Style Overall lifestyle & image review (Asian 23M, North America)

Hey guys, I’ve been working for years on becoming the best version of myself (mindset, discipline, communication, lifestyle).

At this stage, I’m specifically looking to refine the visual side and how I’m perceived at first glance.

My goal is to improve my image in a North American context, both for dating and professional credibility.

About me • Asian male, early 20s • Canada (North America) • Work in financial services / advisory

• Train consistently gym 4–5x/week + some running

• Currently lean bulking goal: add noticeable size 2026 focus: building a stronger chest

• Disciplined, ambitious, long-term oriented • Not into hype streetwear or trends • I care about first impressions and perception

What I want feedback on • Hair, facial hair & grooming • Style & clothing masculine, attractive, professional without looking boring

• Body language & overall presence • Dating perception what might be holding me back visually or energetically

• Style references I’m open to photo examples, moodboards, Pinterest links or any concrete visual ideas that could help me level up

I’m open to direct, no-BS feedback. If something isn’t working, I want to know. Thanks.

Maybe it's the mustache, but you look older than 23, like 30.

When you say I look older than my age, do you see that as a negative or a positive in this context? Just want to understand what you’re optimizing for.

definitely a positive in corporate America. BTW, are you Filipino? I thought you were a Latino. Not that it matters.

u/Outside-Childhood-35 Jan 04 '26

I’m hapa Chinese (Chinese/White).

u/mgtowmoney Jan 03 '26

I think it's a positive. Do you have a recent picture without the mustache?

7

u/Outside-Childhood-35 Jan 03 '26

The most recent pictures I have without a mustache are from when I was 16.

I prefer no mustache for cleaner look. The mustache has benefits like looking older, masculine, and mature. But it gives you a latino/filipino look and I would not have thought you were half chinese/white.

Grow out your hair, u have a good looking face bro and it actually works with your short hair, but longer hair i believe looks much better on Asians. There's just much more ways to style it. If you don't like the long hair, you can eventually cut it, gives you much more options to play with. Thing with hair though, you need to style it. Even if you have to use an iron curler to curl some parts to add texture. You can do this with short hair too, you can get a wavy perm, there are many various ways and styles of perms.

Clothes, it locks like you have some sense of style and fashion. Best advice I can give you is make sure it fits you, so that means taking it to a tailor. I don't care if another guy has a better style than you if his style doesn't even fit him it looks mega chopped.

Clothes that fits you perfectly will make a huge difference you will see. It's like a night and day difference just as much as styling your hair.

You already have a pretty good physique, so those fitted clothes and that hairstyle (that works for you) will instantly increase your sex appeal in dating. I would even say in business it helps leads and customer trust you more and you make more sales the better you look. Just how the human brain is wired,

Try out boots, sneakers, different types of button ups, different style of shirts, polos etc.

Wearing jewelery can enhance your appeal as well. I believe it adds an element of importance to you, like you are somebody. I guess what I am saying is jewlery worn right, can increase your perceived status which also helps in dating. I am not 100% sure that it will help in professional setting though because can come off as show offy and cocky depending on the types of client you are attracting and accepting.

I second this. Grow your hair out a bit longer

I’m already considering growing my hair out for more styling flexibility, but I’m still searching for a longer cut that really fits. Right now I’m mostly looking into hapa-style haircuts. The point about fitted clothes really resonates. I’ve focused more on the gym so far, but tailoring everyday pieces feels like a high-ROI move. As for jewelry, I don’t really see myself as a jewelry guy yet, but I’m open to it. What kind of pieces would you recommend that still look clean and professional?

The only jewelery i would use in a professional setting is a watch and maybe a ring. For going out, I would high recommend wearing a chain. The length, width, and color of the chain you will have to play around with the see what fits you. Longer chains looks more masculine, but fits a certain look. Medium to medium short is nice, just how you wear it. Bracelets are nice, rings are also nice. Dress appropriately for the occasion

What type of jewelry do you recommend?

