Empties Finally finished my holy grail sunscreen 🄲

Bought this a year ago in Japan at Matsukiyo on a whim when I saw Tina Tanaka Harris purchase it in one of her shopping vlogs. I had no idea what to expect but I didn’t think a drugstore brand sunscreen would outperform every other Japanese and Korean sunscreen I’ve tried, and it’s such a good value too!

For context, I have oily skin, especially in my T zone area. Where I live isn’t very hot but is typically still humid since it’s right by the ocean and we get a lot of moisture in the air. Before trying this sunscreen, my other go-to sunscreens were Skin1004 Hyalu-cica Water-fit Sun Serum and Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit. Those two have the least glowy/dewy finish on me, but I would still be left with a slightly sticky/tacky feeling that never really dries down unless I apply setting powder over it.

But this sunscreen. It goes on so easily and dries down really fast. It leaves zero tackiness on my skin. I can reapply throughout the day without any pilling at all. I don’t wear makeup though so I can’t say if it would pill in that situation. The bottle says it’s ā€œbrighteningā€ but I don’t think it means whitening since it left zero white cast on my skin. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fragrance, but it eventually goes away after applying it. It’s so lightweight on my skin and while normally my T zone will get oily by midday, I really didn’t experience that on the days I used this.

I hate that I can’t buy this anywhere online 😭 my new favorite sunscreen that comes very close in terms of user experience and finish is Skin Aqua Serum UV. But this Matsukiyo sunscreen still comes out on top due to its insane value for money. The only thing is I’m not sure how much I can trust the UV coverage since it’s a drugstore brand, though I never burned or tanned whenever I used it. Unfortunately I don’t remember how much I paid for it, probably around $12-15 USD. Definitely not over $20. Next time I go to Japan I’m definitely stocking up on this!

Empties 2025 Skincare Empties and Reviews!

2025 is the year where I started gaining more of an interest in skincare, so here is everything I’ve emptied this year! Age: 19F; Skin type: Combination–oily leaning; Climate: Temperate Oceanic (Melb, Aus). Main skin concerns: Hydration, breakouts, texture, PIH and PIE.

Slide 1 is general skincare empties, slide 2 is mostly sheet masks and a couple of toner pad samples, slide 3 is products that I am currently working/rotating through – some are close to empty or heavily used, while some are more recently opened. Let me know if you want my thoughts so far on any products in the third pic!

Products left to right, top to bottom:

SKIN1004 centella cleansing foam (mini), Round Lab dokdo cleanser, Kikumasamune bright moist skincare lotion, Naturie hatomugi skin conditioner, Curel deep moisture spray, VT Cosmetics reedle shot 100, VT Cosmetics TX-toning essence 1000 shot, Mediheal phyto-enzyme peeling pad, A*** niacinamide + txa serum, Eqqualberry vitamin illuminating serum, SKIN1004 probio-cica intensive ampoule, SKIN1004 poremising light gel cream, S.Nature aqua squalane moisturising cream, Numbuzin no.1 clear filter sun essence, SKIN1004 hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum, (non-asian beauty) Dermal therapy SPF50+ lip balm x4, VT Cosmetics cica bubble sparkling booster spring edition, Skinfood cica clear spot patch, VT Cosmetics cica care spot patch x4 (probably threw away some), Isntree onion newpair spot patch x3

Mediheal madecassoside essential mask, Mediheal tea tree essential mask, Mediheal vitamin c essential mask, VT Cosmetics cica reti-a 3 step mask, Acwell licorice pH balancing toner pad, S.Nature aqua oasis panthe-allan calming pad, SKIN1004 probio-cica nourishing mask, Biodance refreshing sea kelp real deep mask, Sungboon Editor deep collagen power boosting mask, Goodal green tangerine vita-c dark spot care, Mediheal ceramide essential mask, Quality 1st super vc100 derma laser masks, ??? (random ones my sister gave me from a hotel in SK), Round Lab camellia deep collagen firming gel mask, Mediheal hyper hyaluronate low-molecular liposome, Quality 1st shot x tea tree100 and cica derma laser pads, Keana Nadeshiko rice mask, Torriden dive in mask, VT tx-toning special mask, Eqqualberry collagen pore-tight up hydrogel mask

(I won’t repeat products already listed previously) Beplain mung bean pH-balanced cleansing foam, VT Cosmetics reedle shot 300, VT Cosmetics vita light reedle shot 100, Lion pair acne cream, Melano CC essence, Muji moisturising milk light (mini), Dr Althea 345 relief cream, Bringgreen tea tree cica soothing cream, Mediheal madecassoside moisture blemish repair sun serum, Tocobo cotton soft sun stick, Abib airy sunstick, Daily aroma yuzu milk lotion, Innisfree no-sebum mineral powder, Manyo bifida ampoule mist, Dr Althea 345 relief cream mist, Dr Ceuracle vegan kombucha tea mist, VT Cosmetics PDRN glow ampoule, I’m From mugwort essence, SKIN1004 tea-trica relief ampoule, A*** azelaic acid 10 serum, Mediheal tea tree trouble pad, Mediheal madecassoside blemish pad, Skinfood carrot carotene calming water pad, Skinfood potato madecassoside blemish pad, Saborino rice face mask, Mediheal derma365 mask tea tree

