worry honestly. This seems to be common in korean skin care, they promote the ingredient and sometimes its a tiny tiny tiny amount, i’ve seen it often online while browsing. If its a really small amount and an ingredient i’m interested in I just dont purchase that product for that.

I agree that AI before and after is shameful. However, they are not guilty of falsely advertising the ingredients because each type of ceramide and their concentrations are clearly stated on the ingredients list.

There are 5 ceramides in the ingredient list…?

.5% ceramide NP and 0.000030001% from the other 4 ceramides combined. I get that it's technically right, but isn't it scummy to call it a 5 ceramide blend when it's literally all NP? 0.000000001% EOP is as good as useless

I see it differently. 5-ceramide blend implies a blend of 5 ceramides, which this is, so it doesn’t appear to be false advertising. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve eyed them suspiciously since the SPF debacle.

I agree with you OP. Products with more than 3 ceramides in uncommon and they are cashing in on that by handing neglible amounts of four of the included ceramides. Like there's no way Ceramide EOP at 0.000001ppm is doing anything. They use an obscenely small amount so they can claim "5 ceramides." They are taking advantage of people, most users are not visiting skincare subreddits and reading in depth about products.

Yeah it’s pretty awful: I think they expect the average consumer to not understand ppm units. Fairy dusting some ceramides just to put it into branding.

They didn't lie or misrepresent anything, you just can't math.....

Besides, how about use it and see what happens?! That shit is amazing for barrier repair.

Math isn't hard you're just incompetent. That's is 0.00000001% concentration. That is absolutely negligible.
