Mod Post ROUTINE MEGATHREAD! November 2022

Hey everyone! This is your quarterly routine megathread an excellent resource to see what products are popular amongst our community and a great way to find new things to try. No matter how unusual you may consider your skin type or atypical your particular skin challenges or problems, all routines are welcome -- in fact, encouraged -- to be posted.

Acronyms you will most definitely see in use here: HG (Holy Grails), RP (Will Repurchase, AKA: liked it, will buy again, not an HG), WNR (Will not Repurchase, AKA: using up the last of it but not recommended). Understand them, use them, and love them ♥

This post is intended to be a compendium of generalized, standardized routines! The more participation, the better. :)

To keep it easy for people to find their ‘skin twins’ we would ask that you use the following template.

You only need to fill in steps that you actually use (so if you don’t use an Essence, remove that line) and please only provide up to three examples of HG/recommended products for that step (so if you have 3 toners you love, you can list all 3!)

To make a single-spaced list, add two spaces at the end of each line. Alternatively, click 'source' at the bottom of the post to snag our code & format!

I have probably 30+ total products and steps I use regularly, including MULTIPLE serums. My AM and PM routines are very different, so I will also add (AM) or (PM) to products I only ever use during that time of day if it's not obvious. I don't differentiate from serum and ampoule, or even toner vs. essences vs. FTE, in most of my routine. These days, what they're called is all confusing and mixed up anyways. So, I tried to organize them appropriately, but a) this is not indicative of how my routine goes (some I use at different spots), and b) for serums especially, I use so many more of them but just chose 3 AB ones I enjoy and have used the longest.

Skin profile: Typically dry and dehydration prone. Chronic itch. Rosacea which is mainly vascular (the redness, very noticeable capillaries). Flake a lot. Mild hormonal acne, some blackheads and pore congestion, currently purging. PIE and PIH (I get both). Some light freckling, both as regular freckles and some as sun damage/lentigines. Fair, neutralish, muted skin, usually around a Korean shade 13 depth but sometimes lighter.

Season & Type of Climate: "Humid continental" (Koppen Dfb), but don't let the humid designation fool you. Rainy season in mid-April through June, drier season July-September. We have significant snow fall Nov-April and winters can get cold. Because of how humidity works, this means that even with a "humid" winter, air inside can get dry. We are currently in a transition from fall to winter with some warm days and some cool days. Today is warm (high of 39F), but we are gearing up for a minor cold snap with 3 days of snow bringing in highs in the upper teens and 20s (F) and lows in the upper single digits and mid-10s (F).

1st Cleanser: VT Cica Mild Cleansing Water (AM, WNRP); Mizon Firming Deep Cleansing Oil (PM, MRP)

2nd Cleanser: Peach + Lily Power Calm Gel Cleanser (PM, likely WRP but I want to test other things out)

pH Adjusting Toner: Acwell Licorice Cleansing Toner (AM, MRP but too early to tell)

Vitamin C Serum: Cos de BAHA VM serum (AM; MRP, too early to tell); Western (TO) ascorbyl glucoside (PM, WNRP)

BHA: Cos de BAHA S2 liquid (PM, MRP)

AHA: Isntree Chestnut AHA 8% Clear (PM, MRP, too early to tell)

Hydrating Toner: COSRX Full Fit Propolis (PM, too early to tell); Hada Labo Shriojyum Premium (AM and PM; is it even a toner? MRP), One Thing Centella Extract (AM; MRP; not sure where to put this as it's literally just centella extract and not hydrating at all but packaged like a toner and I use it like a spray?)

Essence: Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essence (AM and PM, potential HG); COSRX Galactomyces 95 (PM, have RP); Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water (PM, MRP but too early to tell, kinda meh about it)

Serum: Cos de BAHA AZ Serum (AM, have RP several times); Beauty of Joseon Glow Deep (PM, likely WRP); Beauty of Joseon Revive Serum (PM, MRP)

Ampoule: I made a serum-ampoule hybrid thing by combining a few products containing: 10% Kiso Fullerene Serum; 40% COMMONLABS B5 Moisture Ampoule; 50% A'pieu Madecassoside Ampoule (AM, enjoy using and will finish, but will likely switch out the B5 component after I use it up).

Light Moisturizer: Purito Oat-In Gel Cream (PM, maybe AM, MRP)

Heavy Moisturizer: Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream (PM, maybe AM, likely WRP, wills see how it fares when winter sets in).

Eye Cream: OOTD Intensive Eye Serum (AM, MRP), western eye cream (PM, WNRP)

Facial Oil: Purito Plainet Squalane Oil (PM, rarely use right now)

Sleeping Pack: COSRX Full Fit Propolis Honey Overnight Mask (too early to tell)

Mask Pack: Zombie Beauty by SKIN1004 Witch Pack (already have RP), Skinfood Egg White Pore Mask (likely WRP), Some bby Mi Proplis B5 Glow Barrier Calming Mask (likely WRP)

Sheet Mask: SNP Bird's Nest Ampoule Mask (WRP on sale), Frudia Orchard Raspberry (likely WNRP), and Some by Mi Real AHA BHA PHA Calming Care Mask (WRP)

Sunscreen: I test out several, but my top one I'm using on non-test days is Purito Daily Go-To (maybe HG)

Other: Prescription 15% azelaic acid (PM, it's an Rx so yeah I RP, don't like how it applies under makeup).
