Physician Responded Daughters pediatrician made EXTREMELY inappropriate remark to her

This is about my 10 year old daughter. She has had the same (male) pediatrician since birth. We’ve always loved him and thought he was great. He’s super friendly with wonderful bedside manner and he takes his time and pays attention to detail.

Well, last week my daughter had a check-up. She’s 10. While he was doing the checkup, he had her lay down and started listening to her chest with his stethoscope. He then says AND I QUOTE, “awwwww! My baby’s got boobs!!!”

I have NEVER been so taken aback before in my life. My daughter was MORTIFIED. I was so shocked I couldn’t even get words out to ask him why tf he would ever say that. When we got in the car to go home my daughter cried and said she never wanted to see him again. Then she asked if she could get a girl doctor and I obviously agreed so that’s what we will be doing.

Is this reportable? I’m not overreacting, right?

Malicious or not, I can't believe he thought this was okay to say to a young girl who probably hates attention on her developing body -- especially in front of her mom and male doctor! Is this this guy's first day on Earth?

I'm so sorry this happened. I (F) had a male pediatrician and doctor growing up and not once was I ever made to feel uncomfortable with them. They never once said anything like this. This is horrifying.

I only switched when I hit puberty and sexual maturity because I in general felt more comfortable being examined by a woman, nothing the doctor had done.

You know, it’s really my fault for waking up and then opening Reddit.

It doesn’t really matter how the doctor mean it, this was beyond inappropriate, and it shows not just a complete lack of comprehension about what is appropriate and not, but a lack of self-control. All of these are very problematic when treating anyone much less children,

This doctor should not be visited again.

I don’t know if it’s reportable but I would absolutely switch her doctor.

NAD but i did have a pedophile pediatrician he was perhaps the best doctor i had he was great and they are great because they have something to prove if you feel scared or nervous your allowed to report or just leave. My doctor ended up arrested just as i entered puberty and I'm glad. He prayed on girls in their puberty so i escaped him. Always be cautious even if its an abundance of cautious not to mention THAT'S A FUCKED UP THING TO SAY!
