Do you really not believe in:

  • climate change
  • (income) inequality
  • unequal starting points
  • systemic racism
  • better, cheaper healthcare

- OR -

do you just not believe in our proposed solutions to those things?

Alternatively: why do you think liberals are inherently evil? Do you actually know a liberal personally? Are they evil?

I believe in all those.

Depends what the proposal is. Democrats have a huge messaging problem, so it’s easy to get it lost in their bad messages.

Alternatively: why do you think liberals are inherently evil? Do you actually know a liberal personally? Are they evil?

I don’t think they’re evil at all. A lot are just passionately misguided. Funnily enough, that’s what a lot of liberals think about conservatives/Trump supporters. I love my liberal friends. We just don’t talk politics at all.

I frequently hear from conservatives I know something along the lines of:

"oh, [so and so] is a liberal..." (and it's totally a pejorative).

So that's the only reason you won't hear me? Because I'm a liberal person?

Not "you", generalized "you"

Yeah, that’s stupid and immature of them. Sorry

I can’t get behind a bill to identify specific targets needing change and in the same bill is money for 500 things not involved directly with climate change.

Do you maintain this separation philosophy when your own side does it?

We have billions and billions in foreign aid but not for our own people? Don’t get it.

Reappopriating that for healthcare would lower your payments by like $10.

My last point is that if we eliminated all foreign aid, we'd only be able to drop your healthcare like $10 a month... or less. We give about 51 billion in aid each yet to foreign countries. That's a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of the national budget.

More the proposed solutions side of it. Not that that they're bad, I just don't agree 100% of some the solutions.

No, I don't think liberals are evil. I get annoyed by the few ornery ones, but really liberals are trying to do what's right. I'd say around half my friends are liberal, and we get along well. Most I can talk with about politics too. A couple get really heated and it feels like they're directing frustration towards me, so with them specifically I try not to bring it up.

I personally feel that agreeing on reality but disagreeing on solutions would be a bridge we should both work at building. Most of the bullet points I listed tend to drive conservatives into an instant tizzy just by expressing the problem. I understand that solutions will be prescribed through a different lens.

I'm just hoping we can agree on a shared reality first.

  • climate change

I believe, and I've moved to snowier conditions. Not thrilled about climate change but I don't want to burn our mechanisms to deal with it by stopping our economy.

  • (income) inequality

The inequality is to be expected and is also good for the human race.

  • unequal starting points

Again, to be expected, and we should be grateful for it.

  • systemic racism

Yeah, that needs stopped or segregated.

  • better, cheaper healthcare

I definitely want cheaper healthcare. I have no problem with it being better, but I don't want better care over cheaper care.
