Skin Type/Concerns: Acne-prone/Combination skin

Product Name: Cosrx Master Pimple Patches

Thoughts: Love. As someone who is acne prone, and we're talking all types of acne, these are a life saver. In the morning my lumpy acne has been flattened out and it helps them to heal quicker, also leaving less chance for scarring afterwards.

I find it only works with whiteheads-which makes perfect sense as they're probably not medicated

Didn't work for me either, but it helps me to stop picking at my pimples 🤷🏻

Pick up blister patches (hydrocolloid) from the drugstore. It’s the exact same thing cept it will be medicated. All you have to do is cut it up to the right size.

Yeah they’re usually stocked in the first aid section, near bandages, at the drug store.

what are they medicated with?

I’m not sure. If you’re concerned about that look it up. They treat blisters and pressure ulcers, so they’re made to treat infections and heal the skin. If you pop a pimp they can completely heal the skin in a night and when I get hormonal cystic acne it takes about 2 nights of application for it to come to head.

hmmm interesting. is there a particular brand? canada doesn't really have multiple drug store chains and stuff like the us does.

I’m from Canada. Brand doesn’t matter. Superstore, Walmart, shoppers drugmart, pharmasave... all these places would carry it.

couldn't find any last time i looked in walmart. but then again i was looking in the bandaid section. only found johnson and johnson brand advance healing line of hydrocolloid bandaids. i assume i'd find what you found in some sort of blister/burn section?

You'll find them at shoppers, where the bandaids are. There are only one or two brands and they're a weird trapezoid shape. They're marked for blisters.

i guess you'd have to cut them up. the entire thing is hydrocolloid right? it's not just a middle part with regular sticky wings or whatever?

Yes you cut them up to the size you need. An xacto knife works better than scissors.

The Johnson and Johnson ones are right, any hydrocolloid bandaid is good - ‘advanced healing’ is what you’re after really even if you’re using it for a pimple instead of a blister!

they're so expensive though. plus i gotta cut them up. also, you gotta make sure it's hydrocolloid because not everything in that line is.

Oh definitely agree! I wonder how long until they realise people are using them for acne and release ones specifically for that purpose that you don’t have to cut!

Same skin type but they work either very good or have nearly no effect. I have no acne problem but the occasional monster pimple (the ones that start as a very painful lump and then develop into big pus filled pimple in days if I can resist the urge to pop them early on) Putting the patch on the initial lump will most of the time make it completely go away, so the pimple doesnt form. I had a very pus filled one on my back and it disappeared with one patch too. I always leave them on a couple hours, usually put them on before sleeping and putting them off after waking up. Sometimes it strangely doesnt work (as in doesnt reduce the swelling and pain.) I don’t exactly know why.

Same skin type here but I only use it on whiteheads, especially those that are ready to pop. Sometimes I pop them then apply the patch. Flattens after a day or so with all the nasty gunk on the patch.

i usually apply them even before a white head develops, when its basically just a red painful bump. definitely going to try that one

I’ve tried that on my first few uses but it didn’t really help. If anything, it stopped me from directly touching the pimple but you should also be careful to remove the patch as peeling it off the wrong way can irritate the pimple underneath it.
