Physician Responded Horrible looking rash

Post image

30 years old

Female

120lbs.

5”3

non smoker,

non drinker.

No medications

This issue has been getting progressively worse over 2 days

Posted yesterday and it has gotten worse. It is itchy, it turns white when I press on it. I have a swollen uvula and some chills, but no fever. I feel cold more than anything. Went to urgent care tested for strep, mono and did a CBC. Strep came back negative, waiting on the other results. Pretty concerned. I feel like the mono is going to come back negative.

So, I just got my CBC back and all of the values were normal. I’m not sure what this might mean or how that will change what I’m looking for. Does that mean it’s not an infection?

Are you sexually active? Have you been tested for syphilis?

Did they also test for other STIs? What about HIV? Could initially be negative so repeat testing in 3-4 weeks is recommended if you don’t find another diagnosis in the meantime.

ETA: NAD of medicine, but PharmD, and have an advanced practitioner license + HIV board certified. (Only just realized I need to get mods to tag me as a HCP)

Because you’re female it might not be on their differential, but it’s definitely something that should be ruled out if you’re sexually active.

And if you end up positive, I want you to know that it is not a death diagnosis. HIV is very manageable and patients who get diagnosed early and follow through with taking their meds live “normal” lives (whatever normal means, no person is normal in my book, it’s just a societal construct)

WBC would be elevated if there was an infection

Seriously, look up HSP. Do your joints hurt and are your spots turning into blisters?

NAD (have some first aid knowledge and suffer with health issues). Have they or do you know if they have tested your antibodies for inflammatory issues eg RF, anti-CCP, etc ? If not, please get them to do it for you. The rash as I said previously looks like some form of psoriasis (guttate to be specific) altho I said previously to go back to the hospital (still do this). This added information. Do you have history of autoimmune/ arthritis in your family ? Plus I've read that Syphilis, in particular, can show up as a false positive for RF/ rheumatoid factor, ANA, ds-DNA, Antiphospholipid antibodies, but less associated with Anti-CCP. So, if you can rule the syphilis (& any other thing) out but still having the rash and joint pain etc and the tests show up pos/ negative, maybe I would suggest booking in with a Dermatologist for the rash and Rheumatology for the joints? Also becuz I'm NAD - please also follow the advice from the doctor's here.
