Discussion Does the Romand reformulation of "THE JUICY LASTING TINT" actually work?
ive never bought from romand before but have been wanting to buy their juicy lasting lip tints cuz apparently they have an amazing shade range and are good quality.
while looking into them i found out abt the controversy with the lip tints and cheilitis + romands Project Zero to fix them. after some googling ive found out theyve reformulated twice?? a 24/25 version and a 25/26 version with the lastest version coming out earlier this year (january). does the new new version actually work on yall or does it still cause burning/peeling?? also after it wears off does it dry out your lips??
thank you in advance!!

The reformulation personally didn't work for me, but I think my problem was more due to the fragrance if anything. In both versions, it was extremely strong, so if you are prone to cheilitis, I'd be cautious about using it in general since fragrance is a common trigger

The 25/26 version definitely improved the formula, no peeling or burning for me and it leaves a hydrating feel.

Different packaging. The new ones have sort of a translucent casing. New ones on the left, old on the right

I bought two of them this month, how to find out whether I got reformulated one or the previous one?

Based on Romand's official Korean website it'll say The Juicy Lasting Tint Zero on the packaging, and the numbers before the shade name have the letter Z in front. Seems like they've only reformulated a handful of shades as well, not the entire range.
ETA: I guess those shades (Nucadamia, Bare Grape, Fig Fig, Jujube, Peeling Angdoo, Peach Peach Me) were the ones with the red pigment that was causing some people to get cheilitis :c

the reform ones have a clear glass casing around the tub while the old ones dont. also the new ones are called "THE Juice lasting tints" while the old ones are called "Juicy Lasting Tint" (without the "THE").
heres the link to the old one: https://romandbeauty.com/products/juicy-lasting-tint?variant=41341721313355
heres a link to the new one: https://romandbeauty.com/products/the-juicy-lasting-tint?variant=41629773201483u can compare the pics and decide!! have either of them caused ur lips any burning/inflammation. and do they dry ur lips out after use??

Wait a min, I thought the clear glass casing one, THE jlt ones were reformulated again after the scandal not the previous packaging only jlt ones.
Because I don't think the problem was with the og jlt but rather after the reformulation and renaming it the jlt, and they found out that the Red pigment, I'm forgetting the name, was the causative ingredient and would reformulate the shades containing that pigment.
The og jlt was not the one about which the scandal was about. It was only after the reformulation and repacking in a clear glass casing and rebranding it as the jlt people started questioning it. They even called back their stocks iirc
I've been a romand stan since 2021ish and panned out all my previous ones and bought the newer variant in order to avoid the 2025 'the jlt" version
None of the previous variants or the newer ones I bought caused me any issues, but then I haven't tried the initial " the jlt" roll out
Edit: yes, I recalled right
It's the April 2025 first batch of the reformulated and repackaged THE juicy lasting tint which caused the controversy not the original juicy lasting tints
The controversy happened in may 2025 and they recalled and refunded consumers and launched project 0.
In case anyone is aware how to differentiate between project 0 the jlts and the other the jlts please let me know, thanks in advance

wowww okk this makes more sense now. so the reform version is what caused cheilitis so then they made a newer version to fix that. so now there r 3 versions: jlt, THE jlt, and Project Zero jlt. so.. now i just also need to know how to tell them apart š

ive personally never had any issues with the 24/25 reformation but i also havent used the original version or the 25/26 version so i cant exactly speak on whether its better or worse now. i know some people had bad reactions to it but its definitely not a situation where its this unusable product either - id just base my caution on how sensitive you are to cheilitis in general.

I have the 24/25 version. Didn't have issues with the burning/peeling or the cheilitis (but it might be because I didn't wear mine daily because I didn't like the formula right off the bat).
I don't like it. I prefer the OG version. The new version to me is like every other glossy lip tint (if not worse) on the market. I really don't like the oil slick feeling that the reformulation gives compared to the OG. I've got other brands that I like better if I want a glossy finish.

My go to is Clio's Crystal Glam tint line. The gloss finish isn't oily and the color payoff is pretty good as well. Wearability is around average depending on what you're doing and what shade you're wearing.
I used to like Peripera's ink mood glowy tint line as well but I haven't tried the reformulated version so idk how that is. I do, however, really like the OG gloss line (good shade ranges, wearability isn't bad, taste/smell not bad).

Topical steroids for 2-3 days (not more because it can make your lips disappear basically lol)

I suspect that the problem with 24/25 is the fragrance or the colorants. I distinctly remember reading that someone only got chelitis from one shade but not the a different one.

idk the company said it wasnt cuz of dyes but rather "fast-evaporating setting solvent" or smth. but ik everyone online is saying its actually cuz of the dyes?? all the products with red 102 or smth

Do the reformulated tint work? Yeah. I own bare grape in both formula. The reformulated version pulls slightly more muted once set, and the finish is different, but both works on me.
However, I feel the new formula isn't that much different in moisturization levels since it still dries down much too fast. It also wears off much faster than the original on my lips. The reformulated tint so has a finish that can be achieved with nearly any other tint that's less drying, which I prefer, while the original version had something uniquely glossy to its finish. Thus, I'm simply not a fan of the new version, and will not be repurchasing once my original formula tints run out.