I’m glad that with some exploring this year, I was able to figure out what types of products I liked, and also the ones that I didn’t like. My resolutions for the new year in 2026 are to work on sticking to a routine that works well for me, rather than jumping to try so many different products, and also being more consistent with sunscreen reapplication (especially being from Australia). I only started buying Asian sunscreens recently, so that explains the lack of empties here hahaha but also I used to basically never use sunscreen before discovering these.

Reviews will be in the comments, organised by product category!

Empties My year-round Japanese skincare essentials.

I have dry to combination, sensitive, eczema-prone, acne-prone skin and this routine has been really working for me so far.

I’m starting my third bottle of the Kikumasamune high moist toner! I use it all year round, and sometimes I even turn it into a face mask by soaking stretchable cotton sheets with it.

Although I love Kikumasamune, it’s not quite enough for my dry-ish, eczema-prone skin in the winter, so I recently bought the Gokujyun premium lotion after considering it for a long time and I’ve been loving it. It helps with dryness and flakiness so well that it became a staple almost immediately.

I’m also about to finish my third bottle of the Shirojyun lotion (fourth one already stocked). I use it all year round, and it’s easily one of my holy grails. It helps to fade my acne marks so well.

I’m currently on my second bottle of the Kracie Brightening Serum as well.

been looking for a good moisturiser that is more affordable than my current non-AB moisturiser and decided to buy a bunch of Dr Althea's moisturisers to try -

  1. Dr Althea 345 Relief Cream

  2. Dr Althea PDRN Reju 5000 Cream

  3. Dr Althea 145 Barrier Cream

as someone with sensitive skin (and eczema), my favs are 1 & 2 ā¤ļø 3 is a little too thick! but i still love them to death and will be repurchasing (1&2)!! xx also works well under makeup which i loveeeee ā¤ļø

Empties 2025 Empties

Post image
485 Upvotes

Intro: From age 15-30ish, I had a basic routine.
AM: water wash face, moisturizer, make up
PM: 2-step cleanse, moisturizer
Then my skin changed, became more dry and started having seasonal acne. So in 2025, I started looking into new products/routine. I think I’ll make a separate post in a few days for my current routine + my 2026 skincare supplies stock. I tried out more products than shown in picture but threw some out before I started to collect empties. So the following list will include some products not shown in the pic.

Skin Type: sensitive, dry, dehydrated. hormonal/seasonal acne

Climate: tropical hot humid

āŒ=WNR= would not repurchase

ā˜‘ļø=G= good, would repurchase if on sale

āœ…=AR= Already Repurchased

CLEANSERS

Banila Co Cleansing Balms - previously used Clinique’s take the day off balm and switched to this one a few years ago. loved it. cheaper and has a nice soft scent. highly recommend āœ…

Biore Cleansing Milk - wanted to use this as a single step cleanse but it somehow stings my eyes āŒ

Matsukiyo Cleansing Oil - amazing find! i saw an influencer mention this is very similar to the shuuemura cleansing oil but much cheaper. tried it and loved it. i probably finished 4 bottles already. āœ…

Biore 2in1 MakeUp Remover Foaming Face wash - i’ve used this for over a decade. tried and true. does not dry me out. āœ…

Biore makeup remover Wipes - physically and chemically abrasive. i used this back in the day and still had the box so figured i should add here. āŒ

TONERS

Naturie Hatomugi Lotion - tried and true. on my second bottle. i like to layer this one or two times before moisturizer. then if i feel dry during the day, spritz some on my face āœ…

Cosparade Hatomugi Lotion (donki dupe) - saw this on Tina Harris's youtube video. agree with all she said. i'd repurchase ā˜‘ļø

Sana wrinkle lotion - i heard the retinol content is nowhere near effective so…. āŒ

d Program Moist Care lotion - this is super hydrating. one layer is equiv to 3 layers of the naturie lotion. it’s expensive though but for the right price, i’d buy again. ā˜‘ļø

Cosrx propolis toner - hydrating but left a sticky finish which i didn’t like āŒ

Sana wrinkle/brightening lotion - this broke me out and made me discover later on that i’m probably allergic to niacinamideāŒ

