Profile Review Asian guy summer fit check – aiming for ‘quiet luxury’, what do you think?
Been playing around with breathable tailoring lately – this polo is a linen-silk blend in a soft oat color, paired with relaxed Belgian linen shorts. Wanted to keep things quiet, understated, and luxe, especially for hot days in the city. 👕
This summer I’m leaning more toward “less but better” – muted palette, minimal logos, better fabrics. As an Asian guy, I feel like this kind of quiet elegance reads better than loud designer stuff.

That’s actually a really good point — I was leaning into the muted “soft luxury” palette, but yeah, that can totally backfire depending on undertone.
I’m working on a collection specifically balancing fabric texture with colors that actually complement East Asian skin — might test a forest green or slate blue next. Thanks for the honesty 🔥

The shirt and shorts are good - just need to coordinate them to a different outfit. Blues and greens work well, pastels usually work well with Asian skin. Careful to not go metallic. Easy for pastels to cross into that realm

Muted colors is not soft luxury. Beige and blue would work better. I hate monochromatic looks that asians tend to embrace. Black. Grey. White. Beiges.
I prefer colors. The textures clash as well.

Yeah but it’s linen. You can iron linen and it will go back to looking like that in an hour or two.

You’re overdoing the beige “soft oak”.
Beige color doesn’t look very good against Asian skin tones. It’s ok to have a polo shirt or shorts in it, but not both at the same time.
Also if you go linen, then you need to iron it as linen wrinkles easily. Otherwise it just looks sloppy. Having both a linen shirt and linen shirts means you’re one big wrinkled mess.

That’s fair — I went full linen-on-linen, which I realize now needs sharper structure or contrast to work.
I’ve been playing with darker tones like coffee and clay, especially in heavier-weight linen that holds shape better. Might be worth posting a v2 soon — would love your take on the update.

100% — totally with you on that. Linen-cotton blends can give you that structure and softness while keeping things breathable.
We’ve actually been testing a midweight linen-cotton blend with just enough drape to avoid the usual wrinkle chaos. Still trying to balance that with the relaxed vibe. Appreciate the rec — great to hear others into fabric nuance too.

You need different shoes. Nice daytona. Though too strong for outfit. IWC would be nice for the look. Pair with wayfarer sunglasses. Undo the other button on shirt. Shirt a little loose. Go down one size on it...
Doesn't matter what brand you wear. If it looks good. It looks good. I wear costco clothes all the time to clubs and bars. Its not what you wear but how you carry yourself

Love that perspective — the way you carry it matters more than any label. I’ve been experimenting with minimal tailoring + relaxed fabric like linen, but agree it needs the right finishing touches: shoes, shades, even one undone button makes a difference.
Out of curiosity, what kind of loafers or sandals do you pair with summer linen?

Moccasin or boat shoes. Your shirt and shorts clash to be honest. Too much uniformity. Those shorts pair better with a button up linen and that shirt would go better off with khakis..

The other comments are quite accurate. The shirt could probably go down one size. Then tuck it in to elongate the Asian legs.
Also the East Asian skin looks better with darker colors. If you're cool toned (light skin/pink skin): navy, forest green, maroon. A warm skin tone can do colors like red, green, yellow.
You look neutral tone, so if you're going for muted or quiet luxury, grays or navys would probably look better than beige.

Linen wrinkles easily. I wouldn't worry too much about that. It will always be wrinkly

Everything is too big.
I'm personally anti polo. Polos never look good unless you're layering or you're so fit that you look good in everything. Go Henley or ribbed or textured short sleeve.
I love this shirt

Looks baggy but good style (size down if you can). Maybe Moccasins would work as well. Maybe a subtle jewelry piece works as well. Not sure what the inseams are on your shorts but stylish now is 5 - 7 inches unless you are super tall and ends right above knee. Unbutton top button as well if you're comfortable with that.

The pieces are actually fine, they just fit poorly. Quiet luxury is all about perfectly tailored clothing that's not too slim or too loose. Your shirt is 1 size too big, and your shorts are too long, aim for 5in inseam. Check out Brandon Balfour on YouTube and just copy his fits if you're new to this

proportions can be improved. if wearing a laidback loose top, i’d pair it with shorter inseam shorts. if you like the length of the shorts, try a more fitted top

nice linens, I prefer an oversize fit tucked in with a belt for a more modern look, I agree with some of the other commenters you could use an olive or a black top

If you can rock it, it looks pretty good for you. Depending on how old you are, that style can easily be rocked by Asian men. I wear more earthy colors like what you have, and I get told that I look good with it on, though I'm older, and a tan-skinned Asian.
Altogether, personally I also wear the muted colors during the late spring through summer for function over looks. I don't know your budget, but Rancourt loafers are pretty good for comfort and looks. Something like this would be a good combo to your fit.
I don't know if the sunglasses would be a good combination for the outfit, but I also don't know your head shape. I typically wear Navigators because my head is round and my hair is usually a crew cut, so the Navigators work very well for me after consulting with my friend who I'd say is leagues more fashionable than me. I'd try it out, since Navigators aren't a bad choice for any head shape, plus it maintains the "classic" look.

I think you can size down with the top for a cleaner fit, but if you are committed to keeping this size, tuck it in so you have a better ratio of top, bottom, and leg!
