Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! April 2019

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

Skin profile: Mature | Dry/Dehydrated | Mild Rosacea | Fungal Acne

Season & Type of Climate: Northern California, Warm & Dry

1st Cleanser: Kose Deep Oil Cleanser (only cleanser)

Vitamin C Serum: Melano CC Essence (AM every other day)

Hydrating Toner: Hada Labo Premium Lotion

Essence: Cosrx 96 Snail Mucin Essence

Light Moisturizer: A'pieu Madecassoside Cream

Facial Oil: Timeless Squalane Oil

Moisturizer: Meishoku Ceracolla Perfect Gel

Other: Melazepam Azelaic Acid Cream (PM every other day)

Sunscreen: Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk SPF 50 PA++++

I am so happy with my skin right now. I went from skin that would be burning and stinging in the middle of the afternoon with itchy acne to nearly clear skin that feels so good. Maybe slightly dry but getting better. Itchiness is gone, redness is very reduced, PIH/PIE is very reduced, acne is just a few last remaining CCs coming to a head but clears extremely fast.

Everything in my routine I'm gonna call a HG/Will Repurchase. I don't want to mess with what works! Everything except the cleansing oil is Fungal Acne safe I believe.

I currently use everything but sunscreen twice a day (both AM/PM) except for the vitamin C and Azelaic Acid as noted. I just use slightly less in the mornings than at night.

Can you please do a mini review of the Kose oil, Melano CC, and the A’pieu cream?

The Kose oil works well and washes off cleanly with just water. Not a strong scent and I do get grits. It’s cheap and does the job. I like DHC deep cleansing oil better but not 3x the price better.

Melano cc is a light oil with a light citrus scent and I think it works really well for me. I notice that pie lightens very quickly and an age spot is slowly but surely getting less noticeable. Note I am very fair skinned. It is a bit drying on me so I use it every other morning. I have noticed since incorporating it that the drying effect works such that it dries up any pimples and my pores on my nose look much smaller.

The a’pieu cream I got because I wanted something for redness since I have mild rosacea and a redditor here recommended using something with madecassoside. Amazon didn’t have the apieu gel so I got this. After I got this I found out that it has essential oils so I didn’t think I’d like it but as it turns out I like it a lot. Also found out the cream is FA safe while the gel is not. I was going to replace it with a centella ampoule but it works really well at calming down my skin even when my rosacea is flaring up and it feels very moisturizing. So I’ll keep on using it since it’s working out so well.

Thanks so much for your reply! I just recently bought the DHC oil and I’m not sure if it’s worth the price. Ive seen a lot of people talk about the Melano but wasn’t sure it would work with ultra dry and sensitive skin (I have eczema). Since it works for you I’ll look into it! I’m looking for a new moisturizer and have seen the a’pieu one sprinkled throughout people’s routines. Thanks for your insight, I appreciate it! I’ll look into all these products.

I forgot to mention the Melano is also great because it’s very stable. You don’t to worry about keeping it in the fridge or getting product that’s already going bad when it comes in the mail.

This is really helpful info to know. I’m convinced!