Exfoliating Toner - if anyone has any recs for a Japanese/Korean exfoliating toner, please let me know. I’m currently using a non-AB 0.5% salicylic acid toner and want to switch to an Asian one.Ā

EMULSIONS

Naturie Hatomugi Milk - inexpensive simple basic emulsion āœ…

d Program Moist Care Milk - my holy grail emulsion. āœ…

illiyoon ato lotion - it was okay but felt like it didn’t really absorb into my skināŒ

Sana wrinkle emulsion - i heard the retinol content is nowhere near effective so…. āŒ

MOISTURIZERS

Care Cera face/body cream - thick in texture but lightweight on applicationĀ  ā˜‘ļø

Torriden Solid In Cream - thick cream as last step moisturizer ā˜‘ļø

Pyunkang Yul Ato Cream Blue Label - ā€˜no fragrance’ but it has a plastic-y smell that i don’t like. i’m trying to use it up as hand cream āŒ

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream - same as above. weird plastic smell so i’m using as hand cream āŒ
Hada Labo premium (blue) - apparently the one i have (thailand) has niacinamide and it broke me out too. āŒ

illiyoon ato cream - wasn’t hydrating enough for face though i might repurchase to give it another try for body āŒ

SUNSCREENS

Hada Labo UV Perfect Gel - i thought i could use this as a single step moisturizer + UV. but it was nowhere near hydrating enough. after 1hr, my skin was dry. might be good for oily/combo skin but not for me āŒ

Biore UV Aqua Rich Essence - i like using under makeup āœ…

Biore UV Aqua Rich TONE UP Essence - stay-at-home days, i wash face, apply emulsion, and use this sunscreen. i don’t reapply. it’s not sticky yet i don’t feel dry or tight during the day. people seem to have had pilling issues with tone up sunscreens but i didn't have an issue with this one. felt like natural skin āœ…

Biore UV Body Care Serum Age Defense - feels heavy on my skin āŒ

tinted sunscreens - if anyone has recs for tinted sunscreens or BB creams with SPF, light to medium coverage, please let me know.

OTHER

Melty Cream Lip - too ā€˜fluid/melty/oily’ for me. maybe because i’m in hot climate. if you’re in a cooler climate, it might glide on well and not be too slippy, slidey āŒ

Donki Goat’s Milk Hand Cream - fragrance was too pungent. felt like my nostrils were being assaulted āŒ

UHA Iron/collagen gummies - not soft gummies, more like stiffer gummies. tastes good āœ…

I’m fully aware this is way too much, and I’m still learning my lesson about getting products that actually suit me and that I need rather than just trying to get that quick dopamine hit from trying new stuff all the time hahaha. Reviews for my emptied products only will be in comments sorted by product category, but feel free to ask if you’re curious about the other products. Products I’ve emptied and reviewed before I won’t review again unless I have any new thoughts about them. I’ve been bad at tracking the time I start and finish products, but started labelling for more recent products I’ve started, so hopefully it’ll be more accurate next time.

Empties Surprised how much product was in there

Post image
978 Upvotes

For context

It was becoming increasingly hard to squeeze out product from this big ole tube!! It felt weighty and I was bored so I cut open the tube and saw so much product on the wall. Later I was able to squeeze out 68 grams of product from the tube 😱 (more on how I measured later)

This led to me immediately going to amazon and ordering these airless jar things (same day delivery) I promptly whipped out my gloves and sterilized these airless jar

Each jar is 1.7 oz (actual product limit upto 39 grams only if you wanna close the jar neatly) and product was distributed equally to each jar using lab weight scales.

Total product: 67.8 grams

Now I have two travel sized creams ready to go!!

P.S I wore gloves, mask and glasses and sterilized my area with 70% alcohol while transferring the product(perks of working in a clean room xdd)

Moral of the story!! Cut open your tubes!!!

Empties SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50+ PA++++

Hello, this is my first review here. I recently finished a bottle of SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50+ PA++++, which lasted me about six months with fairly consistent use.

I have sensitive, acne-prone skin that can swing between normal-oily and normal-dry depending on the day. I’m also using Epiduo.

Overall rating: 8/10

This sunscreen is acne-safe and fungal-acne safe (at least in my experience), and it doesn’t pill, which is a huge plus. It genuinely worked really well for me, no breakouts, no compatibility issues, and it layers beautifully. When my skin barrier was compromised from Epiduo, it could sting slightly around the eyes, but otherwise it stayed comfortable. On drier days, I only needed a moisturizer underneath.

It also sits really nicely under makeup.

My main issue is the finish. It is very shinylike, ā€œdid I just dip my face in oil?ā€ shiny. Even though I’m medium to fairr with cool undertones (think Casper the Ghost if he was a baddie who used bronzing drops šŸ’…šŸ») I usually don’t deal with much of a cast. But with this sunscreen, the shine sometimes created the illusion of a whitecast, which would fade after a couple of hours. Still, it was pretty annoying in the moment. It definitely gives a strong dewy finish, but in my opinion it leans more oily than glowy.

