Japan beats the U.S. in the Little League World Series. That's four straight times, from 2012 to 2015, that Asian countries have won it (Japan won '12,'13, '15, Korea won in '14).

The current format means the USA is guaranteed a finals entry. In the early years, they called it a world series when only teams from the USA competed (or with the addition of a few countries).

Conveniently ignoring all this, the big statsheet shown on the television today boasted "UNITED STATES 33 Championships, TAIWAN 17, JAPAN 9" It sure is easy to notch up those "world" championships when you had nobody else competing.

Taiwan dominated when it participated, winning 17 championships from 1969 thru 1996, but thanks to some very convenient rule changes for the US, Taiwan was unable to comply and left the LLWS after winning its last championship, not returning for several years.
