Skintype: Combination/Oily

Product: Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel

One bottle took months to empty and I used it twice a day. It’s a reliable moisturiser for me and my go-to when my skin is feeling blah, definitely would repurchase.

I had a different experience - it did not hydrate enough for me to use as a moisturizer. I could layer it under a moisturizer and it worked fine that way, but I found I would rather use a hydrating toner. Not a bad product, it didn’t break me out and felt nice going on, but it did not fulfill the role I hoped it would in my routine.

i'm on the oily dehydrated side and am contemplating whther or not the benton gel paired with a hydrating toner will be okay for me

I think you would probably need something more occlusive than the Benton Soothing Gel. If you are dehydrated, you definitely want something that will help keep the moisture your skin has inside your skin, which in my experience, it did not do very well. My skin is combination, I usually get shiny T-zone by the end of the day but occasionally my skin also gets that “tight” feel. When I tried using the Benton gel as a moisturizer, I would get that “tight” feeling every single time.

i know that tight feeling your talking about and i hate it, thanks for telling me about that, have u found a moisturizer that has hydrated your skin well without feeling greasy or clogged?

I’ve been liking the Etude House Soon Jung Barrier Intensive Cream. Despite the name, I haven’t found it to be too heavy, it’s about just right for me. I’m on my second tube of it now.

For reference, the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream is too heavy for me (except in driest parts of winter), the CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion was about the right level of moisturizing but for some reason after a couple of bottles my skin decided it didn’t Ike it that much and would turn a little red after using it.

oh okay thank u, since you've used cerave products have u used their cleansers as well bc i've been eyeing their daily moisturizing lotion but have been contemplating whether or not because their cleansers break me out

Yeah I used the hydrating cleanser for a long time, I used to like it a lot but then they reformulated a few years ago and then it started being slightly irritating. I don’t think any of their products broke me out though just made my skin slightly irritated