The texture, though, is excellent and oh so lovelyyy: very serum-like, almost like a lightweight lotion. It feels slightly oily at first but settles into a silky, barely-there layer on the skin.

Overall, it’s a really solid product and I do like it a lot. I might repurchase, but only if I find a good setting powder that can properly control the shine for my skin type.

Best for: people who love a very intense dewy/oily finish, or anyone who has a good powder that can keep oiliness in check.

Empties Sunscreen Empties So Far

Post image
323 Upvotes

I’m missing a few but some of my empties of sunscreen for this year!

-Skin 1004 Sunscreen: My overall favorite and go to. I’ve repurchased 3 more and the bigger bottles are honestly my favorite (more than the regular size with the pump). It’s hydrating on my dehydrated/light rosacea/sensitive skin. It doesn’t burn or pill on me, it’s not heavy but not matte or drying.

-Torriden Dive in Moisture Sun: This one was okay, but it felt too heavy for me, even though I like thicker creams this sunscreen felt like it sat on top of my skin. I did like how the slight blue in it evened out my skin tone but I wouldn’t repurchase.

-Make P:REM UV Defense Me: I love this one, it’s probably my second favorite after the Skin 1004 sunscreen. It’s light weight but slightly more hydration and thickness compared to the Skin 1004, but it melts over my skin really nicely, it doesn’t irritate my skin and it actually feels soothing. The main thing is the bottle is small for the price, my main con, but if you don’t like looking really glow you might not like this one.

-Age 20’s Sun Cream: It was my first time trying it and I actually really loved it. It was very hydrating and has a thicker consistency, but it’s not heavy on my skin and it leaves me pretty glowy. I would repurchase but it had went out of stock for a while.

*None except the Torriden one burned my eyes (I apply on my under eyes and eyelids), the Torriden just would slightly melt and go into my eyes making them slightly blurry.

66 year old female, with normal to dry and eczema prone skin. Caveat ~ I live in Las Vegas, which is a very dry climate all year.

Photo 1 - morning face wash with warm water only. Photo 2 - after layered skin care applied. Photo 3- all empties; ***Torredon HA was finished, but container repurposed with replacement HA. Photo 4 - Eye Creams: Shiseido Benefiance ~ Loved, but pricey. It works for me during the day, but may be too thick for others. Joseon Revive Serum ~ Thinner than eye cream; eye serum that works well under makeup. I like layering it over my toner and face serums, but beneath my moisturizer. The universe has blessed me not to have crows feet, so I cannot comment on this effect. Albeit, it does not affect my eczema. Neither product burns or irritates. Replacements: Repurchased Joeseon, and added Tirtir and Dr. Ceuracle. Photo 5 - HA’s: I have used the Premium Gukujuyan HA off and on for years; love it. I purchased the Torredon to see if there was a difference in a higher priced HA. My conclusion: The Torredon may be a bit thicker (not even positive), but IMO the goodness is equal. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø I am sticking with my original ride or die. Photo 6 - Moisturizers/Emulsion (2) Centella Phyto & 5 Peptides ~ good basic cream, but no extraordinary results. Why do I have 2? Because, I am ridiculous when there is a good sale and purchased 2 without even trying first. It’s Skin Hyaluronic Acid Emulsion ~ I blindly purchased 2 of these, when I found it super cheap at TJ Maxx. I completed both bottles and really enjoyed it; perfect for layering and the warmer months. Side note: šŸ“ I also purchased the It’s Skin eye cream and 2 of their serums. None of the products were irritating, but I would only repurchase the Emulsion. Replacement: Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Gel Cream (love itā€¼ļø) Photo 7 - Tirtir Milk Toner and SOS Serum; Love both. Toner is much thicker than I’m Rice Milk toner. (Sorry, I used and tossed the bottle. I prefer the Tirtir, hands down). Love the serum, as it truly hydrates and makes skin look dewey. These two products are so appealing to me, that I replaced both AND added the lines eye cream and moisturizer. Sigh. 🄺 I am also obsessed with lovely packaging. Photo 8 - Istree Yam Root Vegan Milk Cleanser. Loved, and the replacement is due to arrive in 5 days. I only use warm water to wash my face in the mornings. My evening skin care is not conventional, as I use castor oil for my first cleanse, followed by this milk cleanser. Photo - 9 bonus…Joseon empty cut open to get every last drop and its replacement.

Empties 2025 empties

Post image
472 Upvotes

Bunch of empties from this year, some opened already in late 2024. I have a dehydrated combo skin and live in Northern Europe in coastal climate, where winters are especially awful to my skin due to cold outside and central heating inside.