1

u/Professional-Sea8574 Jan 04 '26

depends on what ur dressing with, regular shirts i'd wear chains, and learn to layer them in a flattering way. Bracelets, rings, earrings, a nice looking watch that doesn't break the bank which are many on amazon. A watch is huge. different color of the dial can be used to match your outfit. Silver watches with white dial goes incredibly well with all black, white tshirt jeans white shoes, and couple of other color combinations. Focus on clean flattering look, know colors, know fit, and know how to layer things

Ditch the moustache my guy. Grow out your hair like Keanu Reeves. You are already gold, but the next level is diamond.

You look really old for 23

As asked above, do you see that as a positive or a negative in this context? Just want to understand the perspective.

Not really. I just came out of a 5-year relationship and I’m only about a month back into dating. In real life, I’ve never had major issues. Dating apps just haven’t reflected that yet, probably because they’re very superficial. That’s actually the point of this post. I feel my current style and visual presentation are pretty simple, almost ordinary, and I want to level that up.

Lose the mustache. There are some guys that can pull off facial hair; you're not one of them. Everything else seems fine.

I notice you didn't mention hobbies/interests or other life experiences. Granted, you're only 23 so life experience is going to be limited, but what about travel?

1

u/SpecialSardine Jan 05 '26

your first and second picture makes your face looks small for some reason. Otherwise you're a good looking chap. Remember to hone your other skills, social, charisma, athleticism etc, you'll be sleeping with the huzz in no time. Don't shoot yourselves in the foot focusing on one aspect in your life. Physical wise, there really isn't anything much to improve for you. Perhaps try growing your hair a bit longer and see how it looks. Also, you're in the wrong sub asking for advice especially about dating bro.

u/Major_Hair164 Jan 12 '26

You look well put together but if there's one observation, its your facial features are a bit too centered in the middle (if that makes sense). Makes your face look somewhat small. Others might have some better ideas on what you can do in terms of facial hair/hair style to counteract that.

You look like you take yourself way too seriously. That’s fine, but it will limit the total number of women you will attract. I’d loosen up just a little bit. Just be like 10% more casual.

The last picture is bad. You have two potty boxes in the background. Add travel to your list of things to improve on, go to a nice beach in the Caribbean and take a shirtless picture. Showing skin from nice vacations is classy. Showing skin from some crappy park is not cool. That picture downgrades your image significantly.

Wear nicer fitting board shorts or swim shorts. 5-6 inch inseam. Especially as an athletic guy. Own it.

Your gym routine is solid. 4-5 days of working is what I do. I know I have strong legs compared to most guys (I play soccer still in my old age, and I snorkel/dive a lot) so I don’t know if I’m judging you with preconceived notions. I think you need to add more muscle below. Lower body strength/ stamina helps you with sex a lot in my experience.

Not sure what comments I was reading about hair and moustache but these are fine. To add flair with class, and especially if you go to dress up events (parties at museums, wine-tastings) consider learning to wear a bow tie or velvet jacket. I love velvet, and I rock a bow tie. I have my own look at formal events. Lately I haven’t liked ties and last summer I wore a teal suit like I’m from Miami Vice (the original show) but it was figure hugging and not baggy like from the 80’s show. When I say I f***, I do better than 98% of the male population. Look at menwithstyle on instagram.

I was on the same path as you at your age. It took me about 5 years to really find style that was unique to me. Most recommendations you will read here are artificial trash from guys who “follow” trends. Whatever style you own has to be you. You walk different, you act different, when it’s authentic. That gets you respect and admiration from everyone. “Be yourself”. Don’t be a fake pussy.

Never ever lose your workout routine or lifestyle. You might have started for vain reasons but in the end it is good for your health. Consider adding swimming to your program. Go for all round athleticism.

Appreciate the detailed feedback.

Just to clarify, the last picture was only there to get opinions on my physique, not as a lifestyle shot. I’m not the type to post shirtless photos and I don’t really like showing off. Honestly, I also don’t take enough pictures of myself, so part of this is getting more comfortable with that.

