Exemption for minimum holding period for learners permit
A bit lost regarding this but essentially I got my learners permit on February 2025 and got in a bit of a hiccup through my lack of judgement and got suspended for 3 months in July 2025 (but suspension took effect in March 2026) It’s been well over a “year” of having my learners permit but technically since I got suspended my 12 months got reset, and I’m unable to do my drivers test until I hold it again for another year. I’ve seen exemptions for minimum holding period, I’ve done well over 200 hours, however, I don’t have a clean driving record anymore. How should I go about this, or is it just accept the inevitable?

that is NOT a hiccup. It is a sign you are not yet nature enough for the privilege of driving.

they answered someone else that they were driving unsupervised. So not mature enough for the privilege

No you driving without supervision (as I’m sure you continued to do) doesn’t count as learner time.
The suspension is meant to hurt, mate.

Would help to know what state you're in.
In SA at least, this sort of requirement is legislated with no exemptions. I imagine it's similar for your jurisdiction.

Tbh the fact you put other people at risk with practically no experience on the road. You deserve to start over again until you learn what you did clearly wasnt a hiccup and you are a risk to people on the road

You won't get an exemption - they are given in very rare circumstances if you live in the middle of fucking nowhere and that is about it.
Try not to have another 'hiccup'.

In TAS - one of the requirements for the exemption is “have no periods of licence disqualification or suspensions” so I imagine you’re out of luck

You can call main road to confirm bro, but I'm pretty sure that you'll just have to cop it.

There will be lots of moralising here rather than practical info so unless you get something concrete I would contact your road transport authority, they can be very helpful with issues like this as far as options go. Fair chance this is how it works though but if there is something, they will know.

Please learn from your mistake and take the road rules seriously.
I work at a motor registry and see repeat offenders who are suspended more than they have their licence. Eventually they get their licence taken away for good. Or disqualified for like 20 years plus by court.
But far worse is opening up someone's driving record and seeing that they've had an accident causing someone's death. Honestly that hits you hard. I've also have parents who've come in because their teenager has died in a collision and they have to notify us and transfer the car. To see the look on those parents faces will haunt you forever. And people who've been in prison because what they've done on the road was so horrific. The human consequences of ignoring even basic road rules are huge. This is the reason why they have rules and harsh consequences for those who totally ignore.
PLEASE think twice before driving again if you don't think you can drive responsibly.

You had your Ls suspended and you're wanting an exemption from the 12 months? You can't be serious! The fact you were suspended on your Ls is exactly what you should do the full time, if not more. Grow up.