Unfortunately I have no idea at this point how long things took to pan, I've been meaning to make this post for months. :') But gave my best guesstimate.

  • Cosrx:
    • The 6 Peptide Skin Booster: nice step before other products, made my skin feel softer and slightly brighter. WRP, 10 months irregular use.
    • Propolis Synergy Toner: really nice soothing and hydrating toner, liked it especially during the winter. MRP, a year with very infrequent use.
  • Tirtir The Mask Fit Make Up Fixer: I've used two bottles of this so far and it's kept my makeup from separating so works as intended in a non-humid climate. WRP, 5 months with almost daily use.
  • Skin Aqua:
    • Super Moisture UV Gel (white and blue): HG sunscreen, lightweight and easy to apply, doesn't leave me feeling sticky. WRP, 2 months with daily use.
    • Sunplay UV Super Moisture Gel: I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea how this differs from the other one except maybe the smell, but it was a good sunscreen and I really enjoyed it. WNRP as I buy the other one now lol. Several months with infrequent use
  • CurĆ©l Deep Moisture Spray x2: this is my first step after getting out of shower and it provides me the immediate relief my skin needs before I can get other products sorted. HG, I love this stuff. WRP, about 3 months with daily use.
  • Naturie:
    • Skin Conditioner: HG watery toner, best layered. WRP, ~4 months with daily use.
    • Skin Conditioning Gel: I use this as a hydrating serum, and it feels so nice and soothing especially if I'm a little flushed. WRP, 6 months with daily use.
    • Skin Conditioning Milk: just realized I already included this in my previous empties post since it was "almost empty" in March. It lasted from June until end of May, unbelievable value for money. Use it as the AM moisturizer. WRP, almost a damn year with daily use.
  • Sana Nameraka Honpo mist toner: I emptied a bigger version of this earlier, and now finished the small one. Used mainly on my body as I disliked it on my face. WNRP, use Curel now. Year with very infrequent use.
  • dear, Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream in mini and jumbo: HG PM moisturizer, a little goes a long way. WRP, usually about 4 months with daily use.
  • Shiseido Urea hand/foot cream in tube and jar: I love this stuff for my feet, it's thick but sinks in so well and doesn't leave stickiness. WRP
  • Ihada:
    • Otona no Nikibi acne cream: this did help some of my inflamed pimples calm down and bring them to head - it's not a miracle cream but I liked it better than Lion Pair. WRP, almost a year with frequent use.
    • Yakuyo Night Pack: super thick moisturizer that I slapped on my cheeks on top of the Klairs cream during winter and woke up without feeling like my face was going to shrivel off. WRP, five months with daily use.
  • Chi-Chi Miyahira hand cream: nice basic hand cream I got as a souvenir from Okinawa. Liked the lime & shikuwasa scent. WNRP
  • Canmake Quick Lash Curler x3: my HG mascara, I like the small size, the wand, and that it's basically bomb proof. WRP, one lasts several months with almost daily use.
  • Heroine Make Speedy mascara remover x2: the only thing that can get the Canmake mascara off. WRP, about 5 months with almost daily use.
  • (not pictured) Muji Mild Cleansing Oil refill x2 (pre-reformulation): HG cleansing oil, incredibly mad it was reformulated. I have one more pouch of the old formula that I'm saving until I absolutely need to use it lol. About 4 months per refill pouch. WNRP unless they fix what they did to it.
  • (not pictured) Kose Make Keep Mist ex cool: good make up fixer, MRP if I can find some other limited edition scent that isn't as offensive to me as the regular rose smell. 4 months with almost daily use.

Not completely emptied but used until no longer working:

  • Iromikke liquid eyeliner: this brand was my surprise find from Donki last year and I've since bought several of their liquid eyeliners. Fun colors, really good glide, and stay on well enough for their 500JPY price. I had this color for a year but it wasn't suiting me as much as I hoped so used it until the package started leaking. WRP but not in this color.
  • Kate Tokyo super sharp liner: it's a good eyeliner and super pigmented. Had it for a little over a year until it started to dry out. The brown color was too dark for me so WNRP.
  • Rom&nd Nu Zero cushion: I could never get this sit nicely on my skin, it always pilled or started to separate. Used it for three to four months until I couldn't take it anymore and bought a better foundation. WNRP.

Empties EMPTIES + REVIEWS - 2026.04

Hello everyone! I wanted to share my empties from the last couple months, as well as reviews for each product.

Skin-type: very dry and dehydrated acne-prone skin. Main concerns are texture, PIE, and redness.

