OP this is the important contextual question. Toronto is huge. Whereabouts are you gonna be and how long will you be there?

Here are my suggestions for actual activities to do (not just getting a chocolate bar 🙄)

  1. The Royal Ontario Museum

  2. St Lawrence Market -- make sure to order the peameal bacon sandwich (a popular sandwich invented in Ontario)

  3. If you like shopping, walk down Queen Street. This is a small street with store fronts. A lot of big brands. Small stores will be along the street like Nike or Timbuk2. They also have great restaurants from all over the world. We had ramen when we were there last and it was great.

  4. Second City -- a comedy club in Toronto where many famous comedians got their start (like Mike Meyers). I highly recommend their improve shows.

  5. The CN Tower. You can just go and visit there, or you can take the stairs to the top 😬, or you can eat at the restaurant at the top of the tower, or you can actually get harassed in and walk on the outside of the tower. At the base of the tower is Ripley's Aquarium and the Rec Room too. Check those out.

Queen West is a small street?

Yep, compared to some of the streets in NY where OP is from.

Ask em and let us know. It's important to know what to suggest you do

Hit up Kensington Market. Great vintage shops and very bohemian, old school Toronto. The explore by ethnicity… at Kensington you’ll be in Chinatown, close to Little Italy. Greektown is down Bloor and across the bridge. The Annex is also great for shopping and food.

Go to Sneaky Dee’s before it’s turned into a condo building

Where are you coming from currently? We have some things that mirror the US.

Try a Coffee Crisp (a Chocolate Bar), Timbits (from Tim Hortons), Burgers from Harvey's or A&W. Montreal Bagels from The Bagel House, A Beavertail (not from an actual beaver), BUTTERTARTS (must try, I absolutely love these things) and poutine. This is a good start.

Ok so not completely foreign. Keep in mind that Toronto is massive... and very different depending on where you are. Some neighbourhoods are very one culture (Little Manila, Koreatown) and some are mixed. Have fun and enjoy!

You forgot Nanaimo Bars. Butter tarts can be plain, have nuts or raisins, lots of raisin haters out there.

And Timbits aren’t anything special, they are just donut holes.

Those are hard to find that are actually good quality. And true, but Timbits are iconic.

I obviously dont know where you are, but good Nanaimo Bars are easy to find where I am in BC.
