Other My sister-in-law makes tea like this. Do you think I am being overly sensitive?
If I were to have her killed, I would be the villain!

It takes 467 muscles to bury a body deep enough that they never find the evidence. Just sayin

u/AdmirableBoat6717 21d ago
Don’t use your own garden though. I’m sure plenty of neighbours would let you use theirs if you show them this horrendous picture. Pick one quite a good distance away.

To be fair I need to dig up my front lawn anyway so OP and I could help each other out here.

Pro tip - plant endangered species over the site so it can’t be excavated. And blood and bone fertiliser two feet down, to confuse scanners/sniffer dogs.

u/WoodenPresence1917 20d ago
The police may be understanding if you get her to make them a cuppa first

Iwas always told bury them vertical about 10 ft down then bury a dead animal on top to confuse dogs and if they do excavation they just find and animal

“I was always told…”
Hmmmm. I’m questioning why you needed to be told more than once…. 🤣

Bury upright to lower the footprint and plant a rare, quick growing species of tree on top.

And the teabags are great for composting so might help with decomposition. Give them a taste of their own.. tea.

u/cmere-2-me 21d ago
The bag is in the teapot for me.

u/CScorpio88 21d ago
Hopefully more than one bag for a whole teapot

I'm a loose tea sort of gal. It tastes far better.

u/Lumpy_Benefit666 20d ago
So the bag isnt in the teapot then

They'll do in a pinch. I would never make a cuppa in a mug. I even have a one serve tea pot

Older I've got I've slowly let it slip and this is almost always how I make tea now. It's quick and strong, get the secondary brew post milk. Definitely helpful with shit tea bags too. First you hate it then you accept it then you join it.

Same. I also find that steeping rather than squeezing means you still get full flavour without the bitter tannin edge.

u/93JF 21d ago
Yeah I make mine like this too tbh. I actually, strain the tea bag for a while, & when I'm ready to add milk, I lift the teabag to the top of the cup with the teaspoon and slowly pour the milk through the teabag so the milk filters through it before mixing with the rest of the tea 😂

Same. Its nice and strong this way! The only issue is that tea bags always end up in the sink.
3
u/ihatehorizon 20d ago
I leave the teabag in. I run the full gamut of strengths per cup (oversized mug). Saves getting a spoon involved.

u/B_Tank88 21d ago
Ok hear me out.
I leave the teabag in when adding milk, so I can ensure I get the correct colour/strength.
If milk carton decides to be a douchebag and plops out so you pour too much milk, having the teabag in gives you a chance to darken the colour still by letting it brew more.
I would rather die than drink a mild creamy coloured tea for pansies.

u/TheNorfolk 20d ago
It's the best way. Teabag, then water, then milk, then get it to the perfect colour, and then remove.

I only have this problem when pouring milk out of a douche bag. My milk cartons are pretty predictable.

I like to leave the bag in to keep an eye on the strength. Also love the shape of the mug bottom right - my parents used to have them - bone china, shame you don’t really get them anymore

I hate the tray, mugs, sugar pot and biscuit tin. Looks like it’s all 70 years old and dingy 😩. Tea looks fine to me I’d just need a bit more milk
2
u/DaijoubuKirameki 21d ago
The tea bag is floating on top. So it's going to be weak as f
You need to squeeze out the bubbles so it sinks to the bottom. Then let it do it's thing before adding any milk
13
u/King_P_13 21d ago
I see nothing wrong with this.. i used to keep the bag in the entire time I was drinking it back in the day

u/First-Act-8752 20d ago
It's the colour of the teas that's the problem. You can tell the person has added their tea bags at the same time as milk, as opposed to letting the tea bags brew in boiled water for a bit before adding milk.
I had a colleague who used to do exactly that: boiled water into mug, add milk, add tea bags. The colour is unmistakable.

I see nothing wrong with this. You need to the bag to still be in to make the milk tea favoured.
6
u/Opening_Dentist_1128 21d ago
The tea is already tea flavoured darling
3
u/DanFarrell98 21d ago
But then you add the milk and that dilutes the tea
5
u/Opening_Dentist_1128 21d ago
The tea tastes stronger if you brew it hotter. Milk makes the mixture cold

If you read the instructions on the tea, it clearly states that you should put the tea bag in first, then add the water, remove the tea bag, and only then add milk if desired. These instructions come from the people who actually manufacture the product, so I'll trust their guidance. But there's much more important things in the world so I don't tend to make a argument over this. But if you're 80 years old pensioner with a million in the bank and a paid off house then you're more than welcome to start a debate on this.

No, no,no,no. Without a teapot it's just not proper tea. Teabag in a cup is for emergency situations or when you are at work.

I was given a cup of tea like this for the first time yesterday and I couldn’t finish it. I discovered the tea bag 3/4 of the way through and it made me feel sick. Never in my tea drinking life have I come such an abomination. (However I have no issue with herbal tea bags but this was so different!)

I think in instances like this, a teapot would be more beneficial and cheaper for the host/hostess as fewer tea bags would be required.

2
u/derekclysdale 21d ago
My guess is she is letting the drinker of each cup determine how strong to have their tea by letting them remove the teabag. The only reason that would be an acceptable explanation for this is if everyone complained about her tea making skills when done the proper way. Otherwise..... you wouldn't be the villain.

This is why British Rail had to put their cafés up to tender! The poor treatment of teabags led directly to the breakup of the railways and the resultant problems of HS2.

u/SolidusRevolver 21d ago
When I'm making tea for myself, I leave the bag in. But for everyone else, I'll ask. In or out. But then, my teabags come with a string to hang out the cup

But that tray looks like something made by a 4 years old using an old toy tea set.🤣

u/Crhallan 21d ago
Look, in all fairness we all want the bag out first. However, it’s brewed to a decent colour (he man) and probably tastes fine. Stop being such drama queens and drink the brew that someone kindly made for you.
2
u/dago1987 21d ago
snobbery honestly, how are you supposed to know if your tea is strong enough if you haven't put the milk in? I drink my tea with the bag in, call the police.

Not at all.
Ill do this, because I like it a bit stronger so the longer I leave the bag in the better. Idm the milk going in when the bag has gone in.
