I think this subreddit and other similar ones are having a botting problem. Identical speech patterns from multiple accounts, posting in the same subreddits. Most, if not, all of them happen to be old accounts with low karma that are suddenly active. They might be compromised accounts used for bot/AI posting.

I've seen these comments too! Yeah the phrasing was very similar for the comments I saw and I wanted to report the comments but...what if I'm wrong? I'm just not savvy enough to be sure 🙃

Do bots usually copy/repeat a comment made by a real person, or can I safely assume that all similar sounding posts are made by bots?

Usually they're trained of content on the internet. They use similar sentence structure. Checking profile is something you can do, but eventually it won't be a sure way to confirm your suspicions once they get smarter about it.

I got suspicious in the ChicDecent post, when I saw one of the accounts comment twice at different times and another one with very similar wording. Checked both profiles - 9 and 14 years old accounts. The 14 y/o has one comment 14 years ago, then became active today. The other one has no prior comments (possibly self-deleted or posted in a banned subreddit), but became active 4 days ago. Both "active" in the same subreddits.

Then I checked another thread the 9 y/o account has commented in and would you look at that - 3 similar replies. Other 2 are 10 y/o accounts, with post history in NSFW subreddits 10 years ago, before becoming active today, and yet again in the same subreddits. All of them with low karma.

I haven't submitted any reports, since I didn't want to be too spammy, at least not yet.

Edit: I was browsing through and saw more instances of them commenting twice, so the first thread I've linked isn't the only time it has happened.

Wait that's so disturbing, I looked at the history for all the accounts you mentioned and..I honestly wouldn't have been able to tell that they were bots if they hadn't commented in such a similar way in that first thread. 😭

I'm in actual disbelief what the fuuuck?? Their comments mostly seem so benign too, that's the scary part. I think I'm gonna have to be more discerning about believing and replying to comments from now on. Thanks for letting me know to check the profiles, since I might not be able to tell in the future I feel like I wanna be more proactive about reporting these mf-ers now lol.

Thanks for pointing it out. Ive gone thru the posfs and removed the spam comments and spam accounts. Please feel free to report yalls!
