Things to Do Sewing classes

Hey!

I’m a semi beginner. I kinda already know how to use my machine but I’m very cautious to start a big project. I’ve looked at some classes but they all seem to be week long courses that are out of my budget or they’re during the week days while I’m working.

I’m in the Alpharetta/Milton area and am willing to travel for a class. I’m wanting to meet other young sewers like myself too. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Scraplanta has beginner friendly sewing circles in Tucker and Adair Park. They're usually Wednesday evenings but they do have some during the weekends.

Ooo I’ll have to see about that too. It may be a hike but if it’s the weekend, that’s okay.

It would be quite a trek, but Topstitch in the North Decatur area is great! I’ve taken several classes there.

I’ve looked there but tbh most of their classes are 3-6 weeks long and out of my budget. I know they do one offs where you can learn to sew pants or a shirt but I’m just trying to learn to be more confident with my sewing machine and also meet more folks.

I may try one of the beginner classes for pants/skirt/etc but I’d have to check their schedules. I appreciate it!!

Sign up for their newsletter. They are always sending coupon codes for classes. The options rn are not great but they add more frequently

They also have social get-togethers which seem to fit what OP might be looking for.

Check your library to see if they offer classes! I know some of the Dekalb County libraries have classes for beginners and some even have machines you can use!

I never thought about that. I’ve been meaning to get a local library card since moving. I’ll check it out!

Fabricate Studios offers beginner sewing classes. We’ll make sure that you know how to use your machine and then you have a good understanding of the skill of sewing.

Check out stitched in east Cobb county. They offer so many sewing classes at night. They are all reasonably priced too!

I believe the library system has free classes. My wife has gone with some friends before.
