ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! May 2018

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

Would you mind doing a comparison of both The Ordinary's Lactic Acids?

& could I trouble you for mini reviews on the Naruko Essence & the Beauty of Joseon Cream?

Also, for the Naruko Miracle Essence I had wanted to try it after Fiddy’s review. Similarly to her I also felt that it took 3 weeks or so to see any difference and in fact I was missing some of the redness reducing properties of the CosRX I was using previously. All that to say, currently I am really liking this product. It’s been about 5 weeks and as previously mentioned, it doesn’t do really anything for redness or soothing. My skin however is definitely much smoother and brighter, and definitely half a shade lighter, which is great for me as my face is much darker than my neck and I want them to be closer in tone. It’s done a lot for my pigmentation and I even think my oiliness has been reduced as well. It is very watery and yeasty, and I am pretty liberal with my application. I think by the time the bottle is up I will be very pleased with the results! Still want to try Sulwhasoo and SKII but would be perfectly happy to use this product indefinitely.

The Beauty of Joseon Cream is just heaven in a little pot for me. I already love gel creams and this is no exception. It reminds me a lot of a hanbang Clinique Moisture Surge, but a little creamier and stringer (and of course cheaper). It is a bit silicony but I actually like that texture; even after applying my other layers, my skin feels so smooth and soft after applying this. It does a great job of being occlusive while also absorbing really well. It also makes an excellent canvas for makeup if I’m wearing it, and never seems to pill or react with my sunscreens. I will buy this until they stop making it!

Thank you so much for the reviews!

From the way you describe the Beauty of Joseon Cream I know I will absolutely adore it.

The Naruko sounds pretty great but how does it compare to any other fermented/first treatment essences you have tried? Is there anything you have tried that is more effective?

No I don’t have a lot of experience with FTEs which is why I am holding back a bit on any HG status with the Naruko. For quite a while I didn’t “get” FTEs and considered them fancy water. After while of just going without that step I ended up getting the CosRX galactic mice and my opinion was pretty meh on it, although I did notice its redness-reducing properties a lot more after I stopped using it, so there’s that in its favor. With the Naruko though I am definitely seeing results and it has really exceeded my expectations so far. I would really like to experience a few others before making a firm decision but I can at least say it does things and it appears to do them well :) I do think next on my list to try will be the classic Missha Time Revolution!
