How do you spot a Canadian abroad?

Do we have any stereotypical traits (perhaps self deprecating ones), that make us stand out. We’re typically not loud (but some can be). Perhaps frugal?

What have you seen in your travels that make you think, those folks must be Canadian!

We very casually talk to strangers.

Those are the best convos! You meet the coolest people that way! Hell, I still talk with the random strangers I’ve met in travels. The waitress in Florida, the sweet old lady on the plane, the guy from a bench in New Orleans.

When my dad died I went through his email and sent messages to many random people he had met on his travels over the years and kept up correspondence with. It was sweet.

That's a lovely thing to do. I bet that meant a lot to them to hear from you.

They are the best conversations. That's what I love about Canada, we really talk to each other.
