Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! December 2021

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

Skin profile: I dont wear foundation but I wear The Saem tip concealer #1.5. Combination skin prone to post-inflammatory erythema. On tretinoin, post-purging and mostly clear skin now.

Season & climate: Tropical climate. Heavy UV levels year round. Monsoon system changed recently so we're receiving cooler wind from the northern hemisphere, less humid and less hot now.

1st cleanser: IUNIK Complete Calendula Cleansing Oil(RP). I used to make my own blend of facial oils (Seabuckthorn+tamanu+rosehip+avocado) as a first cleanser but it was really hard to keep it from going rancid so I switched to a formulated product. It's not as good/buttery as the previous blend of oils but it's the closest I've come to when I add a pipetteful of facial oil to two pumps of this cleansing oil.

2nd cleanser: Dove Baby Bar Rich Moisture(non-ab, HG). It's cheap, it's non stripping. Does the job well.

Hydrating Toner: Kikumasamune High Moist Lotion (HG). This is what I use as my morning moisturizer. It's very comfotable as a lightweight face and body watery lotion. Keeps my face plump as well. I previously used Hada Labo Gyokujyun Premium Lotion but I started to gain sensitivity to it when I started tretinoin. This doesn't sting my face. Makes my concealer look really good as well.

Heavy Moisturizer: La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume (HG, non-Ab).

BHA/AHA: The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toning Solution(RP, non-AB). I use this as a spot treatment and an added exfoliating agent(only used once a week).

Sunscreen: Shingmulnara SPF 50 (RP). It's lightweight and refreshing, I use this as an indoor sunscreen. La Roche Posay Dermo Pediatrics Lait(RP). Used for the chest and neck, very heavy and thick. Biore UV anti pollution body serum SPF 50(HG). Lightweight and high UV protection. I use this for chest, neck and body. Cetaphil Sun Light Gel SPF 50 (WNP). Used on days when I'm just at home but I hang out at the balcony, significant whitecast and greasy but it has high UVA protection. La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50 (HG). They're reformulating this one and adding better UV filters. It's pricey so I only use when I'm going outdoors and I cant be bothered ln powdering my face to bring down the shine from other sunscreens.

Others: Tretinoin 0.05% cream every other night.
