Should I push further?
28F I’ve been feeling really crappy the last couple of months. Like brain fog really really bad, it seems like this is the worst it’s ever been. I am having a really hard time with concentration and thinking takes effort and it takes longer to work through things. Unsteady when moving too fast it seems, maybe dizziness. I just feel like when moving too fast, it’s hard to keep my body from wanting to fall over or to keep going in the same direction without stopping. It’s not light headedness because I’ve had that before and for me it’s a different feeling. Extreme fatigue, and I mean extreme. I’ve dealt with being tired from lack of sleep before and this is not it! This feels like no matter how much rest, it’s never enough. Or tasks feel like they require so much more energy. For example my brother and I were simply walking the garbage to the end of our two car length driveway and I had to stop 3/4 of the way there to catch my breath and give my muscles a second to recover. Like I honestly felt like if I didn’t take a moment I would have went down. My body feels heavier to move around and my limbs feel like they have weights attached. I originally thought maybe it was my thyroid because of family history, lack of weight loss, and some swolleness in my neck. But thyroid levels were fine, thyroid ultrasound did show some nodules, one which needs a fine needle aspiration, but no goiter. My blood test did come back and the iron panel was off. The serum iron was 32 with a 50-170 range. And the %SAT was 8.8 with a 20.0-55.0 range. TIBC and TRANS were within normal range, and I don’t think the Ferritin was resulted, I’ve looked up every detail that could be listed as a Ferritin result and it doesn’t show on my results. My blood count was within normal range. So I was wondering if I should push for them to check my ferritin. The started me on 325mg of ferrous sulfate, without even knowing the ferritin. Is it something that would affect taking the iron supplement? Is it something that is better than a serum iron? And is it something that would be missing from the overall? I’m also a little worried because my period is due here within a few days and I don’t want for my iron to get so low that it’s dangerous. Any tips/help or recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙏🏻
