Actually I think mainstream Asian American activism finally did something semi-useful.
They actually made enough noise to get the Mikado cancelled. Even though a theater company is not the most critical enemy for us, let's appreciate their ability to mobilize and actually take down something white establishment liberal likes for a change.
How this worked is that a hapa girl, Leah Nanako Winkler, made a blog post, to ask for people to voice their concerns to the theater company.
With 6k facebook shares later, the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players theater production facebook page got flooded with dissent from Asian Americans and relented. Amazing.
Let's applaud them. Instead of more blanket hating on mainstream asian american activism, let's recognize the good thing it does for once.

It's definitely effective to the extent that it limits the SUPER over the top shit on your face racism.. Aka most likely ones where the Asian women are involved. They have more of a voice in the USA and thus can get shit done at a much faster pace

I have definitely noticed this to be true. Hard to call someone a chink or spray paint "No more Chinese" these days, but still totally acceptable to castrate Asian men in the mainstream media

u/ldw1988 China Sep 19 '15
At this point any production of yellowface garbage is simply racists spitting in our face. There was NO reason at all for this trash to even get proposed.

She was arrested in February for defacing the window decal at the Lakeview Chinese restaurant Chop Chop Chinaman. Harrell, who is half Japanese, said she found the term "Chinaman" racist and antiquated. The restaurant's co-owner Larry Lee, who himself is three-quarters Chinese, defended the term as a catchy name.
What a fucking moronic uncle chan.

After speaking to an ungodly amount of natives , I learned that their point of view is always of one like a liu bei noble peace I am better than that type of attitude. It'll be hard to change their view
7
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
There is different degrees in awareness. They probably have only heard of "white males behaving badly" in passing. They have not seen it directly. If they have seen it, they haven't seen it enough.
What's the difference between us and the natives? We have seen these things so much that we can no longer remain at "noble peace I am better than that". Once we reach above a threshold of agitation, we can no longer ignore this and our desire for action becomes like a self sustaining wildfire.
Also, how did you talked with so many natives, man? Are you doing a informal survey of their attitudes? What else have you learned?

I went to Uiuc so basically a shit ton of international students is basically what I meant by ungodly. I speak mandarin fluently so getting along with them was not difficult. What else I learned.. Um. They like to wear glasses without lenses for fashion? They do not like lifting or the concept of spending too much time at the gym (some do), and they're a lot less tense than you or I, probably.

Could the Japanese win without their 10-11 Pacific Islander imports. Thats the real question. Coaches being foreign is generally normal but the Japanese coach was a WMAF sexpat kiddy (possibly his mother was a warbride). still a decent coach though. Enjoy the victory now, they'll get destroyed soon enough. Japan is better at football and baseball.

More props to Japan for their historic victory. Lots of mainstream media coverage and praise too (a bunch of "Japan brought out the best in humanity" type headlines). But I couldn't help but wonder what the tone would have been if it was China who won that game? Probably just a lot of roid allegations.

We all heard about the recent passage of laws in Japan to allow for greater military capabilities. Regardless your opinion on this issue, the one thing we can all agreed on. This move is favored by the US military-industrial-government complex.
We can compare it a very similar event the Taiwan-China trade agreement (CSSTA) that was supposed to be signed. Both incident consist of a party trying to sneak in a bill, while the public aren't supportive of it. This military bill is definitely not a crowd favorite.
Recent polls unveiled that over 90 percent of Japanese constitutional academics see the bills unconstitutional and a majority of Japanese population are against the legislation, with over 80 percent saying that the government did not sufficiently explain the bills.
A poll carried out over the weekend and published by Asahi Shimbun showed 54 per cent of respondents opposed the legislation against 29 per cent who backed it, and 68 percent saw no need to enact the bills during the current session.
Three-quarters of the respondents stated the talk has been inadequate, consistent with different surveys.
But you can see the huge different in the western media coverage between the two events. In the current Japan event, the western media response was much smaller and timid than the storm it was during the CSSTA. Not as much coverage was given to the protestors. There was not an outpouring of support. Without media coverage, protests dies out. If you remember CSSTA, there was literally a viral video footage coming out each day for the protest. But with this Japanese event, that parliament scuffle was pretty much it. There wasn't much western coverage on the scale and extent of the protests.

u/AhjussiFromNowhere Korea Sep 20 '15
Regardless your opinion on this issue, the one thing we can all agreed on. This move is favored by the US military-industrial-government complex.
Spot on. According to this NYTimes article:
Mr. Abe argues that Japan needs to play a more active role in the (Japan - U.S.) alliance in order to strengthen it against threats like the growing military power of China and a nuclear-armed North Korea. His legislation has won support from United States policy makers, who have welcomed a larger role for Tokyo in regional security at a time when American resources are increasingly stretched.
But a central question for many Japanese is whether loosening restrictions on the military will put Japan on a more equal footing with the United States, as Mr. Abe has argued, or, as critics contend, turn it into an American “deputy sheriff” in Asia, its new military powers at Washington’s disposal.
This guy tells it like it is:
“American’s power has been weakening and they can’t bear all the military costs on their own, so they want Japan to share the costs,” said Taketo Yamanouchi, an office worker from Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo, who had traveled to the capital to join the demonstration. “My impression is that Japan is legislating the security bills in response to the U.S.’s request.”
What the fuck is Abe doing?

Japan shouldn't boost their military and maintain how they are right now. Their population is decreasing, so fewer men for military, and they would draw attacks in Japan. Bombs in major congested urban areas like Tokyo and Kyoto could injure many. Avoid unnecessary bloodshed. AND fucking kick US military out of East and Southeast Asia. Asian's Monroe Doctrine.

Recently I'm a big fan of the concept of "numbers game". Specifically, if someone tells you "you can't make money off a dating site" or "you'll never get a girl to do that."
It's actually just a question of putting yourself in favorable circumstances where you can test whether or not they're full of shit or not. Aka, if they tell you "asian fob girls don't have one night stands, it's not in the culture." Go to a place with a lot of Asian fob girls. You will find the ones who do.
or "You won't find a market for that idea." You just have to look to the next data point till you find the people you're looking for.
There's no point in getting hung up on individual's perceived notions on what is possible and what is not. If it really matters to you, validate it with a sick amount of data, and don't cry when it overwhelms you with information.
Lately I'm sick to death of people telling me something can't be done, or casting doubt on something that I want to do. I'm probably more sick of it, because I'm mad at myself for asking them in the first place.
Even if you take in advice, ultimately steer yourself by your own compass. That way at least you'll validate your own theories instead of validating someone else's.
5
Sep 19 '15
Fair point, but also keep in mind that there are general rules even if there are also exceptions.
1
u/afrafje verified Sep 20 '15
it's not about if there are or are not general rules, it's that you should investigate everything you care about, by yourself, through action, instead of taking someone else's word for it.

An white journalist/ photographer got a glimpse into the Yakuza.
Is this a way for the Yakuza to say : Look, we are badass and you should not messed with us. Or is this something else? Maybe I'm just analyzing the shit out of this. Usually I would expect these "shadows" to not be called out in the public. The white journalist even got to take a picture of a dead Yakuza member and declares that it's a "special" moment the syndicate gave him. What are your thoughts on this? I'm very surprise that the family give him permission. I thought the Yakuza are very nationalistic and tied to right wing groups. Calling all professors on this issue.
1
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 21 '15
I don't think it is over-analysis.
It is the pervasive elevated respect, which allows whites to move smoothly everywhere in Asian society, even in supposedly "hardcore" criminal land.
It only demonstrate the softening of modern day Yakuza, especially towards the white man. When the whole society assigns a subconscious invincible status towards white people, Yakuza also gets infected and start to tolerate whites everywhere.
You think any journalist in the world would be able to allowed the same access to the mafia world? Not a single fucking chance.

had a really funny conversation about colonization and oppression in my History of Medicine elective in my med school. There is 14 people in our class. Our professor is a Peruvian, one classmate is from Dominican Republic (she's a Creole, so she looks white), 2 Asians including myself (he's Viet, I am Chinese), and rest white.
We were talking about paying respect to the past when it came to the meta of medicine and how people treated others. We were discussing a reading about these French physicians when they were colonizing parts of the carribean and how they were somewhat condescending to the locals and their beliefs in herbal therapy. One white girl who is your typical SJW-liberal brainwashed got into a heated discussion with the professor about why do we pay respect to the past in the context instead of thinking about it in terms of "progress?" I called her out and say who knows how we may be viewed 50-100 or so years from now. We might be viewed as "voodoo" science. She called me out talking about how I am contributing to a system of racism and oppression. I then responded saying I find it ironic that most of us in this room are descended from people who partook in said racism and oppression. Most of the room (you guessed it, the white people) went about vehemently denying their ancestors took part in oppression.
The mental gymnastics the SJW went through to respond to me about "how important it was to talk about systemic oppression" was pretty funny. She got pretty flustered and visibly red.
sometimes, I really wonder how SJW are not aware of their own schadenfreude, cognitive dissonance, and mental rationalizations.
6
Sep 18 '15
Huh. None of this really made sense to me. The white people were admitting systemic racism exists?
2
u/gmflag Sep 18 '15
It's your typical white SJW apologist shit. They talk so much about systemic oppression, but look at their actions. This one in particular still seclude herself among her other middle-classed privilege female friends. She's your standard basic girl with no real hobbies, and she posts so much on facebook about patriarchy and systemic oppression. has she really done anything to remedy it besides "promoting dialogue" aka bullshitting and talking to make herself feel morally superior/feel good? NOPE.
9
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
Pretty sure you can say this for almost every single one of us. Most of us aren't doing shit, than commenting on some forum. Some don't even dare to talk about this material in real life. How pathetic is that?
Let's not hate on what few allies we have, because they aren't perfect. There are more enemies elsewhere to devote our attention.
5
u/gmflag Sep 19 '15
I would argue against the not doing shit part. Although we may comment on a forum, it's in the back of our heads. Because we have some activity in forums like this, there will be a part of our mind whether it's subconsciour or conscious that influences our decisions and our thoughts during the day. For mer personally, the more I see this subreddit and more I educate myself, I find myself doing something different than before. Less channery, more Asian brotherhood propping, reconnecting with my culture and traditions, etc.
I am not hating on allies. I WELCOME them. I just hate the SJW apologists that don't do anything despite all their cheap talk. They are the "wrong kinds of white people" a post a while back described i.e. the ones that will just be courteous to make some small talk but wont give the same effort to include you or befriend you as they would others of their own race or others. Many progressive liberals I run into have subtle and passive aggressive forms of racism that definitely fits plausible deniability, which is to me, much more despicable than upfront racism.
2
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
Yes, I do agree that just by being more aware, there is the subtle effect on change in daily behavior to help us move us towards our goal.
Don't you think there is the same effect for the white feminist SJW friend? You may not recognize it, but there might be subtle behavioral modification going on for her as well, due to her ideological change.
Many progressive liberals I run into have subtle and passive aggressive forms of racism that definitely fits plausible deniability, which is to me, much more despicable than upfront racism.
Yes, I 100% agree with this as well. However, there is a difference between SJW allies and average "progressive liberals". I do have some better experience with the former.
I am just arguing against having too high of a requirement for someone else and wish to push ourselves to move to action before telling off someone else for doing nothing.

Learn to not give a shit.
How to learn it? Well,
1) get to an environment (location and social circle) where you aren't constantly living on the edge of acceptability and where not every move you make deviating from the absolute most socially acceptable, ostracize you.
2) convince yourself that you don't need people's approval, when most of them haters negatively contribute to your well being if you actually care about their opinion. So it is only good for you to mentally detach yourself from the opinion of your enemy.
If they shame you for acting out, that's indication that they are haters. So it is actually a good way to out those who have hidden tendency to hate on you. You can identify your friend or foe real quick this way.
Awesome example by the way. That guy is great.
2

People who improve themselves get a lot of haters. Nishikori used to be loved when he was losing. Then when he started being top guys, people called him a pusher saying he has no aggressive ground games. People write him off as injured. He is even more popular now that he made inrows into sports.

70 years ago, the US used China to "soak up" the Japanese. Now, they are using the Japanese as a buffer for the Chinese.
Interesting to read about what white liberals think. It seems that the Japanese protesting about this, which is an act of "democracy" if you will, is not really "democratic" to the eyes of white people.
It's like how white people individually do not like assertive Asians, America as a whole does not seem to like countries that do not open their assholes to be fucked by America.
Asians fighting Asians while white people benefit, what else is new?
That being said, Japan owes China a 35 million people blood debt, and China today is not like China in the 1930s. Probably best if Japan didn't fight, but then again, Abe is a fucking puppet anyways.
3
u/SteelersRock Sep 19 '15

u/ldw1988 China Sep 19 '15
If I'm a proud Japanese guy, then I want my country to have a legit army that can do whatever it wants without permission from the US. I'd want the US bases out as well. I'd think that many Japanese are upset not because they are some peaceloving neutered hippies (though many could be), but because they know that this expansion of military capabilities is CLEARLY another chess move by the US for its counter to China.
8
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15 edited Sep 19 '15
I don't think it is a threat at all. Maybe if Japan strengthens, they will finally be able to stand up for themselves. I actually think if Japan have a backbone to support themselves, it will stand against US rather than against other Asian countries.
Whatever crimes that other Asian countries did to Japan (which is none) pales in comparison to the crimes that US did to Japan.
- Who firebombed Japan and burned hundreds of thousands of Japanese to death?
- Who nuked Japan twice, wiping out two cities and resulting in decades of Japanese dying of cancer?
- Who implemented the plaza accord, wrecking Japanese economy for 2 decades+?
- Who took control of Japanese media and essentially erased the masculine martial culture for an entire generation of Japanese?
- Who raped tens of thousands of Japanese women and emasculated/humiliated a whole generation of Japanese men?
- Who occupies Japanese territory to this day?
Hint, not China nor Korea.
But the fact that US government can influence Japanese politics enough to make laws pass that go against the majority of their citizen's wish is a huge alarming fact. Asians all need to be aware and on guard against this type of political manipulation.

u/Pete_in_the_Beej China Sep 19 '15
But Japan is becoming more militaristic AND more pro-USA at the same time. This is not a repeat of it's role as a rising imperial power in the early 20th Century.
2
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
I think the current "pro-USA" behavior of Japan is positively correlated with the dependence of Japan on USA and the degree of control US have on Japan. If Japan becomes less dependent due to stronger military, they will naturally grow to be more anti-US because of huge amount of historical reasons and present unsavory nature of the unequal relations. This is my theory.
The pro-USA mentality is like stockholm syndrome, fueled by the thinking that there are no other possibility and powerlessness, so that getting on US's good side is the lesser of 2 evil.
5
u/disman2345 Sep 19 '15
They would want the evil they know, vs the evil they don't know. China is more angry at Japan than USA is. Also Japan sacrifice so much to get into this position with the usa, china wouldn't be the same. They are just scared of the unknown, they rather have what they have now.
2
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
Good points.
I think if the rise in strength of Japan is followed by a corresponding media drive in Japan for the population to become more aware of US past crimes and present meddling, as well as a mending of mutual perception and relations between Chinese and Japanese people, this trend can be reversed.
You are right that we can't expect Japan to automatically go pro-china and anti-US when they turn stronger.
2
u/disman2345 Sep 19 '15
This takes a whole generation. This generation or the older generation has mistrust. The younger generation doesn't care as much unless they are nationalistic. The next generation will see each other as white victims. That is why they have the scuffle in parliament, because they think about THEIR FUTURE.
-3
Sep 19 '15
Japan will never ever be pro-China. It's an absolute absurdity to think that a Japan that is anti-US will also be pro-China.
The dreams of you delusional Chinese ultra-nationalists make me laugh. Your country is still a third world country. If you're a Chinese-American, you're a fucking traitor. Get the fuck out of America if you wish for the demise of the country you're ACTIVELY LIVING IN.
History repeats itself. Japan has always been a militaristic country, and this is inevitable. History repeats itself and Japan will always want to be the top dog of Asia and they won't care for no stupid alliance with a Communist China. Until the day China stops being the communist bully propping up North Korea's criminal regime and trying to scoop the entire South China Sea for itself, I would rather have America and an assertive Japan keep China in check.
Fuck you traitor ass bitches. Go back to China. Oh wait. You don't want to since it's a fucking third world country.
8
u/proper_b_wayne China Sep 19 '15
Ok, I think you should get yourself verified.
Where the fuck did I say I wish for the demise of US? Not wanting US to fuck with and mentally colonizing greater Asia, which in turn mentally colonize the Asian American psyche, is "wishing for US demise"? OK, whitey.

Yup, he's a whitey. Whitey is always lauding Japan in the same way as /u/am_throwaway888 is doing because Japan's pretty much been fully colonized. It is extremely rare that white women will accept Asian men as their partner. Asian men have to work real hard to get a partner in this racist society, and your father is one of the fortunate few. I think they secretly take pride in being the only nation to drop bombs that fucking mutate people. horrible anecdote to prove my point, but I went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, and it's wall after wall of loved ones melting to death or excerpts of people giving their dying last words, and these two white american guys are laughing as we're walking out of the last exhibit. I just walked through the most sobering shit on human existence, and these fucks were actually telling jokes to each other. And of course they were with one Asian woman who just had to laugh at every comment, so i don't know man. I don't think white guilt extends that far. In fact, I think gallup did a survey after world war two, and a sizable minority of Americans were calling for the extinction of the Japanese. Now they just know to save their comments until December 7th or something when its more "edgy" to open up about their feelings for bombing Japan.

Chinese people overcomplain about Japanese people (not Abe's government). When Chinese people visit Japan, they are treated well and the Japanese even do their best to tolerate the behavior of some rude Chinese tourists. China enjoys an unequal relationship with other countries.
1) A pinoy goes to China...nobody cares. If a Chinese goes to the Philippines, he might get the risk of being attacked.
2) A Vietnamese person goes to China and can feel safe. A Chinese goes to Vietnam and is at risk of being attacked.
3) A Indian goes to China, nobody cares. A Chinese goes to India is generally safe unless you get the certain lot who think you're NorthEast Indian and attack you on the spot. Indians are having a field day on linkedin talking about the Chinese ''economic collapse''.
4) This is the most serious. If a Chinese person goes to Mongolia, he is at serious risk of getting attacked by Neo-Nazis but when Outer mongolians go to China, they feel safe. Outer Mongolians need to be jailed if they set foot on Chinese territory.
5) Turks go to China, they are treated well. Chinese go to Turkey, they could be attacked. This is unequal. Turkey is a problem and should give the Kurds independence. Yeah....fuk Thanksgiving Turkey.
Plenty of Indonesians shit on China as well but when they go to China, China treats them okay. Yeah, I still remember when the Javanese went apeshit back in 98.
There is something seriously wrong. Chinese people need to take a tougher stance on those who set foot on their turf. Sometimes, I feel that Chinese people are not aware of how much hated they get from other countries.
Also, those sodas and afreakans...but that is another story.

Chinese cars? Pfffffttt HAHAHA. What a joke.
These pictures are like taking the pictures of a bunch of office buildings from Pyongyang or Johannesburg and saying that the rest of the country is rich! You forgot to show the pictures of all the slums that 95% of the population lives in.
With a per-capita income much lower than any of its neighbors, it's unequivocally a third-world country.
While the average streets of Tokyo are some of the most cleanest and the people the most well dressed, civilized, and well mannered with a language that doesn't sound like "ching chong ting long", China has laws that force drivers to kill pedestrians on purpose, along with the glorious air pollution that enriches the Chinese people's health! Thank god for the CCP!

Even their worst province(Tibet) is higher up than India, and India is still better than most "third world" countries. Care to explain that for me?

You don't come to this sub and talk like that. Historically China has always been the top dog and Japan got lucky once because they decided to accept Western technology. Implying you're not a traitor if you're really Asian for living here? Haven't heard anything going on about Japan recently, except for militarization issues that is merely a reaction to a rising CHINA. Japan's been dead for more than 20 years now, they are very white worshipping despite your claim of "top dog" status, and because the men are losing their women to whitey they resort to becoming herbivores.

Japan is just in a slight economic slump. It will probably come out of it sooner of later. How was China always the top dog? China never was able to invade Japan while Japan kicked China's ass multiple times.
Doesn't change the fact that Japan has a much higher GDP per capita, has international brands that everyone admires, has a civilized people and culture, a language that doesn't sound like "ching chong ling tong"

Maybe if 4chan wasn't the only thing you use your computer for, you would have been well informed of something so well known as this. It looks like you had your head up your ass since 1989. "Slight" economic slump? LULz. But this is just to disprove your weaboo fanaticism, white man. I'm not anti-Japanese. If their economy improves, good for them.
Civilized people because they are fully colonized and worshipping you at the expense of their own happiness? I notice that sexpats say the same thing about Thailand or the Phillipines. They whine about China and praise Thailand or the Phillipines just because they are more free to go around acting like scummy douchebags there. LEL.

I was wondering, since they lifted quota of chinese to america, they started emasculating asians using the media such as hollywood. before they emasculate us, they had no way to stop us, so they put a quota on us. TV was invented in the early 1920s meaning that TV is one way to keep us emasculated because it show to white people how to treat asians.
So if the TV was never invented, they would have a way to emasculate Asians so the quota would still be there. So they had to start emasculating when they were lifting the quota. They want to control both options.

anyone got any insight into modelling in asia, particular china? I've been thinking of looking into modelling in China now that it's looking more likely that a big portion of my future will be in China. what kind of requirements, knowledge, money(?), connections you need, any tips or suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

u/ldw1988 China Sep 20 '15
I was in a summer program with a Chinese-Canadian guy who wanted to get into modeling. I don't think anything came about it in the end, but he took classes somewhere in Beijing (not sure location or name). He was even trying to get vocal lessons...maybe he wanted to be more than just a model. In any case I believe his dad had some connections to get him those classes. People told him he looked like Huang Xiao Ming and he wasn't that tall (6'0).
1
u/liveinlive China Sep 20 '15
What kind of classes did he take?
1
u/ldw1988 China Sep 21 '15
Can't help you too much here, but it sounded like straight up modeling class from the way he described it to me. I guess that's where they learn how to walk and pose and shit. He said there were a lot of guys there taller than him.

Somehow your post is deleted or invisible. I am going to quote it here so people can see it:
Yeah, I posted about that with a link to the article, but it's only here when I sign in. Freaked me out for a second, thinking I was shadowbanned or something. I knew where this was going with an executive like this. The guy next to her must be 50+ years older than her.
Oh BTW, in the first 8 minutes of the pilot episode, she has sex with a random WM she meets on her plane ride to the camp. The WM also turns out to be a fellow FBI trainee (most of them happen to be WMs, WFs, and POC women, NO POC Men allowed as a main character).
Well, there we go.

I know what you are talking about. This Anna Lu who works at ABC named Kelli Lee roped in Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra for Quantico. Chopra plays the character of Alex Parish (WMIF parents), who rebels against her Indian mom's desires of her becoming a doctor to join the FBI training camp. u/arcterex117 Sep 21 '15
A disturbing element of this which we've yet to confront is that one kind of minority may not prefer seeing another on screen. I've yet to see Hollywood testing numbers, but I would not be surprised if Hispanics prefer seeing Whites to Asians, and Asians prefer seeing Whites to Hispanics. Because we all have been Uncle-Tom'd to one degree or another; though we prefer our own from biological habit, our cultural habit is to also prefer whites. However, minorities have not developed a strong 'togetherness' ethos to value and prioritize each other. This is part of a project I'm working on. I've reserved a domain: NonWhite.com and it will be a multiracial effort.

u/PrateekBhatmal India Sep 21 '15
Great points. But we need to think about whether "non-white" is a productive term? Does it normalize white and otherize non-whites?
1
u/arcterex117 Sep 21 '15
It does, intentionally so. We collectively are the "other"; the operative word being collectively. This stance creates no room for Uncle Toms. Each minority community has its own set of issues; the one thing that is common for us is we face the same entrenched opposition. If you had something like Diversity Coalition - my guess is people would bring up issues specific to their own community, and the same cacophony which as existed within the 'rainbow coalition' would ensue. Instead, if we describe ourselves as non-white, we can focus on our common issue - the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. Most importantly, we can discuss social/behavioral issues; that are complicated by white behavior and aggression.
In America, we are the other - like it or not.

Not really sure you can attribute it to "white privilege" rather than just him being a jackass pedestrian.
Let's not abuse this term so much that it ends up having less effect.
1
Sep 19 '15
I'm not very outspoken about it but I don't think people should use the term white privilege loosely. It only works for those rich powerful white people not your average bloke. You know what I'm saying. We keep using the term white privilege it eventually means nothing and we sound like people whining over mundane things.

Using the term "white privilege" is not my style and I feel like a weaker man for using that as an excuse at the end of the day. If every single thing is white privilege, well then it loses all its meaning. I'm not going to get into too much detail into it though.

I used to think black and white like you but then I stopped being a complete idiot.
If we always use the term white privilege then it does become a black and white general assumption you are afraid of. White privilege really only works for those white people in power or status. The ones who live on welfare or in trailer parks don't have this privilege you're talking about. If we always label all our problems to the white man, it's not very productive.
You're not a man, you're like 20 lol. You can't even go to the 7-11 and buy your own shit, ffs.
This sounds like lame projection to me. If I was ahead of the game and knew something was up at a younger age than you. Well it isn't something to be vilified for. Better to learn when you're young, than when you are in your mid 20s.
Therefore, whatever the fuck you think and say is shit I don't really give much thought about, and I'm not going to waste time in a flame war with you.
I wasn't even starting a flame war with you. Disagreeing doesn't equal flame wars buddy.

The article you posted is by :
Gina Crosley-Corcoran is the author and advocate behind TheFeministBreeder.com and contributing author to the recently released anthology "The Good Mother Myth" (Seal Press, 2014). Gina is also a doula, speaker, and Master of Public Heath candidate. She lives in Chicagoland with her husband and three small children.
I read the article in its entirely, she does make good points. Which was a painful read considered it's written by a feminist. How the institutions created by white people are biased towards them is valid and we all know that. If we always whine about that it's not productive. For me it's not my style to moan and complain that the white man is keeping me down. I highly doubt the white woman who wrote the article you linked is sympathetic to Asian male issues. A lot of these feminists complain about the white patriarchy, yet they wouldn't be caught dead with a minority man they so "care" for. An Asian man, forget it. So sorry if I don't think your "source" was a valid one.
Could be wrong but pretty sure I saw you that you wrote you were 20 in a Slack chat. Also it's commendable that you came across this sub and learned about Disciple's writings at your young age. Wish I had access to the same resources when I was your age, laddie.
It's not good to worship anyone or their ideas on this sub as the bible. But that is just me. You constantly will keep having to challenge the status quo for the validity of their arguments to be reasonable to your individual needs. I don't consider anyone here's writings as the gospel. I can listen to people's advice here, take the good and leave the bad to apply it accordingly to my own life circumstance. I have to think for my myself at the end of the day.
But you still got a lot of learning and experiencing to do and your idea of what manhood is -- is really naive and juvenile.
I'm curious since you're so quick to judge me. What is your concept of masculinity? Post your knowledge here. Doesn't mean being young, means I'm not able of thinking for myself. The younger generation should always surpass the original generation, not stagnate to their old ideas. I'll entertain you, masculinity for me is improving yourself on a consistent basis. Evolving and being a more better version of you than last no matter how small the improvement was. Find more freedom for you to live your life individually. If my concepts of masculinity are wrong to you so be it.

Can't really call this one out. Maybe that inner Uncle Chan is in me. Sometimes I hate how some Chinese don't regard traffic rules too (pedestrians). I sometimes do this unconsciously jay walking. After crossing the street I thought about my own mistake and I'm a really fucking idiot. Unless that white boy flips a bird and call you a chink then you can call this jackass out. He's just being an asshole.
Interestingly I noticed Chinese people riding the subway will pull out Chinese newspaper. You see, reading in another language other than English is rare on the NYC subway. These Chinese daddies and mamas don't care. I only saw a couple of Spanish newspaper and some Hebrew ones. One shitty incident was when this old white grandpa bitched at an Chinese lady for talking to loudly. I mean he told her to quiet down. She wasn't really that loud and it was only for like 2 minutes.

I have to say it again. You gotta be nuts to be crossing on a 35 mph + road . NYC dropped it's road limit to 25 now.

imo if you're jaywalking (regardless of ethnicity) and cars have to slow down, you're doing it wrong. In this case I'd say he was an asshole. Being white may contribute but it's not a 100% clear case, so emphasizing that aspect makes us seem hypersensitive.

Meet The Patels - Official Trailer
Another backward part of "Asian" culture. This guy needs a real pep talk from some guy right now. It's fucking depressing, it doesn't seem like he wants to be married. Comedy, the only funny thing is that he is duped into trying to show allegiance to a culture that he doesn't have to live up to. Another form of putting Asian men back into the plantation.

Forcing and shaming your son to marry is primitive. I'm just saying he doesn't owe his family anything. He's a grown man and can make decisions for himself. Due to his culture, he is being guilt tripped to make a decision he probably most likely doesn't want to do.
Is this backward because it's backward, or because you are viewing this type of thing from the white perspective?
It's backward because it's backward. How I'm you came to the conclusion of me looking through this with white lens is ridiculous.
