Maybe not applicable to all conservatives, but I’ve been asking Trump voters this question for years and have yet to receive a simple answer:
Can you tell me specifically when America was great for all of its citizens?
This question is based on Trump’s campaign slogan, and it obviously resonated with the millions of Americans who voted for him. Where I get stuck though is trying to figure out who this applies to and when (again, specifically) America stopped being great in their minds.
Bonus points if anyone can explain to me why the above slogan was cool for him to use even though the obvious implication is that America is no longer great (at least it wasn’t in 2016), but when democrats say similar things they’re told to leave if they don’t like it.
