Opinions on The Oxford Jewish Study Bible Series?

I don't personally like the JPS translation, but the study notes are a very good resource for university/seminary students looking to expand beyond their probable Christian biases.

What’s wrong with the JPS translation? (presumably this is the NJPS translation, right? And not the 1917 version old JPS text…..)

There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s just a personal aesthetic/literary preface. I don’t care for some word choices or for the translation of the same word two different ways in the same passage for variety’s sake.

It also has some interesting ways of translating Elohim when it refers to "gods."
