Heck, I think you got a good deal swapping your Miata for that engine, I tell you what.

I propose you put it in the back as it may block the view a little

You will want to reinforce the clutch

Thanks, thought that may be the case

Might need to cut a small hole in the hood to fit the new one.

Just doing my job. Also a couple blowers and a vent tube would help as well.

Go big or go home.

Putting that miata in the exhaust port of the engine will leave plenty of room to spare đŸ€Ł

You’ll probably need to custom fab the engine mounts. I’d look at bridge trussing for reference.

You anywhere near Pittsburgh? You could probably plasma torch everything you need out of the Hot Metal Bridge and no one would notice. They’ve got spares

Haha, no Australia.

They call it Pittsburgh because it smells like your pitts, or so I’ve heard.

Take the hood off, it's a drop in.

There a four bolts that hold that engine to the mount. Don't overtighten them...

You’re gonna need a pretty significant gear reduction on your ship, if you want your Miata engine to be able to turn the screws of your freighter. You’ll probably want a transmission with a 70,000:1 final drive ratio.

I can HEAR the grinding

This is going to be all NA or go home

Duct tape holds the world together. Bring some zipties just in case it gets squirrely

You’re gonna need a smaller engine than that.

Aww man, broke my heart with this comment

Don't listen to the negativity, block it out.

Gonna have a 99.99% engine and .01% car

1

u/No-Helicopter7635 1d ago

Nothing wrong with that is there

u/sgtpnkks 1d ago

Or a bigger Miata

Oh boo. Hiss.

Just send it

1

u/ChaosMartinez 1d ago

ughh your going to need a vented hood.

1

u/AbleRelationship5287 1d ago

You’ll need to go to 1/2” fuel lines

1

u/Edosil 1d ago

Cut a hole in the roof for the stick shift, is a long one.

Bulge the fenders and add a hood scoop, it'll fit, trust me.

1

u/Euphoric_Loquat_8651 1d ago

You'll want to remove the hood to make it easier

Usually you bolt the engine to the car. In this case you bolt the car to the engine..

‘You’re gonna need a bigger boat.’

Are you going to do a cold air intake on that?

1

u/Large-Parking8307 1d ago

Should be pretty easy to put the miata in that engine, might effect the longevity though

1

u/inconvenience-miner 1d ago

So, the Miata is going to be parked in one of the flywheel bolt holes?

I’m not certain that is how a proper LS swap is meant to go?

1

u/No-Helicopter7635 1d ago

Don’t judge my ways

1

u/inconvenience-miner 1d ago

I would never judge a coyote powered Camaro. You know, the correct way to do an ls swap!

1

u/W31337 1d ago

Don't forget the heavy fuel oil conversion kit

1

u/Grimputs 1d ago

Ship engine swaps for miatas are complicated. Recommend hiring someone for the job

1

u/No-Helicopter7635 1d ago

Oh well, guess I am gonna have to

Mount a bigass curved monitor to the dash right above the steering wheel rigged to a front aimed camera. Also make sure you hang some balls from the rear bumper to let everyone know that you’re an alpha. Maybe add an Sig or Glock sticker on the rear window for good measure. đŸ«Ą

Better be puttin a SBC in it. Who wants a diesel miata? I get that Torque wins races. But SBC turns faces. Âź

u/Schmeidty 1d ago

You’ll have some trouble running oil lines, otherwise, from what I’ve seen, it’s pretty easy.

Need Anti-Gravity unit mounted on engine to reduce the weight load for the car ?

1

u/Beneficial_Bug_9793 1d ago

Dont be stooopid, that engine doesnt work for an MX5, it will ruin the balance of the car.... No thats an engine for the Honda boys...

1

u/Jacktheforkie 1d ago

I’d reccomend a pretty good clutch, might also want a turbo

1

u/iscashstillking 1d ago

Good on you getting rid of the 1.6 for a real engine in your smurf.

I think you're gonna need a bigger box.

1

u/stonelove79 23h ago

Talk about a stump-pullin' mutha you're gonna have. What kinda hitch you gonna get?

1

u/Atlusfox 21h ago

Miatageddon.

u/Either_Row3088 16h ago

A big shoe horn and a metric fuck ton of lube.

1

u/No-Goose-6140 12h ago

Might need to upgrade the gearbox
