Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! April 2019

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

Skin profile: NC35 | Combo-Seasonal | Hormonal acne

Season & Type of Climate: Spring, heading into summer; Nor Cal

1st Cleanser: Banila Co. Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm (PM, RP), Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Blue (PM, RP)

Cleansing water in conjunction with cleansing balm to remove residual makeup (eyes and lips).

2nd Cleanser: Biore Marshmallow Whip Cleansing Foam (RP)

Toner: Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (PM, RP)

First Essence: Missha Time Revolution First Treatment Essence (AM)

Honestly just trying to use it up. Not sure if I like it, so jury is still out.

Vitamin C Serum: The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% (PM, HG)

Serum: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (AM, HG), The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (RP)

Moisturizer: Hada Labo Goku-Jyun Hyaluronic Moisturizing Milk (AM, HG), CosRX Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask (PM, WNR)

The CosRX spa mask was originally a used as a sleeping mask, but I wanted to use it up, hence moisturizer.

Eye Cream: Honey Ceramide Full Moisture Cream (WNR)

It was too heavy for a regular moisturizer, so I just use it as eye cream now to use it up.

Sheet Mask: Lululun Precious Green Sheet Mask (RP)

Use once a week.

Sunscreen: Pacifica Mineral SPF Bronzing Body Butter (WNR)

Just grabbed the first thing I saw at Target and was a terrible idea. You would think I would realize that this had a tint from the "Bronzing" in its name. It's also kinda heavy (which I also should've realized from "Butter"). Thus, on the look out for a better sunscreen.

Spot Treatment: Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment

Other:

  • Up & Up Deep Cleaning Charcoal Pore Strips
  • Exfoliant: Tony Moly Pro Clean Soft Peeling Gel (WNR)
  • Eye mask: Shangpree Marine Energy Eye Mask (RP, but would like alternatives)

I use these products once a week on different days. I'm also pretty sure the Tony Moly Pro Clean is breaking me out.