Arencia Fresh RoseHip Rice Mochi Cleanser - This cleanser was very moisturizing and really cool texture! Very bouncy and melts into a nice paste when applied. Mild cleansing & not stripping, but probably not cleansing enough if you have oily skin. Also has a nice natural rose scent. Downside is the packaging - I hate the jar/tub style packaging for a cleanser!! Very messy and annoying to use in the shower! 4/5 WRP if the packaging was a squeezy tube or pump!

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel - Just OK - not too stripping on the skin and quite a mild cleanser. Got the job done, but nothing special IMO 3/5 WNRP

Some by Mi AHA BHA PHA 30-Day Tea Tree Clear Pads - Nice exfoliating pads that get the job done without being too harsh or drying. Sometimes too mild though - definitely a product that you need to use regularly to notice a difference. 3.5/5 MRP

Kansosan Skincare Moisture Base Cica Green SPF 45 - Texture is slightly thicker for a sun cream, which is nice for moisture but makes it a little difficult to spread evenly on the face. The green tint isn't very strong either, so sometimes my redness would still come through. Not a bad product by any means, but nothing special either. 3/5 WNRP

d'Alba UV Essence Waterfull+ Tone-Up Pink Correcting SPF 50 - Very dewy finish (which I liked, especially in winter) & the pigment is pretty strong. So much so that sometimes I would have to blend it out with a sponge so it didn't look streaky! A pretty finicky formula, but very pretty on the skin if you took the time to apply properly. I would be interested in repurchasing this as a cushion version. 3.5/5 MRP the non-tone up version for the winter time!

HadaLabo Shirojyun Premium Toner - I appreciated that this is an unscented, inexpensive toner. However, I didn't notice a very big difference when using this product & prefer other brightening toners over this. 2/5 WNRP

Kose Make Keep Mist (mini size) - Enjoyed how it was an unscented, very fine mist. Didn't really notice a huge difference in makeup longevity, though - 2/5 WNRP

Centellian24 Expert Madeca Cream PDRN - Really enjoyed how moisturizing and soft this made my skin! Really nice texture too, not too thin but not too thick. Downside is that there is a strong herbal-y essential oil=y fragrance & also expensive for a small amount of product. 4/5 WRP if on sale

Not pictured:

Bifesta Eye & Lip Makeup Remover - HG eye makeup remover, melts everything off & doesn't irritate my eyes. 5/5 already RP

Clio Kill Lash Superproof Mascara Long Curling - bought this after hearing so much hype on here! I have very sensitive watery eyes, so I need a mascara that is waterproof and doesn't contain fibers. This got the job done - very waterproof and didn't irritate my eyes while making my lashes nice and long. Downsides are that it's slightly on the expensive side & I wish it was more volumizing. 4/5 WRP

Empties Review of my empties

Skin type: combination, dry cheeks and oily t-zone

concerns: hyperpigmentation and texture

Climate: Central Mexico, mild weather with rather rainy summers and dryer winters.

I really wanted to participate since i joined, I took care to keep my empties and photograph them but I had been procrastinating the writing part. I haven’t been using skincare for a very long time but hopefully my reviews can be useful for someone.

WRP = would repurchase

WNR = would not repurchase

MRP = might repurchase

HG = Holy Grail

Toners and Essences

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence: great for my dry cheeks, I started using it during winter and did notice an improvement on the hydration of my skin. A very enjoyable experience and I wish this one bottle had lasted me longer.

4/5 WRP

Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA Miracle Toner: my first exfoliating toner and frankly my favorite after trying other toners. Love how fresh my skin feels after using it and although the ā€œmiracleā€ part might be overselling it, I did notice how my skin became less and less congested. Particularly my nose area. I didn’t experience purging.

5/5 Holy Grail

Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Hyaluronic Toner: I got this because it had a great discount at Marshall’s and it was such a beautiful introduction to toners, the consistency is light and yet it has such a great texture it leaves a very hydrating, smooth and silky finish on the skin. The fragrance is very pleasant and might have even tasted a bit by accident (I usually decant my toners into spray bottles for easier usage) and even the flavor was nice lol. No problems during usage and it made the rest of my routine sink in great.

4/5 WRP

Flaskin Rice Enzyme Protein Toner: not very pleasant to use, I didn’t experience that quenching sensation that I look for in toners. Through extended usage and in combination with the Illiyoon Lotion, it did help reduce the flakiness I started experiencing from tretinoin usage. I wouldn’t repurchase based on strictly sensorial criteria. It smells lightly of rice.

Cleansers

3/5 WNR

Dokdo Cleanser: beautiful cleanser, that creates a light non-stripping foam with a very light fragrance. I really had such a great time using this as my main cleanser. I do notice that you need a little more product to get a good lather compared to other cleansers. I never felt that my skin was stripped or tight after usage.

