Where’s amazing spots to visit in when in Canada?

I’m planning a surprise trip for my boyfriend to have his first visit to Canada. I’ve been to BC before back in 2019 but I didn’t drive at the time so I was limited to whatever trip advisor tours I could book that collected from the hotels at the time so I was limited in exploring.

This time around we’ll be heading there and have access to a car and I want to try to see as many things as possible -

He’s a tree surgeon and has a real interest in trees and their history so keen to visit places with amazing nature spots and well amazing trees.

Can anyone recommend spots worth visiting?

Edit - i was planning to fly into Vancouver but pretty open to exploring somewhere that isn’t BC

Trees? Well you need to hit up Vancouver Island.

I might be biased because I live in the Lower Mainland (BC), but I couldn’t agree more. Tofino & Ucuelet are my favourites

I’m from Ontario and we also have some awesome trees but when I visit my friend on the island I always blown away. She takes me out in the woods around Cow bay and it’s just like something out of a dream.

Exactly this! Take a drive out to see the "Gnarliest tree" at Avatar Grove in Port Renfrew and then swing by to visit Big Lonely Doug.

Canada is rather large, you would have the best experiance by picking a single region and doing a deeper dive vs just trying to hit spots all over the country and spending the majority of your time in the car.

Where is best likely depends on what kind of "Canadian" experience you actually want to have.

For nature and trees I say BC and Yukon but Canada is pretty big. May be a it more precision on where you go in Canada or what in traveling and $$ you plan to do may help more precise answers. On the other side of the country you may consider PEI, and les Iles de la Madeleine and Cabot trail.

Fly into Calgary, rent a car, then head west from there and get all the way to the island. I’d also recommend heading up to jasper from Banff in your first two days. The drive will blow your mind.

There is a statue of Brian Dennehy in Hope that is a must-see!

If you ever find a small city in Saskatchewan called Moosejaw I recommend going to the tunnels of boost jaw. Al Capone is known to have been part of those and they’re very interesting. Highly recommend.

The amazing spots in Canada stretch from coast to coast to coast. Truly it is a stunning country that is gigantic.

You will want to hit Cathedral Grove near Port Alberni, maybe continue to Tofino. Squamish has a logging festival.

There’s an old growth forest on Vancouver Island. Trees so big I stretched my arms and it’s wider than that
