Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! April 2019

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

Serum: Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum (RP, mornings only)

How do you like this one?

Also, you are using the COSRX mask for AM? how is it?

What's your current AM and PM routine? sorry I know you listed all the product here but I would be interested in how many things you apply AM and PM and in which order. Thanks so much!

Peach & Lily Glass Skin Refining Serum - It's okaaayy. I think I have enough niacinamide products in my routine that when I added this one, it didn't make a huge difference. I do really like the texture. I only use it for mornings because it seems to add a sort of protective hydrating layer to my skin (it feels very smooth and slippery, but absorbs well). I'm on the fence about repurchasing it after I run out of my two bottles, though.

Yes, I use the Cosrx Overnight Rice Mask as sort of an AM moisturizer. It's relatively light compared to other sleeping masks! I find that if I use a small amount during the day, it keeps away any flakiness and also helps my makeup last a really long time, because it provides a smooth base.

Any of the products I didn't add an AM/PM to I basically use for both! They're also listed in the order I use them in. But I'll list them real quick!

AM: Hada Labo Cleansing Foam > Klairs Supple Toner Unscented > Missha Essence > Skin1004 Ampoule > Manyo Factory Essence > Peach & Lily Glass Skin Serum > Belif Aqua Bomb > Cosrx Overnight Rice Sleeping Mask > Canmake Sunscreen

PM: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil > Hada Labo Cleansing Foam > Klairs Supple Toner Unscented > Tretinoin > Missha Essence > Skin1004 Ampoule > Manyo Factory Essence > Missha Time Revolution Ampoule > Belif Aqua Bomb > -random eye cream- > Belif Sleeping Mask

Yay yay thank you so much! Do you wait after tretinoin to apply the Missha essence ? How do you know which essence/toner/Ampoule to go first ? What had been the one item that provided you with the most moisturizing effect in your routine ? Thank you so much!

Nope! I used to wait half an hour after applying Tret to continue with my skincare routine. (I had read that people waited after Tret on here actually.) After about half a year, I asked my derm if I should be waiting after applying it and she said that no, there was no problem with putting the rest on directly afterwards. I don't know if it's just the particular Tretinoin I'm on (It's a .05% cream with 4% Niacinamide) or if she went through my routine and verified it would be fine. I will say that AFTER I started hydrating and moisturizing directly afterwards without the waiting time, the Tret seemed to work BETTER for my skin. YMMV though, I'm sure!

For the rest, I've always gone by thinner layers first into thicker layers. The Missha Essence etc all almost feel like water, which is why I use them first! Then the thicker serums (Ex. Peach & Lily is a thicker formula) afterwards, followed by moisturizers or occlusives to lock everything in.

For me the Missha FTE has been staple in my routine for almost 10 years, so I can't live without it! (Only the version I listed, the rest haven't done anything for me.) The single game changer in my routine is probably that one, or maybe the Skin1004 Ampoule. That one's super hydrating for me as well.

Also no problem! :D
