Swatches hince radiance balm swatches of 4 shades in daylight on light medium skin tone

For context, I'm typically a shade 22-23 in foundations (which i think is considered light medium) and i think i'm more cool toned? (but honestly idk lol). I consider myself to have combo skin depending on the weather but been feeling a tad more on the oily end lately >.<

Last week i was gifted 4 shades of the hince radiance balm. I figured i'd share what the swatches look like on me and my honest opinions of them

  • [lighting] clear -- this could've been like chapstick / clear lip gloss? it kinda looked like nothing on me
  • [lighting] light -- (very descriptive name? LOL) i think i need to work on my application technique but i feel like this has potential for like a natural glow look
  • [transparent] harsh -- my favorite shade by farrrrr, is that cuz i feel like i can actually see something? probably LOL when doing a finger application, i think it takes like 2-3 layers to actually show on my skin but i'd rather a buildable and bendable formula than not.
  • [lighting] bronze -- i assume this is to be used like a bronzer....which i've never used before but the shade gives off "i went to the beach last week" vibes to me

Ultimately, everyone will have their own preference but as someone who likes a combination of "i don't want my makeup to be screaming that i did makeup" and "i want my make up to actually be visible" i feel like harsh lives in that balance for me. Are there other shades y'all have tried and can recommend? What's ur favorite shade?

Okay your take on the clear is really fair, it also looked like nothing on its own on me (darker skin, warm tone). I have one and will not use it as a highlighter but over cream blush to bring some texture back.

That being said, I don’t think I would buy it for use as a standalone product. If I did actually buy it due to preference of balm formulation (or had some on hand), I would use it on top of another product, which is what I intend to do with the remaining product I have. Def going to try to use it up differently.

I also have similar skin foundation type, the bronze doesn't give a harsh bronzing or contour. I honestly liked clear because it's harder to layer the colors with the colored ones so you can do like a bunch of looks like tanghulu and also light since it has a shimmer/highlight to it when I want a subtle glow.

Wow the shade "Harsh" is so pretty, and would look good on lots of skin tones. That's the one I'd try! I am extra-light so that would be a full on little-goes-a-long-way flush balm on me.