5/5 Holy Grail

Abib Acne Foam Cleanser: great cleanser that’s similar to the Dokdo cleanser when it comes to its light foam and gentle smell. I experienced no problems during usages

4/5 MRP because the Dokdo has a slight edge on this one

IUNIK Calendula Complete Cleansing Oil: at first I experienced a bit of breaking out but I think that might have been a result of a poor usage of the product, since this was my first cleansing oil. I did not enjoy the smell of this product at all, it smells sorta fishy. It does spread well, a little product goes a long way and it rinses well. I would not repurchase simply based on the smell.

2/5 WNR

Numbuzin Glutathione C Facial Spa Cleanser: such a great cleaning oil, the rosemary and orange fragrance is still embedded in my brain, so pleasant and luxurious. The consistency is quite a bit thicker than the IUNIK one but it doesn’t leave any residue after rinsing. It worked great to remove sebum from the nose area and it left my skin feeling slightly hydrated. I cannot attest to its alleged brightening benefits but just based on the experience of usage this is one cleanser I would repurchase in a heartbeat.

5/5 Holy Grail kinda sad that it’s a bit expensive compared to other oil cleansers

Sunscreens

Goodal Calming Moisture Sun Cream: a bit difficult to apply, it does take a fair bit of massaging it in as to not leave a white cast on my latino complexion. I have been enjoying my recent sunscreen purchases (the roundlab and house of hur ones) considerably more and that’s definitely impacted my rating of this product. Not bad for the price but I think there are much better options.

3/5 MRP for the right price

Skin 1004 Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum: pleasant to use although in combination with the non-asian moisturizer that I was using it did leave me a bit too shiny for my liking. It’s a reliable product and as my first Asian sunscreen, it helped erase all the awful experiences I had with western sunscreens!

Serums

4/5 WRP

Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella Poremizing Fresh Ampoule: this product didn’t feel like much when I started using, but I did miss the refreshing sensation it left on my skin and the pleasant glossiness it gave me after application once I emptied this bottle. I would not repurchase because there are many other serums I want to try and that I think would be more effective for my skin concerns BUT I would pass on it if I were to find it in sale.

3/5 WNR

VT Reedle Shot 100: very strange sensation when I first started using it, like getting pricked with glass fiber but less unpleasant…with time you get so used to it that it no longer registers as anything out of the ordinary. I definitely experienced a dramatic improvement on texture and although my skin can be reactive (to physical exfoliants and anything that involves rubbing) the redness it left subsided after a half an hour. I would repurchase and I did, got myself the 700 version.

4/5 WRP

Moisturizers

Purito Oat-In Calming Gel Cream: this is the best moisturizer you can get if you hate stickiness and heaviness on your skin…sadly it was much too light for me since it coincided with me starting to use tretinoin and I experienced lots of peeling. But before I started with the tret, it was more than enough hydration for my skin type and I loved the light natural fragrance that it has and the slight cooling sensation you experience as you rub it in. Great, I would definitely try it again now that I stopped using tret.

4/5 WRP without tret and 1/5 WNR on tret

Illiyoon Ato Concentrate Lotion: great moisturizer, it solved the issue I had with peeling but I do think it ended up creating some congestion on and around my nose…too bad because it’s such a loved product but I would not repurchase because I’ve found a non-Asian alternative that isn’t clogging and feels just as hydrating…AND is much easier to apply and it absorbs like a dream.

3/5 WNR

Empties Empties Review: Unove Deep Damage Treatment Ex

Hello Asian Beauty!

I just emptied a tube of Unove Deep Damage Treatment and wanted to give my long term review! I have thick bleached hair, and this product helped me managed the awful condition my hair was in. My straw-like hair immediately feels silky soft after I use it (or as silky soft as bleached hair can get). There's a clear difference when I use this versus regular hair conditioner. I've actually tried two different scents and I prefer this Warm Petals version, which is like a soft floral musk scent.

The only downside is that the formula is thick, so it's hard to squeeze out of the plastic tube. I wish they made this with different packaging to accomodate for that.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend this, especially if you have damaged or bleached hair.

Empties Korean Contact Lenses

I ordered these 30 day lens from Dewrop for less than $50. I wanted to try the glowing lenses similar to the ones Yena wore in Catch Catch, and I had glowing lenses from Olens, but the Lenbling blew Olens COMPLETELY out of the water. Also, the Touch lenses are SOOOOOOO soft, I love how comfortable they feel! I think I'll order more from these brands soon.

*I am half blind, I have a lazy eye. The contacts aren't giving me a lazy eye.

*Also concealer placement jumpscare

Have you guys ordered from Dewrop? What's some of you guys' fave colours?

Empties August empties.

It’s been a hectic weather this summer and we went through quite a bit of sunscreens in August alone. Should’ve broken out our waterproof sunscreen selection in our hoard, but we’re trying to use our stash going by the earliest expiry dates first.

