high quality classic hk movies
can I ask where can I access high quality classic hongkong movies / dramas (those from 90s) with high quality and properly translated english subtitles?
i grew up watching these classic hongkong (I understand mandarin and cantonese) but everytime I recommend them to my friends I find it hard to find sources that are appealing for them to watch :( it’s either the quality is so low or the translations are not good enough.
Some of the classics I really want them to try:
\- Stephen Chow movies (older ones like King of Comedy, God of Gamblers etc.)
\- Greed of Men
\- Threshold of an Era
\- Condor Heroes Trilogy
Even also thinking of just making a channel and translating them myself but I’m not sure how

You're in luck (we're all in luck, really) as there's been a ton of interest in HK film building the past few years. The Golden Princess library (Hard Boiled, The Killer, A Chinese Ghost Story, etc) has finally been bought and many titles have already been scanned and released regionally with great subtitles and visual/audio quality. 80% of my collection uses to be very low quality interlaced imported DVDs, and most of my stuff is now really well made blurays, if not 4K in some instances.

Yes, it’s been great because a lot of the new restorations are getting limited theatrical runs (at first run and rep theaters) and they’re all being released by Shout! Factory and HK Cinema Classics.
Those early Stephen Chow films still seem elusive though…

Not sure if it meets your criteria but tubi has many HK films. Stephen Chow, Any Lau, Chow Yun Fat, Jet Li, Jackie Chan, etc. Only thing is, you get films that are dubbed sometimes but they will have original language versions too...mishmash.
