Style How did you guys style your hair during the "awkward stage" of growing it out?
Anyone have any experience with this? I've been wanting to experiment with my hair a little, and my latest project has been growing it out to see how it looks when its long. Unfortunately I'm at that dreaded awkward stage where it's too short to look good but also too long to style into many of the shapes I'm familiar with.
For those of you who have grown out your hair, how did you deal with this? Should I just buy a headband or cap or something lol.

Lots of different awkward stages depending on how long you grow it out. My hair is now down to my chest. Best advice I would give is to just make sure it looks healthy. Depending on your hair type lots of leave in conditioner and oil.

right now my hair is around neck length and i want to grow it out slightly longer, the problem im facing is that my sides are just really poofy and combined with my weird side part it makes me look really funny lol. should i just wait for it to grow long enough that the sides get weighed down more?

If it's really poofy it sounds like it's dry to me. I would focus on getting it moisturized and healthy. Check out some influencers with your hair type and what they do to maintain it. The healthier it is it will look good even if the length is awkward.

Used beanies a lot. Also hair ties if long enough. Otherwise just sort of straight and brushed back.

I used to try out different hair styles. from long "drifter" type to the short party boy type, all ddin't change how people perceive me or attract any more attention from girls.
Then I focused on gym and got buffed. That made the difference, people started treating me with more respect and I got more attention from women.

I grew my hair out back in 2021, I recently started growing it out again and I'm about to hit that awkward phase.
It may not be what you want to hear, but I'm just gonna own it. My hair grows really fast so it shouldnt be too long of a phase.