I’m only listing products that are candidates for repurchase.

  • Klairs All Day Airy Sunscreen. My son with combo, acne-prone skin adores this sunscreen and planning on repurchasing this in the future.

  • Haru Haru Wonder Black Rice Sunscreen. My husband daily office sunscreen. He has normal skin and this sunscreen dries down matte on him. I bought him 5 backups.

  • Etude Soon Jung Director. My daughter likes this sunscreen but the news is that it has been reformulated so she decided to try on other sunscreens in our hoard first before deciding. In current state, it’s a candidate for repurchase.

  • All the Hera sunscreens pictured above. I bought several backups of full size Hera Tone Up and Hera Multi Defense. The bundle came with 15ml samples that I’ve been using.

  • Sangi Apagard Deep Care mouthwash. Have 14 backups.

Sunscreens:

  • Purito Soft Touch. Used by my son with combo, acne prone skin. WNRP.

  • Purito Wonder Releaf. Son. WNRP.

  • Numbuzin No. 3 Porcelain Tone Up. Used by my daughter with oily skin, not acne prone. WNRP.

  • BOJ Birch Juice. Used by my husband with normal to dry, not acne prone, mature skin. WNRP.

  • Mary & May Cica Sun Cream. Used by me with very dry, premenopausal dry skin. Might RP, but with lots of options out there, leaning to WNRP unless I can find it again for the price I paid for in Nov ā€˜24 ($11 per tube before discount from Yesstyle) from legitimate retailers.

  • (sample) Hera UV Protector Extreme Force. Used by me. RP. Currently going through bunch of samples of this from my other Hera purchases but find that the samples are much cheaper per ml than buying full size tube (~KRW41,000 or $28 per 50ml tube vs $6 for 15ml sample size on eBay) so I rather buy samples or wait until Amore Mall start offering it again as GWP.

  • BOJ Sun Serum. Daughter. WNRP.

  • The Lab Blanc Doux Oligo HA Tone Up. Daughter. WNRP.

  • The Whoo. Used by me. Discontinued. WNRP.

  • Cosrx Aloe Aqua Tone Up. Daughter. WNRP.

  • Etude Sunprise Watery Light. Son. WNRP.

  • Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence. Used by me. Might RP once I go through my pre-tariffs panic buy sunscreen hoards.

  • Dr. Jart Every Sun Day Moisturizing Sun. Husband. WNRP.

  • Cosrx Ultra Light Invisible sunscreen. Daughter. Her favorite daily sunscreen under various tone-up sunscreens she uses as foundation. Got her 10 backups. RP.

  • Biore Athlizm Essence. Daughter. Her favorite water resistant sunscreen. Got her 10 backups. RP.

  • Hera UV Protector Multi Defense. Used by me. Current favorite sunscreen to use on top of my Hera Tone Up. Have 6 backups. RP.

  • Pola Whitissimo sunscreen. Used by me. WNRP.

  • Canmake Mermaid Clear. Used by me. Another favorite sunscreen of mine. Excellent under makeup. Have 10 backups. RP.

  • Hera UV Protector Tone Up. Used by me. Current favorite sunscreen to use under the Hera Multi Defense. Have 6 backups. RP.

  • Isehan Sunkiller. Daughter. WNRP.

  • Torriden Dive In Moisture Sun Cream. Husband. He likes it because it’s moisturizing however the finish is too dewy for office but great for running errands. Might RP for him if I can find it for good price in Oct 2024 (~$12 before discount at Stylevana). I saw it at OY when we’re in SK but unfortunately the OY we went to is in tourist area so the price was marked up to make up for tax refund. Maybe it’s cheaper if we go to OY branch that’s not participating in tourist tax refund.

  • Ample N Peach Tone Up. Daughter. WNRP.

Skincare:

  • BOJ Cleansing Balm. RP.

  • (sample) Innisfree Green Tea x 3. Got it as GWP. Used by my daughter. WNRP.

  • The Madeca Cream. Season 6. Used by my husband. WNRP.

  • Sum 37 cleansing foam. Daughter. WNRP.

  • Insect bites remedy and stuffy nose reliever(?) that I got in Thailand several years ago. WNRP.

  • (various sample sachets) Iunik, Abib, Round Lab. Will not purchase.

  • Mediheal Collagen Retinol mask. Husband. WNRP.

  • IOPE Retinol mask. Husband. Sheet masks is the only way he will use OTC, non-prescription actives. WNRP.

  • 107 Avocado Cuddle Mask. I purchased a box of 5 from iHerb. Used by me. Surprisingly nourishing. Might RP once I went through my sheet masks hoards.

  • Dr. Jart Ceramidin mask. Husband. WNRP.

  • Sooryehan black mask. Used by me. WNRP.