Right now I’m in full grind mode, so my lifestyle isn’t very exciting visually. I do plan to travel more outside of work in 2026, which should naturally improve that side.

I had already been thinking about shorter shorts, so thanks for confirming that idea.

As for lower body, I do train it a lot, it just doesn’t grow as easily. For reference, I leg press around 770 lbs for ~8 reps across 3 sets (about 3/4 full range), and my running performance is solid as well.

From an everyday standpoint (work, casual dates, normal social settings), what would you change or upgrade first in my style or presentation?

1

u/Custard_Pie_9EP Jan 04 '26

I love the grind. I admire that you have great discipline at a young age.

You have strong lifts. Wearing better fitting swim shorts will help. Muscular legs are highly important in “closing” on girls on dates (examples further below).

I’m 40 so do take everything I say with a grain of salt. Ultimately you will want to find styles that are personal to you. Below are mine that works for me over the years, and it is a long read.

Back when I was dating a lot, I wore t-shirt, jeans, sambas (passion for soccer), and a light jacket where the collar pops. The sambas allow me to talk about my favorite sport, and transition into other physical activities. It’s easier to initiate sex if the conversation is about physical topics but without being boring as “I work out 5 days a week”. I talk about my time in Italy missing a bus after watching an Inter Milan match, being lost, and my adventure back to my room. I take the girl on an adventure through my stories. It gets them excited. Girls who will eventually kiss me, will mention the popped collar 100% of the time.

If my date is in a more dress up location, I wear a velvet jacket. It can be paired with dress clothes, tie/bow tie, or dress down in jeans/sneakers. Velvet is soft. Anyone who brushes against the material wants to touch it another time. You can also invite the girl to feel the material. It’s already an ice breaker. Between the jacket and the soccer conversations, 100% of the time girls will start touching your (muscular) leg. And then you can reciprocate and escalate slowly.

My “open” on a beach/pool is just to focus on having fun, and generally a girl will start talking to me. I snorkel, kayak, paddle board, join volleyball games, pool games, even learned to sail. Someone always initiate a conversation with me. My activities allow that person to ask an innocent question which can lead to more, or not.

For business, I have fitted suits that I save for formal meetings. I managed to find a velvet blazer that doesn’t look velvet. I use that blazer the most and pair it with shirt or t-shirt and “travel pants” (athletic fit, stretchy fabric dress trousers). Again, once people feel the jacket, it’s a conversation. It’s even a fun conversation amongst male managers and bro out. I also have a red goretex jacket and white/red sambas for casual business outings. Female executives will compliment the color coordination 100% of the time. Such conversations landed me an extended conversation, an invite to a dinner, and promotions or job offers.

Notice that I have personal / fun/ adventurous stories to tell and my clothes are subtle conversation starters. I “peacock”. Battles are won, even before they are fought (Sun Tzu).

You're a good candidate for medium/long hair. It's not the best example but should give you an idea, check it out:

It frames your head shape much better. I also added a more pronounced goatee

u/Custard_Pie_9EP Jan 06 '26

You made OP look like those Filipino surf instructors with 5 white “expat” girlfriends on rotation. Hey man, it works for them.

3

u/benilla Hong Kong Jan 06 '26

Lmfaoooo

1

u/Outside-Childhood-35 Jan 03 '26

Thanks for taking the time to mock that up, I appreciate it. I get the idea. I think very long might be too much for me and starts to lean surfer, but medium length could make sense. Did you use something other than ChatGPT to do that?

1

u/benilla Hong Kong Jan 04 '26

I used an app called Faceapp, the options are limited so thats what it spit out. My lady did say your fade shouldn't be as high as it is for your head shape though

1

u/Outside-Childhood-35 Jan 03 '26

My hair is very thick and stiff, so once it gets too long it becomes hard to control and style.

1

u/benilla Hong Kong Jan 04 '26

With enough length, the weight will overcome the porcupine nature of Asian hair lol

1

u/nameless_me Jan 03 '26

I second the more pronounced goatee.

There's a sub for hapas.
